We're telling a generally good bloke he's overstepped the mark - it's what you do; even after he repeatedly tells you he knows, doesn't care, and you can fuck right off off with that.
Because it is one of the more despicable practices of the SJW crowd, and it is not OK when comhcinc does it either.

As the Pit's Official Shill for big Harris (POSH), I confirm Sam's carved out a special hole is his hippy trippy universal mindfulness love-in for Glenn (Moral Turpitude) Greenwald.

I normally wouldnt bother to comment on it, but it amuses me in a perverse way to see Click, who got into trouble protesting alleged racism, benefiting from her "white privilege."
That is close to my reading. A "deferred prosecution" is the white middle-class version of "too big to jail." And sometimes the DA is honest enough to say something like "I'm not going to ruin your life over this" when the same DA would never consider deferring prosecution for a poor black single male who did the same thing. After all, his life is already ruined; he's a poor black single male.

Exactly. With deferred prosecution, the defendant ends up with no record. Important for white folks with white-collar careers.

One observation. Steve Novella is holding off on providing a decent explanation of his decision until the Skeptic's Guide to the Universe Podcast. That is obviously going to drive a lot of attention and traffic to his podcast.

He certainly isn't letting a good controversy go to waste. Nothing like taking advantage of the situation to promote his show.

I can't. Deferred prosecutions are for all whites and other middle-class-or-better people, regardless of politics. And keep in mind that most DAs lean right, not left.

In higher education, your job is bullet-proof as long as your crime was committed in the name of Progressive politics. Can you imagine her keeping her job if she worked literally anywhere else? And what about Mireille Miller-Young, the UCSB professor who assaulted two teenage girls and stole and destroyed their property on school grounds because they were protesting abortion?

These people would be rightly fired if their politics were different, or if they worked in any other industry.
Can you give some examples of right-wind tenured professors being fired for similar acts?
Can you give some examples of right-wing professors (Click isn't tenured, not sure about Miller-Young) committing similar acts?

There were, however, several recent instances of people being fired from or forced out of university positions merely for not being Progressive enough in their politics.
There's this conspiracy nut professor who was fired for harassing the family of a murdered child.

That's standard practice for all non-serious first time offences. Probation, community service and keep the peace. At least here in Canada.

Also, we are always wanting more photoshops, even shit ones like what me and Commie do. Most popular topics include:

1) PZ Meyers. Failing, flailing or wailing, it's always a hoot to see the bearded taint being once more kicked squarely in the balls by Life. Feel free to include tiny penises, golden showers, or to combine with number 2.

2) Beccy Watson.
Crispy-haired slacker, Beccy could no more work a 40 hour week than she could go a day without mentioning Elevatorgate. Feel free to include alcohol, enraptured neckbeards, and alcohol.

3) Stephanie Szvszvszvandwich. The Monster From Below, the Ugly Sisters' ugly sister, the harridan with a hardon. She's known as none of these things, but perhaps that will change. Feel free to include blimps, meat pies, and human turds.

Look, Steersman is a massive dick. His "CleverBot" jig is annoying as hell. He doesn't listen to reason, and his dictionary worship is moronic. We all know that. ....
Sorry you think that, although one has to crack a few eggs to make an omelette. And I might point out that I'm hardly the one promoting the robot meme as I think just about everyone here has had a kick or two at that kitty.

However, I might point you to a reprint of a fantastic review by Robert King of Alice Dreger's Galileo's Middle Finger over at Quillette which has at least sold me - gone to the top of my list of books to buy; a salient portion thereof:
King wrote:“Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.”

One of the themes that runs throughout the book is that assumptions are the things we do not know we are making. Jon Haidt has repeatedly drawn attention to the way that social and behavioural sciences assume that their dominant political viewpoint (typically left wing and liberal) represents reality rather than the lens through which we view the world. Never could this be clearer than in Galileo’s Middle Finger. For example, far too often the useful corrective of exploring one’s own biases has become weaponized into debate-closing triumphant cries of “check your privilege” by those who want to flaunt their humility rather than engage with the facts. Dreger is one of very few who is actually capable of plucking the beam from her own eye so that she can more clearly see the mote in her neighbour’s. Her commitment to truth is such that she’s willing to genuinely explore her own preconceptions and political biases.
Lovely phrase there - "flaunt their humility" - and likewise elsewhere.

However, while I'll concede that I might well be wrong in some of my arguments, I'm not at all sure that many here are not also laboring under the misapprehensions if not delusions that their own assumptions are without flaw. And, more particularly, I can't say that I've seen any particularly cogent and well-supported counter arguments in at least some cases. And, even more so, I don't see that you've actually acknowledged my question about the results of your letter to Croom, or that you realize that you are, essentially and apparently by my lights, making a prescription out of your descriptive linguistics.

Here's what I don't get.

If you don't like skepticism, why would you participate in the skeptical community (and expect it to bend to your will?)

If you respect a certain religion and its dogmas, why would you participate in the atheist community (and expect it to bend to your will?)

If you are a feminist, why would you ignore a thousand men taking extreme liberties with women on New Year's Eve?

The only convictions these weirdos have is that they love themselves and they love being seen as virtuous and logical when they are the exact opposite.

Snap!
That's mean. The University of Minnesota Morris is like Harvard. Anyone who gets there must be at the top of their field.

Thats the concern here. SGU and NECSS was a last boring bastion of cold calculated skepticism. Now not so much. This should have been a trigger to have a panel on satire, free speech etc.

Skepticism Plus.

Well, UMM is out in a field.

As a motorbike rider I clocked that at /r/motorcycles. I know a few women that ride (most bikers do) and I'm not sure it's representative at all, but that being said, a lot of women that ride tend to develop quite robust personalities.

I know some women riders as well. I plan on asking if anything like this has every happened to them.

I don't really buy it.

Why is it so many SJWs love Gould? (PZ, z.B., being a besotted Gould groupie) Cuz Gould's scientific legacy is pretty much trash.

Gawd damn, you just have to read Dicky's latest. It's - well, it's quite something.

Essentially it's a puff piece about, in Dicky's own words, 'a groovy new podcast'. However, it should be said that this hep n jivin new podcast is helmed by his brother in law. Now, you may think that would be the extent of Dicky's nepotism, but remember - this is Dicky we're talking about here. Now, in terms of familial relations, who else do you think Dicky would offer a flattering puff to? And remember, he has a lot of form in this respect.

That's right - Dicky himself!
My brother in law, Brian Parra, has launched a groovy new podcast, There Is No Time to Explain. And I was his first interview subject (episode 1). It’s an example of my favorite kind of podcast [well, it is about you Dicky - Tigz], where we both chat about all kinds of things that mostly aren’t the usual things I’m talking about over and over. [you mean you don't usually talk about yourself? lol - Tigz]

As Brian describes the episode, “we talk about [Richard’s] life as a freelance historian and traveling author and then our conversation turns to the idea that we wage war very differently depending on our cultural ideas.” But boy is there so much more!
And boy oh boy there certainly is so much more, daddy-o - so much more about Dicky, that is:
The first part is a lot about making a living as an independent artist. Then we get to what he asked me on to talk about, which was an obscure remark I made on another awesome podcast, the MABOOM show (I think this episode, which is my favorite of the three I did with them), about how national cultural values might be reflected in the design of our battletanks.
Yes. A prominent feature in this podcast is about an obscure remark Dicky once made. Naturally enough, he elaborates:
I’ve had so many people ask me about that, since on MABOOM I just mentioned it and moved on without explaining because we had to get back on topic. Well, Brian got the chance to ask me about it on his show, and it becomes the linchpin launching the rest of the show, inspiring us to talk about many other aspects of how differences in culture change how people think about war, bravery, even suicide. Many points come up relati - blah, blah, friggin blah
So the obscure remark he once made becomes the lynchpin of the show, no less. But then - it gets worse. You won't believe it but it does! Look at this. Look at this shite:
blah blah...one thing that he eggs out of me is one of my least-told sea stories from the Coast Guard, about how we broke the law (well, civil law anyway) for the good of our country [...] it’s about how we said fuck you to the military industrial complex by disregarding a graft-ridden contract to do what’s right under cover of night. Of course officially that never really happened.
Holy shit! Dicky actually goes nigh-on 'hey-I-was-involved-in-secret-military-ops-you-guys' militard. However, Dicky has a disclaimer for all those chuds who might harbour some doubt that this pencil-necked little bug dweeb might not be cut out for these Navy SEAL type heroics:
Oh no. I am totally making it all up just to impress the ladies. Yeah. That’s the ticket.
It goes on - and finally, his brother in law gets a look in:
But then this episode ends with a special segment Brian intends to close every episode with,
...wait for it...
which is having his guest do something weird from a list of weird things he has, and the one I chose from his list was “obscure movie review.” I give a brief review of the excellent but definitely obscure silent film The Call of Cthulhu (produced in 2005).
So it's all about Dicky again. Hey Brian - nice to glimpse you there.

But all that's not the funniest bit. No. Because Dicky has some disclaimers to make:
Corrections to note: On the Historicity of Jesus was published at the University of Sheffield (the peer reviewed [the fucker just cannot resist, can he - Tigz] publishing company is an independent entity but run by Sheffield faculty on the Sheffield campus).
BWAAAAH!
Following Brian’s lead in the heat of conversation we didn’t notice we said Bonzai pilots when we meant Kamikaze pilots.
HOLY SHIT YOU FUCKING COCK!

Bloody hell...anyways, Dicky's intellectual robustness aside, he makes a few more disclaimers, and finishes with this:
Also, in case it isn’t obvious, this show was recorded a couple years ago, when I was still married.
No 'in case' about it Dicky, considering at the very start of this load of old toot you claimed it was 'a groovy new podcast, ya...dick.

Anyways, that's pretty much all of it. Here's the archive link, as I'm sure plenty here will need confirmation that it's real: http://web.archive.org/web/201601300100 ... hives/9562

'we didn’t notice we said Bonzai pilots when we meant Kamikaze pilots'

Holy fucking shit.

I made a comment at Reddit (which is being downvoted because it's reddit) to the affect that this guy is a reporter and it happens so much to him and I am sure with him being a reporter and it constantly happening he had a helmet cam and had captured some evidence of this.

And I meant it. Everyone has helmet cams these days should be a easy right?

Arguments I love from the SGU forum

"Oh! He's an embarrassment."

I'm Jewish. There are plenty of Jewish embarrassments.
I'm a developer. There are plenty of developer embarrassments.
I'm a white dude. There are plenty of white dude embarrassments.
I'm an American. There are plenty of ...
I'm an atheist. tapo...
I'm a skeptic. tapo...

I mean it really doesn't end, and it's totally irrelevant and by the way you're probably a fucking embarrassment too and yet we grimace and stick by you and don't tell you to shut up because you said something that makes us feel uncomfortable.

He's an embarrassment is not any sort of argument.

And as one guy pointed out, I don't see Lindy or the feminists defending Dawa Man from no doubt the harassment he's getting. Nor does anyone address the issue of how Binx's "harassment" is any different from any of the harassment anyone in her position no doubt gets.

You stare into a cell phone, sing cry me a river when someone tells of their problems including suicides they've known, and you deserve the internet fame you sought. And worse, when she has been asked about this, just like Adria Richards, Binx has doubled down. No she is not sorry, no she regrets none of that, she told manboobz, "Because I had the audacity to tell a dude to stfu, an MRA no less," in order to diminish it. It's okay because it was to MRAs.

archive.is/NXqvi

So. Are feminists, and SJW Atheists telling me they've never mocked anyone, retweeted that mocking even when the person is subject to harassment? I mean, that's Amanda Marcotte's entire oevre!

Fuck Novella, too. He learned a lot from Beckybooze, like how to promise a blog post and not deliver on time.

snip sticky dicky

Holy fucking shit.
Thanks for that. Sticky Dicky seems more like L. Ron Hubbard every day.

Like Carrier, L. Ron was a nautical hero:
The Church of Scientology presents Hubbard as a "much-decorated war hero who commanded a corvette and during hostilities was crippled and wounded."[3] According to Scientology publications, he served as a "Commodore of Corvette squadrons" in "all five theaters of World War II" and was awarded "twenty-one medals and palms" for his service.[4] He was "severely wounded and was taken crippled and blinded" to a military hospital, where he "worked his way back to fitness, strength and full perception in less than two years, using only what he knew and could determine about Man and his relationship to the universe."[5]
Like Carrier, L. Ron was an expert in nearly every possible human endeavor:
The Church of Scientology describes Hubbard in hagiographic terms,[11] and he portrayed himself as a pioneering explorer, world traveler, and nuclear physicist with expertise in a wide range of disciplines, including photography, art, poetry, and philosophy.
Like Carrier, L. Ron understands the real truth about Jesus of Nazareth:
For those of you whose Christian toes I may have stepped on, let me take the opportunity to disabuse you of some lovely myths. For instance, the historic Jesus was not nearly the sainted figure (he) has been made out to be. In addition to being a lover of young boys and men, he was given to uncontrollable bursts of temper and hatred.... You have only to look at the history his teachings inspired to see where it all inevitably leads. It is historic fact and yet man still clings to the ideal, so deep and insidious is the biologic implanting....

No doubt you are familiar with the Revelations section of the Bible where various events are predicted. Also mentioned is a brief period of time in which the arch-enemy of Christ, referred to as the anti-Christ, will reign and his opinions will have sway ... this anti-Christ represents the forces of Lucifer (literally, the "light-bearer" or "light-bringer"), Lucifer being a mythical representation of the forces of enlightenment.... My mission could be said to fulfill the Biblical promise represented by this brief anti-Christ period.
Frankly, we should be honored that we are on Earth at the same time as the most accomplished human ever aside from L. Ron Hubbard:
