I wonder if slymepitters know about or have any particular opinion of Stefan Molyneux. I saw Thunderf00t's brief take on his obsession with one comment he made on one of his videos. He has a large YouTube following. He's an atheist libertarian who probably creates as many new videos everyday as anyone on YouTube. Like most libertarians, I find it a strange mixture of straitforward common sense and batshit craziness. However I have to say that Molyneux personality is engaging, at least for a few minutes of a time, especially when he goes of on occasional tirades which are particularly fun. Any thoughts on the Molyneux phenomena. I'm always fascinated with people like Molyneux who seem to think they know everything about everything, but to outsiders look like deluded fools. Two other clear examples are obviously PZ Myers and Richard Carrier.

I don't say this often, but based off of this radio interview, he is a cunt. He may have good internal intentions. But he is an utter & complete cunt.

I think there is consensus on Molyneux. I just think it's interesting that he has a whole different set of cult followers (almost 200K subscribers!) than the SJWs that follow fTBs and Skepchick. The world is a strange place.

When I write posts here in a language that isn't mine, I'm limited to what I learned about it, and to what I can look up quickly. When the dictionary I access tells me that "disturbing" translates to "unsettling", "irritating", "annoying", and if that makes sense in the way these words are used in my own language, then I'll use the word. Abortion and gun-control are two of the most contentious political issues in the US over the past 40 years and each of the two main parties has chosen a side about each in the larger cultural wars.

I've got the perfect compromise -- we abort fetuses by shooting them!

And both are willing to stomp all over the Constitutional rights of citizens in places they control by refusing to apply what is called 'strict scrutiny' to any of the legislation about the subjects that they favor.
In short, they basically try to 'legislate' the activity they don't like out of existence by making laws that , when applied to the real world, add up to bans.
Then they bitch and moan about how the OTHER side does this to their pet liberty clauses.

In addition to the the (a)Rotherham case there are also several other cases such as:

(d) Oxford sex gang

The Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal refers to the existence of widespread child sexual abuse in the town of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England, between 1997 and 2013, and its alleged cover-up.
In 2010, five men of Pakistani heritage were found guilty of a series of sexual offences against girls as young as twelve.[1] A subsequent investigation by The Times reported that the child sex exploitation was much more widespread, and the Home Affairs Select Committee criticised the South Yorkshire Police force and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council for their handling of the abuse.

The Rochdale sex trafficking gang was a group of men who preyed on under-age teenage girls in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. They were convicted of sex trafficking on 8 May 2012; other offences included rape, trafficking girls for sex and conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child.[1] 47 girls were identified as victims of child sexual exploitation during the police investigation.[2][3][4] The men were all British Pakistanis (except for one from Afghanistan) and from Muslim backgrounds, and the girls were White; this has led to national discussion of whether the crimes were racially motivated, or, conversely, whether the early failure to investigate them was linked to the authorities' fear of being accused of racism.[5]

Nine of the 13 accused were convicted of grooming and raping girls between 12 and 18 years old.[1][2] The attacks provoked fierce discussion about race and sexual exploitation.[4]

The Oxford sex gang was a group of seven men who preyed extensively on pre-teen and under-age teenage girls in Oxford, England, from 2006 before their belated arrest and prosecution. In May 2013, they were convicted of sexual offences including rape, conspiracy to commit rape, arranging or facilitating child prostitution, trafficking for sexual exploitation, and procuring a miscarriage. The victims were "subjected to sexual violence marked out by its sadism: sexual assaults designed to draw blood, multiple rapes, [and] physical attacks in which [they were] choked".[1] As in the similar Rochdale, Rotherham, Derby and Telford prosecutions, the gang members were all of Muslim backgrounds, and the girls were white. This led to renewed national discussion of whether the crimes were racially motivated and whether the early failure to investigate them was linked to the authorities' fear of being accused of racism.

The Telford Sex Gang was a group of seven men who preyed extensively on pre-teen and under-age teenage girls in Telford, England before their arrest and prosecution. In cases stretching over two years to late 2012,[1] they were convicted of sexual offences including rape, controlling child prostitution, causing child prostitution and trafficking for the purpose of prostitution. A Channel 4 investigation into the gang revealed:

There were accounts concerning men who would ejaculate and then urinate in children's mouths, violating them in every orifice, as well as gang-rape by queues of men while girls were held hostage for hours, sometimes days – all the while being forced to listen to the screams of girls in other rooms with other men.[2]

Anyway, are we seeing a pattern here? I know I am.

What you are seeing is proof that it is unlikely that the Pakis in Rotherham enjoyed 'immunity' because of their race. You are also seeing that it takes years for these small gangs to have any appreciable number of victims at all (the largest you've linked to CLAIMS 100, but there is no indication they were convicted of that many.
And you are seeing these crimes occurred in many different Paki communities, not just Rotherham. Communities scattered all over the place in Britain.
And we are supposed to believe that 1400 in this one small place were abused and nothing was done about it?
Need I remind you there were 3 investigations before and none of them found anything?

Once again, it is likely that some victimization took place that was not discovered or prosecuted. It is not likely to be anywhere near as many as is being claimed, esp in a new climate in Britain where accusation equals guilt.

I read some bollocks once about how male children are supposedly fed more by their parents than girls are, apparently because the patriarchy socialises parents to want to toughen boys up but not girls.

There are plenty of ideas along those lines in the whackier parts of the evo-psych world. Some of it dates back to folks like Fisher in the 1920s and 1930s. You can find anything from more food for boys for any of a variety of reasons to more food for girls for a different (but not always different) set of reasons. Then you get the folks who are much smarter, who add in another layer, rather than looking for main effects, such as feed the boys more when war is likely and feed them less during peace.

Amusingly enough, given the back and forth on the maths of inappropriate comments, much of this work was wrapped up in math. You even had folks trying to calculate the optimum feeding ratio for kids (and adults) and then testing to see if a given culture at a given time was behaving in an optimal manner. If the name Fisher in the first paragraph rang a bell, it's because the same Ronald Fisher who gave us the correlation coefficient was a rather well-known eugenics fan, too. And lest you think that this is all back in the 1920s and 1930s, Julian Stanley's Center for Talented Youth still exists at Johns Hopkins today.

I'm not sure what Gamer+ is, but there does seem to be a coordinated campaign from gaming magazines ... In the past 24 hours, many pumped out similar articles announcing their "killing" of the "gamer".

SJ media is shitting out article after article declaring the death of the gamer identity. It's more than a little bit suspicious.

Hello and welcome. I’m Storyteller Alex Conall, a social justice bard cross-training as a social justice cleric. Welcome to the Siblinghood of Justice and Mercy. Come, have a seat and let me tell you a story.

Some tell of a great garden at the beginning of all things, with two fruit trees at the very center, the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Eternal Life. Some go on to tell of a serpent and a woman and temptation, and how the woman tempted her man in turn, and how the great gardener punished woman and man both. You know that story, do you not? And perhaps you know also that the woman of that small story is the second woman in the larger story, that from earth the gardener created man and woman, and then from bone the gardener created a second woman.

Two fruit trees stand in a forest clearing. A man sits at the roots of one tree, a basket of fruit beside his pale hand. Two women approach the clearing, one brown as earth and one white as bone. The white woman says to the man, “Let us share the food you have found.”

The man answers, “I found it and it is mine.”

The brown woman says, “The trees belong to no one, and it is not right that we should be hungry when you have more food than you can eat.”

The man answers, “What do you know of right and wrong? I have eaten of the Tree of Justice and so I know that it is not right that I share knowledge or power with you except to help me.”

The white woman comes closer to the man and argues with him. While he is looking at her, he is not looking at the brown woman, who comes around behind the trees and plucks two fruits from each tree. Later, when the white woman has let the man think he has won, the white woman finds the brown woman, and they each eat one fruit from the Tree of Justice and one fruit from the Tree of Mercy. The man found the fruit of Mercy bitter to the taste and would eat no more of it even as he denied it to the women, but the women find the fruit of Mercy sweet, and the fruit of Justice savory and strong.

Yeah, Internet Aristocrat is talking about this on Twitter. Apparently the advertisers are getting pissed and pulling away in the wake of the corruption allegations and ensuing shitstorm. These bloggers (they're hardly journalists at this point) are fighting back the only way they know how: by throwing an absolute shitfit on social media, their blogs and their news articles, pointing the blame square at gamers AS ALWAYS, because gamers have always been the target of blame whenever someone's butthurt. It was Thompson and Hillary in the '90s, and it's Quinn and Sarkeesian today. But their reactionary clickbait isn't working and the corruption tales are spreading from site to site regardless.

Well they could go into being Social Justice/Feminist writers. But I have a strong feeling that the market for those types of writers is starting to get a tad full. There might be room for a handful more, but not as many as the number of shit writers that have been taking a piss all over gamers.

Can confirm. I used to play FSX religiously, and the amount of effort put into it by the community was insane. They would produce add-on content far superior to anything 3rd parties made. They made AI airline packages with every single aircraft in the fleet, special liveries included, and flightplans identical to real life ones, and what's more they were free to download and visually superior to paid ones. One guy in Scotland has recreated just about every major airport in the UK down to the last detail, and I'm led to believe he makes a living from just selling the software. Many players I saw on forums had a painstaking dedication to realism, and by that I mean they'd operate flights at normal speed rather than the max 16x speed you can go on autopilot - I recall one guy saying he did London-Singapore in real time. :shock: I always tried to play that game realistically, but by the standards of the community I was a filthy casual.

I'm also a fan of Rollercoaster Tycoon, and it's much the same there. The third game allowed great opportunities for modding, and it's worth checking out some of the insanely beautiful creations people have made on YouTube. Meanwhile, the only contributions to the game I can picture Kotaku's readership making is complaining about the clothes the female guests are wearing and how the screams of people on the rides are offensive to the deaf.
