Fortune Magazine, April 19, 2021:
"Dogecoin has had a value of half a cent for most of its seven-year history. Ten thousand new Dogecoins are programmed to be issued every minute for the rest of eternity, meaning the value will never hold. It’s a cryptocurrency that’s meant to always get cheaper. Even the creator of the coin is flummoxed by its rise.

At least one person or company might be making real money on the Dogecoin surge, though. In February, word escaped that an unknown entity currently holds roughly 28% of the Dogecoin in circulation—some 38.6 billion Dogecoin. After today’s high point, that was worth nearly $5.6 billion."

(The highs have doubled since then.)

Today's atrocity was a morning phone call from Fang. For years, Fang has been my best friend. For long stretches he has been loyal & worthy. However, sometimes he's my 'best friend' by attrition & default.

Jordan Peterson talks about a job interview with a 25 year old idiot applying, vs. a 35 year old idiot. You hire the 25 year old because they might grow out of it. As for the 35 year old, well.

The similarities between Fang & Karl Pilkington are so uncanny-- you might-as-well just picture Karl. Even Fang's half-decade exploration of being a part-time autogynophile cross-dresser... is as hapless and joyless as Pilkington's world travels.

For a long time, one of Fang's appealing qualities was his willingness to admit he didn't know much & ask questions. Questions most people would avoid, as their ignorance would be revealed. However, over time, this trait lost much of it's charm-- as it became clear that, yes, he would ask questions: but he wouldn't listen-to & learn-from the damn answers. He'd just use the questions to express his anxieties-- and feel re-assured by the sound of an explanatory reply... then proceed to follow whatever uniformed whim he wanted-to, all along. Another close friend of his noticed this first-- texting 'Why even ask my advice? You NEVER take it!' Fang got butthurt, showed me the text, then was surprised when I agreed with the other guy.

Fang has grown wary of my opinions. Recently, I hear from him less. He has re-connected with childhood friends-- sweathogs from the old neighborhood-- knuckleheads you see playing poor, colorful native new-yorkers in movies. They're more likely to tell him what he wants to hear. He's got 2 other 'smart guy' friends-- his chiropractor & a guy who opened a feminist bookstore so he could sleep with young chicks. So when Fang calls me-- a little quirk I've come to expect-- is he'll explain what's on his mind, ask me some question, then listen to part-of my answer... and then he'll jump-in to say some-other-guy either agreed or disagreed with me. At which point I'll realize this isn't an organic two-way conversation: he has already had the conversation with one or more people, he's following a script, he's going down a list-- sampling what we each have to say... then cherry-picking from the replies to confirm whatever he was going to do all-along.

I'm burying the lede:

Fang called this morning to tell me that he had invested $500 in Doge Coin. He bought at 65 cents, and it had fallen to 61 cents, and "So now I want to jump out of the window. I'm joking, but also not. I keep checking the price all the time. It's bad for my addictive personality."

The fact that I hadn't heard about the purchase beforehand-- means he was certain my opinion would be discouraging, so he avoided hearing it.

He said he bought Doge because he saw a YouTuber talk about Elon Musk hosting SNL, and a rumor there'd be a DogeCoin skit, and hopes the price would jump to a dollar a coin. He said there's lots of 'buzz' about Doge and crypto. He said he bought $500 worth of Doge because the 'price is low' so he could buy more coins-- than buying a fraction of Bitcoin or whatever else. He seemed oblivious $500 in nickels is worth no-more than five $100 bills. He said, "some major league baseball team is now accepting Doge to buy their merch and tickets". He said, "Jeff Bezos says he likes it."

He said it would be great if the Doge coins eventually go up to $300 per coin. I asked him if he could really imagine watching the price climb from 65 cents to 300 dollars-- without deciding to cash-out. I asked how he'd know $300 was the right place to exit... why not hold on for $3000?

I said the things he told me-- were setting-off all sorts of red warning lights. But nothing I tell him would mean anything to him. He'd have to lose his money/ make his own mistakes/ to know. $500 is a cheap tuition. And the worst thing that could happen would be if the price shot way-up... because then the only thing he'd "learn" is that he _might_ be a natural-born inuitive magical investment-picking genius... who has zero idea what he did 'right'.

Then he could start his own YouTube channel, smash that like button & subscribe!

Everything 'before' this chart is flatline. The highest peak is where Fang bought his coins.

DogeCoin is up 14,000% year-to-date.

Doge Coin has a market capitalization above Honda corporation, above SpaceX.

The Fake News Media, working in close conjunction with Big Tech and the Radical Left Democrats, is doing everything they can to perpetuate the term “The Big Lie” when speaking of 2020 Presidential Election Fraud. They are right in that the 2020 Presidential Election was a Big Lie, but not in the way they mean. The 2020 Election, which didn’t even have Legislative approvals from many States (which is required under the U.S. Constitution), and was also otherwise corrupt, was indeed The Big Lie. So when they try to sell the American people the term The Big Lie, which they do in unison and coordination, think of it instead as the greatest Fraud in the history of our Country! An even greater Hoax than Russia, Russia, Russia, Mueller, Mueller, Mueller, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, or any of the other many scams the Democrats pulled!

OK, I'll take the bait...

"Minger" means someone ugly. It's that simple.

"Munter" is more nuanced. Often incorrectly conflated with minger, to "munt" is to be both ugly and socially egregious in one or more ways. For example - an ugly bird that stinks? She's upgraded to munter status. An ugly guy who is also a snooze-missile (boring as fuck) - munter! Ugly and loud/annoying as fuck? Muntage! A fat, ugly cunt with poor personal hygiene who routinely avoids getting their round in? Mega-munter!

Etc.

You're a foreign entity, holding vast amounts of US Dollars. You listen to earnings calls from US companies this week. The companies say it's costing them more to obtain the materials to produce their goods, so they must also raise their prices as-well. Inflation. Does it make sense for you to hold-on to those vast amounts of Dollars, as they shrink? Or to spend them while they still have buying power. The more you spend-- the more you're bidding against other spenders-- driving the price Inflation up. If the Fed eventually decides to fight Inflation-- whatever they do will have to overcome the vast sums of US Dollars being poured on the fire.

If you're a different foreign entity-- you grow coffee beans or mine for lithium. When you sell that stuff-- you can accept these shrinking things called dollars. Or you can accept some other form of payment, something finite like BitCoin or Gold. Which buyer do you sell-to? Maybe you still choose the guy holding dollars-- but maybe you make him pay a premium to compensate for his money being less reliable than it used to be.

But right now the Fed isn't fighting Inflation. They're explaining it away. This week the Pres. & CEO of the Richmond Fed echoed MMT by suggesting that Inflation isn't a problem as-long-as Unemployment rates are still high. Look at all those available workers. If prices are Inflated-- then the market can simply hire all those excess workers to produce more Supply-- reducing prices. One problem, tho. Those millions of workers Don't Want To return to work. Many of them are making more money by sitting-home collecting Stimmy checks & Pandemic supplements to Unemployment... than their old job paid. They only way to entice them back to work-- is to give them a fat raise. But that = Price inflation in wages. Or you could axe all the benefits the politicians have been bribing them with, for support. But doing-so would be death to the politicians' popularity.

The LAST thing you'd want to do-- is what Kiwi's recommended-reading (Bill Mitchell) tells you to do: offer guaranteed government jobs at comfortable wages-- to anyone who wants one, doing unproductive-in-the-market stuff. Along with a wish list of govt benefits which make it comfortable for the workers to not return to work.

All the above is riffing-on ("plagiarism!" --Lsuoma) The Peter Schiff Show, Episode 688, "The Fed Can’t Be Honest About Inflation", May 5 2021

https://www.schiffradio.com/the-fed-can ... inflation/

show notes, below. I've only listened to the first 2 sections:
-Inflation concerns increase along with commodity prices.
-Trade deficit will fuel inflationary spiral.
-Government reclassifying our rights as privileges so they can take them away.
-Supreme Court sets precedent for the federal government to start seizing property.
-Americans need property rights, not property privileges.

Free online course, Introduction to Who Wrote Shakespeare, taught by Ros Barber, the sexiest woman in the UK*.
This free course from the University of London explores critical thinking, and the interpretation of texts, through the Shakespeare authorship question. Using doubt about Shakespeare’s authorship as our playground, we will explore the key concept of authorship attribution, while developing skills in literary analysis, interpretation, and argument. Through forensic exploration of key texts, you will learn why Shakespeare’s authorship is questioned, and what evidence is cited on both sides of the debate.

For those of you interested in exploring the works of Shakespeare from a new angle, or just wanting to hone your analytical thinking skills, this course offers an introduction to a fascinating area of interest. Those of you already interested in the Shakespeare authorship question will be encouraged to question your own assumptions in fruitful ways. Whether undertaken as a standalone course, or as preparation for the University of London BA in English, this course will be food for thought.

* That's not saying much.

The 'horse whisperer' talked about horses & honesty. He said people would give a horse affection & apples-- then lose their temper and abuse the horse. The mixed-message would lead to behavioral issues & the horse whisperer would be brought in. He couldn't start with apples & sweetness-- because the horse had learned to distrust those. He had to be brusque & direct, which the horse could at least trust as What You See Is What You Get. aka Truth.

12 years ago I was driving home from a small rpg & wargames event, held in an old O.S.S. training campsite in Quantico, VA.

I was speeding thru the night up Interstate 95, in a rental car with satellite radio. Tuned to a channel which ran an assortment of snippets of stand-up comedy-- the same way a radio station plays 3 minutes of this musician followed by 3 minutes of another. I heard something crazy & great, and at the end an automated voice said "Bill Burr". First time I'd heard him. I said "Bill Burr Bill Burr Bill Burr" out loud, to memorize & remember, to look up more later.

The snippet I heard was about how pathetic it was to be the old guy hanging out at the cool nightclub, still trying to get laid like a young person. "Shirt unbuttoned too far, red chest-hair hanging out..." He said he had grown too old to continue the normal polite lying required to nod-along with whatever dumb shit a chick says, until she'd let him fuck her. Instead, he was much more motivated to 'tell the truth & see what happens'. Then sit-back and enjoy the show of confusion & indignation & half-baked replies & the carrot-and-the-stick of informing him he wouldn't be getting her into bed after-all.

The best thing Jordan Peterson says about telling the truth-- is that it's the best strategy for navigating in an unpredictable, murky environment.
If it's not clear which 'side' will prevail in a power struggle, it's folly to pick a side & handcuff yourself to it. Affiliate with truth & it may guide you thru the strife.

At times, a visual image forms in my mind-- I'll be listening to someone making claims-- their view of the world-- and I'll 'see' their description like scenery. Like props on a stage. Then the context changes. I'll apply their same claims to the new context. And it will be like looking at the stage from the 'wings', and all the props are revealed to be two-dimensional 'flats'. For years, Feminism has been an endless supply of trompe d'oeil peek-a-boo. "One in four women on college campuses are raped" (The study didn't even assess the rate of male victimhood.) "Reproductive rights!" (For men too?) "Female Genital Mutilation!" (Look at that scar around my cock.)

==
One anecdote I want to mention-- from those podcast episodes I recommended last-night-- was Dave Smith repeating something he told Joe Rogan. Smith said-- "Imagine that society operated to your liking, whatever that may be". (I pictured the unseen, unmentioned, off-screen politics of 'I Love Lucy' or the implicitly-worth-saving world that Superman keeps saving, in a cartoon.)

Smith then says, "And then you're told you have to choose between 3 politicians. Whoever you choose will change the world to their liking. One on the extreme left, one the extreme right, one a normal American 'centrist' neolib/neocon." (I pictured Ho Chi Minh, Mussolini, & Hillary Clinton holding hands with Dick Cheney.)

"After you hear about the Communist utopia, and the Fascist utopia, you hear the 'normal' centrists explain how we're going to drop bombs all over the world in forever wars-- fight a drug war at home-- complain about pollution while bailing-out the airline industry-- put Fauci in charge of your kid's health, etc." It wouldn't be immediately obvious at-all which 2 are the 'extremist' bad-idea options, and which one is supposed to be moderate & sane.

Smith went on to say that Trump was an attempt to say 'fuck it' jam-up the works of normie-bad business-as-usual. But he just upset people more. And now Biden is supposed to be a return to safe calm normalcy but-- apart from superficial imagery--- he's anything-but. Hunter Biden penis niece.

Although this may be out of date - I heard tell that laws on cremation were recently loosened in the US.

Assuming these relationships are reciprocal - it sounds like they could be good starting point to get a less subjective assessment of your qualities.

I have always been a very honest person. It causes interesting problems for me, but it also creates great opportunities. Somehow, I am very successful at my work at program management and technical sales. In this work, I make timing plans, and cost estimates, and technical presentations with lots of uncertainty in them. But... I don't have to lie. I am honest when I present a timing plan and make sure everyone understands it as a "goal" rather than a certainty. I think, since I have no desire to deceive, I can handle a great deal of uncertainty in my work. And I think people can tell I am honest with my assessment.

I have not always been right... but I have always spoken my mind as I see it.... with no intentional deception. As I have gotten older I tend to hold back my opinions more often...well...just so people don't get pissed at me. Haha. Many people hate facts...especially the ones that don't match their world-view. I don't like to spend time with these types of people (and thus my frequent fights with my brother and daughter).

I have a few lifelong friends that know me so well that I am free to say everything to them. It is such a gift. I am very lucky in this regard.

And so... it is no wonder I like Peterson.

Still no cooking gas in the building, since Friday. We're well-past the point of Saturday's fish being edible raw. Today the chinese landlord announced gas isn't coming back. Everybody must switch to electric stoves. No explanation. He's probably cheaping-out on a major repair. At least he comes in-person, in workwear with a flashlight on his headband, does his own dirty work.

I pulled a dozen large wire baskets out of a closing-business's trash pile. Expensive 'elfa' brand, for home storage. Got a bunch of compatible hardware free from Craiglist. Finally heeding Jordan Peterson's 'clean your room'. The middle room between bedroom & kitchen is full of boxes of stuff, clothing racks, a wall of cheap guitars, bicycle parts, tools. Also per Jordan Peterson: if there's an overdue bill you don't want to look-at, you'll put it on your desk-- and pile each additional notice on it-- and that little spot of chaos will grow & take over your desk, your office, your home, your life. It's a portal leaking chaos into your life. What's the Big 5 personality trait for 'Messy'? Opposite from Conscientious? I'm off the charts.

Oh-- I'd better provide proof for Lsuoma. :cdc:

So, as I house-putter, I listen to podcasts.

This episode of Free Man Beyond The Wall-- is a very clear & calm description of The Great Reset-- from a paranoid perspective-- but all the facts presented are verifiable. Yes, Bill Gates has said weird shit about using a vaccine to de-populate the world. Get spooked by stuff like that, or don't. It does offer an explanation to a lot of hard-to-fathom current events... https://libertarianinstitute.org/mance/572/

The problem with Peter Schiff's podcast is-- he posts episode even when he has nothing-much to say. He'll just read the day's financial ups & downs with his fast-talking 2 cents. But this episode is full of good stuff. Like how Biden's worker-leave program gives workers free 3-month paid vacations-- for whatever made-up 'emergency' they concoct. Turns everybody into Melody Hensley. And causes havoc on employers who keep losing workers for 3 months-- but can't fire them. Schiff doesn't mention MMT, but he talks about reasons the US Dollar is jeopardizing it's status as the world's reserve currency. And how the Fed is hiding inflation-- by calling 2020/21 a 'transitory event' which doesn't-count... they plan to resume counting inflation if/when it ever settles down.
https://www.schiffradio.com/fed-helps-b ... conomic-f/

Dave Smith also talked-good, this time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXgZeh-NdM0 40-some minutes into it-- he offers an excellent description of how we've deviated away from Normal (the 'centerist' dems became quite extreme)... and throwing Trump at the problem in exasperation-- only upset people more. So now Biden promised a return to the old normal-- but instead he's delivering a cuh-razy new journey into weird unknown territory.

All this stuff plus cold leftover coffee late at night-- is gelling into sharp snapshot of how-exactly the world is screwed-up right now.

Saw him play a few years back, as part of a Jimi Hendrix tribute tour. Not much of a Hendrix fan, but Jonny Lang and Kenny Wayne Shepard were in it, too. KWS does the best Voodoo Chile evah, even better than his mentor's, SRV.

Anyways, Wylde was, well, wild. Flamboyant, over-the-top frills, strutted through the crowd. Very good guitarist, but christ, he was loud. His guitar had tiger stripes or something on it.
