Wow. Carrier has burnt his bridges and then some. He has abused every academic could-be peer. He has jumped down the A Plus rabbit hole destroying his AS creds. He creeped out the SJettes and the Benson Myers old guard. He has now threatened FTB et al with bastard lawyers he can't afford. He has shamed a student and told bed stories about Skepticon's leader. Now he is threatening a harassed student with a law suit.

Has there ever been a more broken dolly in public view than this?

Has he tallied up his prof. and reputational assets and debts? Done a SWOT analysis. He is elyse without the vomit and shit.

IMHO that's the only winning strategy. But there's a difference. Shermer have an audience that does not recruit from the echo chamber, he can afford to focus on his writing and speaking without much loss.

Dick, on the other hand, has no audience to speak of and he'd have to ditch the entire club, redouble his efforts and do some proper science and work. I have doubts if he's capable of doing that.

Really?

At least we've just learned that Carrier won't have to worry about having any children to get in the way of his work. :chores-chopwood:

That was the budget for making the film, not counting the 100 million or so they spent marketing it. Barring a minor miracle the film is going to lose quite a bit of money.
I read somewhere that, as a rule of thumb, a Hollywood movie has to gross about twice it's stated budget to make a profit due to the additional cost of marketing, making the prints, the cut the cinemas take etc.

Ghostbusters 2016 is going to result in a huge loss for Sony.

Not sure if it's doxing, but the Ashley Miller public Facebook post that was linked a few pages ago is heating up nicely. The usual suspects are trashing Carrier and Damion made an appearance, only to be called a sealion and to have his statements dismissed with a frustrated sigh.

Were you expecting some?

BTW, here would be the perfect place for Watson to pass along the excess donations she got when Radford sent her a C+D. (Like she promised she would, unless it went to charity. Because you know how SJWs are when they promise to distribute money. {cough} Becky/Karen/Heina {cough})

I donating once I get home, but keeping it anonymous. I'd encourage everyone to do likewise if they have a few bucks to spare. Do it for spite, do it because you really think Carrier did something wrong, do it for the lulz. Money is money. Also keep in mind that more eyes means more funds (means more lulz, more sticking it to Carrier). Spread it through your social circles. The "sexual harasser sics lawyer on his victim" angle sells itself.

No thanks. Would prefer the SJW to blow their own money (which they will; here's another opportunity for them to virtue signal). Particularly since ultimately this is reinforcing their "epistemology".

Besides, Carrier is just bluffing: he knows it, they know it, we all know it. He can't afford to sue the lot of them. Throwing money at either side in this at this point is just throwing it away.

But more likely, you'll bump into a homeless woman without teeth at that time of the night. Or a tired hooker coming home from work.
I had a weird encounter with a chic in the grocery store around 1 am a couple of months back. She wanted my number the the "crazy going to say you raped me/got me pregnant" vibe was too strong.

So, like the music business, video gaming industry, etc. there are a lot of hands in the revenue stream. So by the time revenue stream gets to the studio, they can easily be down to 25%. So when we say $130 million, Sony is not likely to be getting more than half and they could be getting less.

So, this movie is going to be a financial disaster. They're likely to lose around $100 million. Maybe a bit more. Maybe a bit less.
The studios make the most money opening weekend. Every week the balance between studio and theater shift. So if you really like a movie and you give a fuck it's best to see it opening weekend and closing weekend. That way everyone gets some cheddar.

I bet the movie will make a very small profit due to all the tie ins.

I mean even I got the kids some ghostbuster themed twinkles.

Women activists, well, actually being activists, and making a difference for their gender with regards to an issue that was important to them.
Yielding to a high voltage campaign by activists, the Shani Shingnapur temple trust on Friday allowed women to enter the sanctum sanctorum, breaking the tradition followed for several decades.
http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/o ... 451406.ece

Not exactly earth-shattering or exciting stuff, but it seems to be an example of feminist activism done right. They more than likely didn't whine about "microaggressions" and "oppression" like the do-nothing crybaby regressives we are so used to - they did what it took to get an inequity repaired. That's way too much work for the slacker posers at Skepchick and FtB. Why do actual activism when you can write a clickbaity blog post, ya know? Real activism doesn't help the Patreon account. The list of ways the usual suspects have actually helped women could fill thimbles.

Oh god no. Deadpool will probably be the biggest hit this year if you are just considering straight profit from ticket and home release sales. Star Wars is just like printing movie.

No like I said at the end of the day I think Ghostbusters will make what was spend on it and maybe a little more. Movie studios don't mind a couple of those movies a year but GB was suppose to be Sony's big blockbuster movie and that is just unacceptable. I will be completely shocked if they make any sequels.

One day carrier will wake up. And it will be appropriate to take his tie and laces into protective custody.

........

How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free.
Perhaps they'll listen now.

For they could not love you
But still your love was true

And when no hope was left in sight on that starry
Starry night.
You took your life
As lovers often do;
But I could have told you
Vincent
This world was never
Meant for one
As beautiful as you.

And Dick has dirt on everyone involved. If Heina steps out of line, he can release whatever he has on her. He already accused Lauren Lane of rape and made her out to be a homewrecker.

I agree that Carrier is an asshole and shoulders most of the blame, but, as Dick made clear, Lane knew that Dick was married and engaged in a long-term, disgusting sexual affair with him.

Anyway I see what you are saying but I don't agree with it. Lana Lang's chief rival's relative, much like Hitler, did nothing wrong. I feel that way for everyone too. You want to sleep with married people sure go for it. It's on them to honor their commitment and say no.

I also received a C&D. It's transparently baseless, but no one should have to be as bored with legal threats as I am to talk harassment.

She's bored with legal threats so she either is or isn't going to talk about harassment. Which one is it? Is she talking about sexual harassment, or is she saying Carrier's lawsuit would be a SLAPP?

What makes you so sure Paul and Ophie haven't been into the hanky-panky together?
Ophelia doesn't have tentacles.

Wait, what?!?
Adolf Hitler (German: [ˈadɔlf ˈhɪtlɐ] ( listen); 20 April 1889 – 30 April 1945) was a German politician who was the leader of the Nazi Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei; NSDAP), Chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945, and Führer ("leader") of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945. As dictator of Nazi Germany, he initiated World War II in Europe with the invasion of Poland in September 1939 and was a central figure of the Holocaust.

Yeah I was thinking president for some reason.

Maybe it was the Clinton campaign that was playing while I was typing that :twatson:

Not in Germany during that point. They had a chancellor (Hitler, he who did nothing wrong) and a president (Paul Von Hindenburg).

Why I thought of Hindenburg when exposed to Clinton is beyond me :twatson:

I am salivating at the prospect of Zvan getting dragged in to this latest SJW mess.

Just imagine if Carrier and Zvan ever got in on? Ugly, I know. Picture Carrier jizzing on......oh, never mind.

More to consider:

Carrier addresses Zvan in his post:
Stephanie Zvan of The Orbit and PZ Myers of Freethought Blogs both claim they have spoken to “two other women” who have made claims against me. They released no details about those claims, just conclusory statements whose truth cannot be assessed. They conducted no professional investigation of any of those claims before publishing them, not even of the sort a competent journalist would perform. Such behavior is reckless, irresponsible, and unprofessional.
She's always grouped with PZ in that post. If Zvan got a C&D, did he also send one to PZ? What happened when Shermer sent PZ a C&D? I am happy to have lived long enough to see this day.

Oh, geez. I should have looked already. Looks like PZ also got a C&D, but he is using the word "sue" instead.
Remember the whole anticipation when Shermer's lawyer's deadline was coming up and PZ did nothing and Shermer did nothing and we were all disappointed? Maybe Dick won't disappointed. Nine more days.

And if you are still in a giving mood after giving to Amy Frank, please know that Heina has a new crowdfunding effort. She wants money for cats.

Why does it cost so much to drown stray cats?
