Are you legally underage, Cunt?
I'm nearly 30.
Young one! (just kidding, I'm freshly 35). But there are laws that make underage solicitations and subsequent providings by legal-aged third parties of pornographic pictures a liability. Add to this that the underage person threatens legal actions on the main board, and...well... do I need to call my lawyer now? (better call Saul!)

He's already told us he's pissed, so I imagine that's why he's posting rubbish like that and also why he's going on and on about something that lsuoma has already said isn't going to change.

The public threat had instantly undermined her credibility on that front, so it didn't worry me. However, a situation involving a minor soliciting private correspondence and explicit pictures cannot be ignored.

Your concern is much appreciated, though.

If memory serves (sometimes it does, sometimes not so much) the slash/fic begat a lot of cross talk with EU at the center. That wasn't what led to the ban, however. Somewhere in the mix, EU explicitly solicited photos of penises from the membership. That pulled everything to a grinding halt, the ban followed and for good reason. The ban was initially temporary while Lsuoma studied his options. In the course of that break, Lsuoma discovered EU posting in another forum in such a way that it convinced him that the potential legal exposure was real and present. Discussion with his lawywr SiL(?) confirmed his concerns and the ban was made permanent.

That my recollection, anyway. Lsuoma, does that ring any bells?
Sounds like what I recall, yes.
Yep. Her admission of being a minor and the threat to call the feds on Decius combined with her interactions elsewhere with a self-confessed paedophile led my SiL to advise me to ban her immediately and permanently.
The ban was a good idea; she attempted to solicit someone to break the law, itself illegal with the dick pic request. I would think that knowingly publishing someone's illegal request could be illegal. That and the threat would seal a permanent ban for me.
Also, I really enjoyed the podcast you did with Reap.

This may be my cynical old ass (that was for you Rocko) but OB thrice says "... making it worse" and then Felix (no idea who that is) says, "Your dialog IS the attacks."

How can the "rift" ever be healed if dialog "makes it worse" and "is the attacks"?

IMO it means they don't want the "rift" healed for the same reason RW attacks reddit. The money dries up if the victim narrative goes away.

Like I said, I'm cynical and old.

IMO they are very likely to get EXACTLY the man they deserve, because only a lying sack of shit could possibly 'fulfil' their requirements. There is not enough self-loathing in the entire worldwide population to make the men they want.

Rereading the Ophie/Josh/et al tweets to Nugent and recalling the threads ... it occurs to me that what they were complaining about, and what Ophie was claiming was "destroying her," was really simply the fact that he was allowing a dialogue including the Pit Crew without moderation or banning. If you read those tweets without reading the threads, you'd think people were spewing invective at Ophie and calling her a cunt, etc. (and "lying about her" -- I believe she tweeted that), but Ophie was in fact rarely mentioned at all, if I recall correctly.

They are simply furious that, having told us to stay the fuck away from their blogs and banning many of us, anyone with a public profile would allow the unbelievable truth to be revealed -- that people here have relevant points to make and citations to back them up, and are generally thoughtful, reasonable, and worst of all, numerous.

Exactly. Further, as usual, when outside their controlled environment, their arguments and claims are generally found to be wanting. Nugent clearly got much, much more than he had bargained for, likely based on the propaganda his FtB friends have been feeding him. It really was a good show.

I just need to say that Oolon and Aratina Cage are such incredible dishonest cunts that even glancing at their Twitter feeds raises my blood pressure. Actually, you basically only have to look at one of their feeds given that they are joined at the hip and in unceasing conversation. Josh and Ophie are another cute Twitter couple.

/Steersman on

I'm hesitant to endorse this particular approach without a proper scientific review (which, based on a cursory Googling I've been unable to find). That being said, the "proof is in the pudding" so to speak, and his testimonial and pictorial evidence are both compelling. It would be unfortunate if this were pure "snake oil", as many of the underlying principles seem to make sense on an intuitive level.

/Steersman off

It would be really, really fucking awesome if this really could be adapted to world wide use though. I'd so like to buy into the idea.

Exactly. Further, as usual, when outside their controlled environment, their arguments and claims are generally found to be wanting. Nugent clearly got much, much more than he had bargained for, likely based on the propaganda his FtB friends have been feeding him. It really was a good show.
Or on a more basic level... we have transgressed and therefore must be shunned. By his failure to shun us he has hurt the powers that be and has upset all that follow those powers. What are they supposed to think of him now? They are so confused and it's all his fault!

I'm just going to leave my rubbish here.
Give me a bit (like a day, I'm going out to a nightclub to celebrate my fiancee's friend's 30th) and I'll debate you, because I agree and disagree with points you make. Perhaps we could have *gasp* A LEVEL HEADED DISCUSSION that has never before been seen on both sides of the debate.

No need to get your blood pressure up. Those two are hilarious.

This is a very interesting TED Talk. The before and after photos are simply incredible.
Militant vegetarians are going to hate this guy. Poorly understood environmentalism is often one of their evangelizing methods.
Yes, PETA and vegetarians are going to bust a gasket learning you need herd animals to save large portions of desertified land. The eco warriors are going to trash this guy. I am sure FTB is on it already.

It would be really, really fucking awesome if this really could be adapted to world wide use though. I'd so like to buy into the idea.
First off, there is insufficient livestock to do this on the 50% of the 95% he is suggesting. This will have to be a gradual initiative as you grow the herds. During that time you can monitor the results and make adjustments both in quantity of animals and grazing patterns. The biggest hurdle to overcome is the "Cattle/Beef is Bad" both for you and for the environment meme. What is the worst case? It doesn't work and desertification continues.

This is the first initiative, that I have seen, that has hope of making real impact on the lives of people in the poorer parts of the world. Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors for cheap clean energy and this initiative to slow/prevent desertification, provide food, and a realizable carbon capture strategy. Carbon Tax and transfers will do nothing except make the US economy worse off than it already is. (This is my opinion and subject to change).

Exactly. They don't want us to be heard at all, and try to keep us confined to the Pit. They are now in a tizzy because we weren't silenced by someone they would normally consider an ally. Outraged because we weren't censored. And they're especially pissed off because people from the Pit went on Nugent's blog and spectacularly demonstrated that those people are as vicious and nasty as they accuse us of being.

Expect Ophelia Benson to start spewing out blog posts attacking Nugent the way she attacked (and continues to attack) Shermer when he didn't kiss FtB ass. They are small people and are completely predictable.

Rystefn can't have a love child, because he uses a screwdriver in place of his penis (which he uses to hammer nails).

I completely agree (assuming he isn't making things up and cherry picking his data points). Some of the rebuttals I read indicated that his approach would be unsuitable for large areas of NA, however, as they haven't seen migratory mega-herds since the ice ages, and the plants that grow there now are not adapted to this form of growth cycle. Can the plants be replaced without causing undue damage? I've no idea, I'm an idiot!

This really reminds me of the Dyson essay on being a heretic though. He brought up growing the topsoil as a solution to climate change, and this seems to provide a method of doing that. I'd really, really like to believe that we can find solutions to these global problems that will simultaneously increase the quality of life for most people.

What happened to Meyers's "Why I am an atheist" feature? Seems to have gone the same way as Becky Whatnot's "Thursday Bad Graph".

An old man is right twice a day. Or is that a broken clock?

In any event, WHAT THE FUCK. Surely Nugent saw that and went "Hang on a sec, maybe the Slymepitters aren't the crazy ones". FFS - dialog is the attack? Wtf.

DIALOGUE IS HARASSMENT TO THIS RIDICULOUS WOMAN.

I'm subscribed to his youtube channel. He's been following the Jodi Arias trial and commenting on it on youtube as recently as yesterday.
