Pyro-cumulus cloud from the #MosquitoFire, about 20 miles from me. 30,000 acres, 0% contained. Fire planes are grounded. Smoke is spreading all over the region; it's thick and nasty here at the ranch, the sun is a dull orange and the solar won't charge properly. AQI is like 900. Got sick just walking down & back to feed.

On some of the rural roads I drive, half the properties have for sale signs. The drug cartels will buy them. They really like the places with barns or big workshops. At least two of the recent local fires were started by faulty wiring at pot grows.

I'm using nasal irrigation to clear out my sinuses, and it's just occurred to me that the nozzle looks JUST like a herman gelmet, minus the banjo string.

Anymore, I tend to do things that take place in the real world, like my photography. That's why I rarely post here anymore, and when I do it's usually just one of my pics. I think it's because after 20+ years online, everything has gotten samey-samey. It's basically the same stupid arguments with the same stupid people, nothing new ever. I tend to think of the outside world, the real world, as a color photograph, while the online world is black and white and boring. It's just getting old and nothing ever really changes. The internet is a broken, depressing caricature of real life and maybe you're starting to realize that as well. Fresh air and sunshine is simply a million times better than the overcast gloom of the virtual world. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Here Bhurzum, run naked through this field of goldenrod I visited today. You'll feel better, I promise. But no molesting any deer, they frown upon that here in the States.

Sitting in my bed and crying. One of my dearest friends had a stroke. I initially thought it was minor but it sounds like he is in very bad shape. His kids are woke ingrate losers so I don’t know who will take care of him. His wife died 4 years ago from the same cancer my wife has.

Just a really bad month for me. I will visit my friend tomorrow in the hospital. My Covid should be over.

Getting old sucks really hard

I think I'm on the younger side of average for the pit, but still getting old and yeah. I've got a library full of games I'll probably never install and a growing list of TV shows I'll probably never get around to watching. I got together with some extended family and crushed trivia night at a local bar last week. Most fun I've had this year probably. The previous year's winner was when I had to help one of my wife's horse friends clear some trails.

Not that I'd just shut the internet off if possible. If I expressed a tenth of my genuine thoughts to anyone IRL I'd have even fewer friends than I do currently. Most people have to pay good money for an outlet like that.

My PhD was quantum chemistry, and my first jobs were computational chemistry. I was working in biotech and got into antibody design, then genomics. Got interested in the database side of things, and decided around 2000 to move fully into DBA work. More money, more choice of jobs, lots of freebies and swag from Oracle. From there things just fell out well for me. I've been getting more and more generalized, which seems to suit me.

I only ever made two active major decisions about my career: 1. Study chemistry at uni; 2. Move from science to computing. Everything else has been a bit of a random walk driven by good luck.

The way that she said it, so casually and matter-of-factly, really caught me off guard and reduced me to a cackling mound of breathless uselessness. If only I was twenty years younger - challenge accepted!
Youth is wasted on the young and knowledge is wasted on the old. What good is knowing anything if you don't act? Give the girl what she needs! :burn:

But no. Half your age plus 7 has always seemed like a good formula.

I do feel bad for the zoomers though. The popular notion is they're over sexed, but it's the exact opposite. Unprecedented access to porn, but nobody is getting laid. Neurotic and miserable.

I have read somewhere that young people are having less "real" sex than any generation since the 1960s. Very strange. Indoor cats... they are indoor cats.

Young people spend a lot of time staring at their navels. They have to label themselves and try to be part of some kind of oppressed group. They make many claims about their sexuality... but they don't really have that much sex. They medicalize all their issues... making lists of the mental diseases they have. No one has a personality... they all just have mental diseases.

Haha... I like your half age plus 7 years formula. Maybe when my wife kicks the bucket I will hunt for a 37 year old. Haha. What is funny is that I have a much lower sex drive than I used to. I think this is common and it doesn't really bother me. Sex is not very important to me now. It is kind of nice to not worry about having sex.

I do find myself looking at pretty young girls and thinking about how beautiful they are... but it is different than it used to be. I don't get aroused or anything... I just think about how fresh and healthy they are. Very strange... haha... creepy old man I guess.

and further... haha... I am shocked by how many young people are fat. Really. They are limiting their available sex partners simply because they are fat. It is unhealthy looking...but... popular media is trying to say these big fat people will be great sex partners. Does anyone really believe this? Is there really any man on earth that wants to fuck Lizzo? (except for her money). The menz are just being polite because they don't want to be attacked by the bitches... but really... no one really wants to fuck Lizzo.

My father, a many-titled expert in the field of psychology, once mentioned something that lodged itself in my skull - when we first become interested in sex, a mental process begins. Part of that process is centered around mate-selection when either conciously or subconciously, we form an idealized image of our perfect partner. As we mature, this image is tweaked, adjusted and refined. Finally, after some time, this "ideal specimen" becomes crystalized, almost immutable and burnt into our psyche.

He went on to explain why, as we become older and less interested in or driven by sexual urges, we still find ourselves drawn to the appearance of certain women. They share characteristics or features of our crystalized ideal. To put it bluntly, they're ringing our underpants dinner-bell and like a Pavlovian mutt, we start to drool.

Anyway, it was a drunken conversation many, many years ago and I've probably misunderstood a lot of what he said. However, I think your "creepy old man" comment is unwarranted. It's only creepy if you find yourself sneaking photographs, stealing underwear or drinking bathwater etc.

Disclaimer: I'm a fucking idiot and in no way qualified to comment upon any of the above.

Did you hear that the French police had to call Rover in 1997 to ask how to get an the engine out of a '61 Princess.

I hear you - I knock one out from time to time, and if someone I liked came on hot and strong I might do something about it, but likely not. Again, I'd probably crack one off about her later.

Just for shits and giggles I estimated my unique shag count over the years, and came up with around 20. Don't know whether that's above or below the mean figure, but I'm sure it's got a really, really long tail.

Also, how can you tell when it's your sister's period? You can taste the blood on your father's cock.

If you're putting a baby into a blender, why should you do it feet-first?

So you can jizz on its face as it starts to scream.

With the exception of my current darling wife, that's ALL before the age of 40, BTW. I was married to my first wife from 1986-2000, and the unique shag count during that time was three, two of those after we stopped being a functional couple in 1998.

How it's going:

Cancer suvivors.

How it started:
February 4, 2022: Joe Biden Bizarrely Greets Union Construction Workers In Maryland By Telling Them "Don't Jump!"

September 8, 2021 Joe Biden suffers blunder after telling children ‘don’t jump’ off balcony
"President Biden spoke: “How are you pal, how old are you?” The child responded: “Seven.” President Biden quipped: “You are getting old! By the way, the neat thing about America, every time we end up with a problem going into a serious circumstance, we come out better than when we came in. That’s because we are so diverse, that’s America. Be proud of it. And don’t jump.

People responded to the video on Twitter: “He’s made this ‘joke’ in front of cameras at least 4 times in the past year, all to people that were on an elevated level.”

Someone else commented: “He’s used that line before in 2020.”

"Others were more critical of Biden online.”

March 9, 2021 Media Rushed Out: President Biden takes no questions after he tells people to "Don't Jump"

September 1, 2020 "“You finally got out of your basement,” the man declared. “You’re not going to win Pennsylvania.” Biden, who was wearing a black face mask, pulled it down as he turned and yelled in a deadpan, “Don't jump!" (Covid spittle all-over those pizza boxes)

Moments later, Biden was flying back to Delaware, where, again, only THE SAME SMALL GROUP.... COMPOSED ENTIRELY OF REPORTERS was there to greet him."

Friday... (the big LED video screens, long lines of girls, models in white)... *should* have culminated like that "pyro-cumulus cloud" at top of page. My Zoolander boss was the faulty wiring between the fashion label client/ & me at the event location. Boss was glowing red with obsequious nonsense for weeks. Then, on showday, when everything executed perfectly, (despite him) everyone-involved was astounded.

Zoolander also hired a bunch of Production Assistants who had never PA'd before. And he hoarded them around himself... leaving me understaffed (but capable of managing alone)... and leaving GF far-more understaffed (running load-in for the next day's event, 25 blocks away). But these new PA's were pretty good workers & interesting people. And the PAs' not-so-good first impression/ of working for Zoolander/ resulted-in great relief... when they met me.

Saturday... (the large concrete venue) was an active construction site right-up-to showday. But GF transformed the venue. (No one else could have. She's at the top of her game.) Like I said-- the PAs had sussed-out on Fri... that Zoolander was confusing and no-fun. But I give clear instructions & am fun to be-around. So, by Saturday, the PAs knew who to ignore & who to obey. And my moses/muhammad role was to tell them GF was their new god.

In the morning the freight elevator broke down, and required a PA to physically push the doors shut, every time. In the afternoon-- even-that solution stopped-working. Many tons of rented stage lights, trusses, photo gear, rented hair-and-makeup tables & mirrors, and heavy steel benches for 800 guests' butts... needed-to exit.

Fortunately, the below-ground venue is connected by a passageway-- to a building across-the-street. So we opened a steel blast door & pushed all the gear over to that other loading dock... and burned-out that freight elevator, too. (Too many people pushing the buttons in the basement & street level & inside the elevator/ all at once.) But we got it running again.

Also-- Zoolander had-hired a doofus as tech director: "Peter Pumpkineater" is an ex- video guy-- he just hung-out with the camera crew & ignored the larger picture. Worse: he ignored GF's warning that he was fucking-up. Which left us with shitloads of power cables laid sloppy, underfoot across doorways & in the wrong-colors (according to fire code). And a disregard for egress laws... around all those benches & trusses. We were contractually-obligated to use the building's preferred electrician-company... and they + Pumpkineater put-us in jeopardy of failing fire-inspection & being shut-down.

Sunday... (the red-lit room)... The urge to throw a party popped into the head— of the daughter of a fashion designer— on Thursday night. Zoolander said “yes” to the job/ despite being overwhelmed by all-of-the-above. He passed it to GF & me... and we conjured the entire event while running the Fri & Sat shows. $1,000 spent on candy (which predictably ended-up stuck to leather furniture.) $8,000 on flowers. $10,000 liquor. $20,000 for the red lighting. And Zoolander (thinking he was being hip & clever) spent $600 on 50 pre-rolled joints. He was broken-hearted when told his weed wasn’t cool-enough for this crowd. The shortest baby-carrot joints I have ever seen. lol. I didn’t take any pictures— when the guest list of 100… turned-into 350 & the party was really swinging. The guests looked-like spoiled celeb assholes… BUT many were literally teenagers… and so the cunty entitled divas I expected… were actually childlike and docile. So— just under the surface— it felt like Stranger Things school dance (in The Upside-down) or a “Sweet 16” birthday party. The young cutting-edge DJs played… A-ha. Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’. Kate Bush, of course. And when a fuse breaker blew— the crowd sang fucking Wonderwall.

Monday… Today I was rigor mortis in bed, but not in pain. Supervised some gear load-out by phone. Told the new PAs how to invoice & submit out-of-pocket receipts for reimbursement. GF was already shopping for white oxford shirts, converse sneakers & white dickies pants for waiter uniforms… for the next event… thurs, fri, sat. (when I heard the uniform was “converse and dickies”, I thought it was those turlenecks-without-a-sweater.) Many bottles of Bulleitt & Tito’s came home with us. We had some dumb phone calls involving Zoolander. That fucking guy.

I had some heavy-thoughts... about whether-or-not I can keep compromising my dignity by leasing my time & my mind to Zoolander. He has become such a fuckup-- that GF jumped-in & save him from himself... and now she's indispensable. So she can veto all his nonsense. And so do I. But he defers to her (he has mommy issues)... but clashes with me, bigtime. He literally can't function on a 'dude' level. He doesn't comprehend that-- when I override his bad ideas... it's to stop self-immolation. It makes me feel crazy to think about his brain. I'm glad I have a few days off.

Heh...

The comments section is hilarious! Not only are the producers of this show playing footloose and fancy-free with the facts surrounding the "amazonian" warriors (spoiler: they got humped by the French), they're also ignoring, erasing or flat-out denying the role the Dahomey kingdom played in the slave trade.

However, as recent history has shown us, most black Americans will believe anything if it has a strong "white man bad" message.

That's the spirit!

It's not my formula, but it always sounded about right. I have friends with stable happy marriages and age gaps larger than that. If you're only concerned with a quick lay the numbers get trickier and vary by state. Dr. Richard Carrier PhD can assist you there.

Q: Why was it called 'Dahomey'?
A: Cuz that's where they lived.

Q: Why was it called 'Dahomey'?
A: Cuz "DaHomo" was already taken by Gazi Kodzo.

I tried to count, but I had trouble adding the times it was with 3/5ths of a person.
