It is a steaming pile of shite, but of course, those ranting about it on social media have been branded snowflakey conservatives, etc. Some are, but most are just pointing and laughing at it.Ape+lust wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 8:42 pmAnother corporate brand thinks "woke" scolding is the way forward in CURRENT_YEAR. They're getting killed in the comments. A common theme in the replies is "My wife's boyfriend thinks this is great", which Gillette favorited a couple of times before catching on

My question is this: How long, if it hasn't already happened, before some feminists use this horror story as an example of toxic masculinity and men's sense of entitlement to female bodies in order to advance their agenda?

We have a mantra - no amount of training is worth a life.
Live firing exercises are serious business and one of the few occasions where you unscrew your "mate" head and replace it with your "anal as fuck" head. I've lost count of the times I blew fuses with mates and resorted to screaming-skull mode. Rather that than have to explain why we lost a guy during a training scenario.
"Dry runs" are boring as fuck but we do them for a reason. Before the troops hit the ground, we conduct TEWTs (tactical exercise without troops) to rehearse commanders, give them a feel for the ground, walk/talk through the serials and to highlight common dangerous practices unique to the ground in use. These usually happen a week or so before the boots hit the ground - once the troops are in play, they're given a similar run-through (walk the area, highlight good cover/routes, talk through drills/skills etc) and we hammer safety into everything at all stages.
Hell, even the safety staff conduct their own dry-runs before the TEWTs begin.
If I had to sum up live firing in one word - from a safety staff point of view - it would be "anxiety."
Aye, it's a sad way for a soldier to go and I don't doubt the witch hunts will be lengthy, ruthless and deeply unpleasant for all involved.

Good God, man - I'm ex-cavalry!* "Tankers" (In the UK we say "Tankie" or "Coucil-house cavalry") are simply machine gun corps troops with delusions of adequacy. Cavalry are cut from far superior cloth.Suet Cardigan wrote: ↑As you're an ex tanker, Bhurzum, I thought you might like this<snip>
Having said that, good vid, thanks for sharing. A few observations:
1) The NBC pack/CTCS on that wagon is fucked.
2) She'd get the good news - covvies down, across the breech, watch my trace!
3) Do what you're told, gunner (safety switch to "safe", hand elevate, lean over and cuff the fucker in the teeth!) - TANK ACTION! - safety to "live."
I miss my old company car...*sniff*
* Full disclosure - I was a "Dragoon" - historically, a heavy infantry soldier mounted on horseback who would charge in with the cavalry (lancers, hussars and whatnot) then dismount to knee the enemy in the bollocks and suck out his eyeballs. Very important to get that last bit in the correct order! Anyway, in present-day terms, "Dragoons" are cavalry with a massive chip on their shoulder, a superiority complex and a slightly snobbish outlook on life. There are conventional forces, there are special forces then there are cavalry.

In hindsight I think they were just happy to practice keeping us in formation and moving with the added stress of lead being sprayed forth.
I also recall the idiot who sported mysterious lumps after being caught in the field with live 5.56 rounds mixed into his ammo pouch with blank ammo. Of course both are brass - easy to mistake at night. :bjarte:
Which conjures up an ancient memory. “I have no ammunition or range produce in my possession sir!”

Re: The Brive, CFB, and FTP Shitposting Thread (Yawn...)
The conspiracy bit about this being done to get men to vote like women is VERY retarded. PJW first rightly points out that rapists and creeps aren't going to be convinced to be better by a Gillette ad...but then goes on to argue that the "attacks" on masculinity are done to get people to change their political ideas.
Surprisingly enough, PJW is less dumb than many "red pillers" in pointing out that "boycotts" are pathetic and that the whole brouhaha is a lot of free advertising for Gillette, just like the Kaepernick shenanigans were a corporate tool for getting free ads for Nike. What he doesn't admit is that he's playing the same game, too.
Because this is what the whole thing is: a bland corporate message ("Don't be bullies! Be better men!") which uses SocJus lingo to create a "controversy" that allows them to get tons of media exposure. People like PJW are also piggybacking on the "outrage". It's a giant ball of nothing, but it gets people talking and buying/clicking/subscribing.
This is what the "culture wars" are about: no sinister plots to "brainwash" people into some plan crafted by a secretive cabal, but instead a great why to get attention (and so money/power) over trivial or nonsensical issues, without having to deliver anything of value.
Re: The Brive, CFB, and FTP Shitposting Thread (Yawn...)
So instead of it being a sinister plot by ideologs, the culture wars are a sinister plot by capitalists.
Nope. Gillette are leveraging an extant cultural conflict.

So you dismiss out of hand the comments from claimed P&G employees/ex employees about the "woke" company ethos? Are you certain that this is not simultaneously a cynical "threat" farming exercise and a political statement by the company? Do you dismiss the idea that a significant proportion of the corporate work environment is becoming a minefield for the non-PC and for non-apologetic whiteys? If these things are happening then it would seem dangerous to ignore propaganda reinforcing bullshit about toxic masculinity. Men who push back against this are being called insecure by white knights, IOW the usual shaming crap from feminists. The frog is close to being boiled already.Kirbmarc wrote: ↑Wed Jan 16, 2019 3:57 am

Re: The Brive, CFB, and FTP Shitposting Thread (Yawn...)
This seems to be the new viral marketing strategy. Corporations are a bit late to the game, but it still works. Give it a year or two and it won't anymore. People are catching on. You've got to hand it to Becky Watson, who can now be identified as a small-time pioneer of the technique: Create controversy/outrage; spur people to "bad" behavior. Profit off it. Not that I think it was some grand strategy. I think she kind of stumbled upon it, but she did have that one invaluable talent: she knew a good thing when she saw it. Credit where credit's due.
Re: The Brive, CFB, and FTP Shitposting Thread (Yawn...)
It's probably both, just as Watson is probably both a true believer and a grifter who knows a good con when she sees it. Which is the stronger tendency? In Gillette's case I think it's obvious. Upper management wouldn't greenlight an ad campaign if they seriously thought it would hurt sales.ThreeFlangedJavis wrote: ↑ Are you certain that this is not simultaneously a cynical "threat" farming exercise and a political statement by the company?

https://www.chortle.co.uk/news/2019/01/ ... dlocks?rssA white comedian has been banned from performing a stand-up gig because he has dreadlocks.
The venue, in Montreal, said Zach Poitras was guilty of cultural appropriation and excluded him from performing in the perhaps aptly named Snowflake Comedy Club last week.
The gig was held in the Co-op Les Récoltes, a bar run by a collective within the University of Quebec at Montreal that champions social issues.
In a 1,000-word explanation of its decision posted on Facebook, the venue said: ‘We will not tolerate any discrimination or harassment within our spaces.’
They argue that ‘it is a privilege to be able to wear dreads as a white person’ without experiencing the discrimination faced by black people; and said that a white person sporting the hairstyle was ‘a slap in the face’ for the ‘decades of colonialism, slavery and cultural genocide where black people have been persecuted and forbidden to practise their culture, wear their clothes and their hairstyles.

I'm wondering if the deplatforming we're seeing now is the inevitable result of Operation Choke Point, which was an Obama era initiative to crack down on banks that did business with anyone the US DOJ felt were doing illegal things.
