Beyond avoiding dead end wars, defending the territorial integrity of USA and avoiding the situational risk of presiding over a recession.. What else is a president practically meant to do? As a bonus Trump also meets some peoples need for American exceptionalism, some peoples need for an anti-federal federal, other people’s racist needs and yet others desire for a disrupter.
Only the hippy yippies are completely left out in the cold. And they all vote democrat anyway.

Trump could be shot dead in the middle of 5th Avenue tomorrow and the world would carry on.

The son of an oligarch that arranged the notorious Trump Tower meeting and has been asked to testify for Mueller's witchcunt has made a video about the matter.

So apparently, the Qanon story is that Mueller isn't really investigating Trump and Russian influence in the election, but Trump is actually working with Mueller to investigate the Deep State and the secret network of pedophiles that is actually running the world.
The fact that so many people actually buy into this crap has opened my eyes to how gullible so many people are and how dangerous various types of media are. (not talking about the "lame stream media")

Re: The Trump Dump!
QAnon appeared as a morph from PizzaGate. The far right is obsessed with pedophiles and pedophilia, to an absolutely abbhorent degree. I suspect part of it is the need to mirror the regressive left's use of Nazi, simply finding the worst insult they could find and painting all their enemies with it. Both sides believe their own propaganda, the dumb-ass fuckers.
Re: The Trump Dump!
Don't be fooled by the "fake news" story that Trump has a very poor approval rating. While it is less than most presidents at a similar point in their term... it is relatively close to others ... including Obama.
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/tr ... l-ratings/
In Michigan, Trump endorsed a black republican for Senate in the primaries and he (Jones) crushed it. I think Trump's endorsement really helped... but I haven't seen a good post primary analysis of this yet.

The news regarding Trump isn't all fake. He has a powerful hold on his base, but he has energized the opposition. Most Republicans conceed that the election is the Democrat's to lose. That they might will be a function of how much they're undermined by the far-left.John D wrote: ↑ Don't be fooled by the "fake news" story that Trump has a very poor approval rating. Re: The Trump Dump!
I would have thought on a site that has studiously covered the decline and fall of the Peezan Empire people would be able to recognize when a devoted core following takes over as a group sheds it outer members, which is what's been happening to Repubs. Yes, Trump's endorsement can upset a primary. So far it's fizzled on the national stage, and in districts where Reps have had solid historical leads they're either losing or winning by the skin of their teeth. Shit, the best thing that could happen to Dems would be for Reps to end up losing all their strong national contenders to primary challenges from Trumpkins who then lose the actual election. And given the party seems to be unable to change course that's either what's currently happening or what will soon happen.
Yes, Trump's unpopularity is notable, because he's been underwater from the beginning and not even once managed to break the surface.

Re: The Trump Dump!
And the rub is that the Republican party and the conservative movement have made their bed with Trump. Should he go down in the Mueller probe (which, despite his fans thinking otherwise, seems increasingly probable) he will take a huge chunk of the Republican reputation with it. A Republican congress and President have given us spiralling debt and a bloated budget. Reagan must be spinning in his grave. This isn't gonna look good for the Republicans, which might allow some of the regressive left to seize more of the Democratic party. Gonna be interesting, much like a slow motion car wreck.
Re: The Trump Dump!
The Trumpers are by far the largest group among Republican voters. 87% of Republicans approve of Trump. Trump and the GOP are both doing badly with independent/moderate voters, which might translate into a Democratic blue wave in November.CaptainFluffyBunny wrote: ↑And the rub is that the Republican party and the conservative movement have made their bed with Trump. When the Dems are able to curb the excesses of their SocJus fringe, or at least to distance themselves from their clownish antics, they attract support of the independent/moderates and mop the floor with the Trump fans. As much as idiots like PeeZee or the Online SocJus squad despise "fence sitters" or "centrists" you NEED to win over non-partisans and people who aren't very into politics to win elections. Partisanship increases participation, but it alienates moderates.
It's not a coincidence that the liberals/progressives who are not rabid SocJus fanatics, like Barack Obama, are actually trying to ditch at least the more electorally embarrassing excesses of "Social Justice":
The GOP is likely utterly FUBAR, opefully the Dems will take back the House, and maybe even the Senate, with some people who are not screeching SocJus idiots.

The US is not out of the danger zone (danger zone) yet...
Arguably the Dems could be even more likely to become enamoured of a celebrity stunt candidate than the 'Pubs - if all those stories of Oprah running for president are anything to go by.

Yeah, the far-left socialists are trying to take over the party. There's been a lot of socialists running in Democratic primaries, with mixed results.
We in the US really need a third, centrist party, but that's a pipe dream for the foreseeable future. Or maybe the socialist nutters forming their own party, but the entryist bastards find it easier to hijack the democrats.

Re: The Trump Dump!
I don't think she will. The general public has soured a bit on celebrity presidents, and Oprah can probably tell which way the wind is blowing. I hope.
Re: The Trump Dump!
I think that Kamala Harris or Elizabeth Warren are two more likely choices. I wouldn't mind Warren, but I think Harris would win in a primaey against her, if only because she's beloved by the donor class (and she can easily trick the SJWs into thinking Warren is an Evil Culturally Insensitive White Woman who pretended to be Native American). Bernie Sanders could also run again, although I think he's too old by now, and he'll likely support Warren instead, especially since by now the Dems are probably dead-set on having a woman as a candidate. My ideal candidate would be Tulsi Gabbard. Hopefully it won't be Kirsten Gillibrand, she's a SocJus enthusiast.CaptainFluffyBunny wrote: ↑I don't think she will. Every choice would be better than Trump of course.
Re: The Trump Dump!
The debate over Oprah on the left basically broke down into two camps:
-"No more celebrities. The Presidency should not be an entry level position."
-"Don't ever, ever, EVER tell a black woman she can't or shouldn't do ANYTHING!"
Thankfully the first camp seems far larger and in the end won out, but as usual the latter is still distressingly large and vocal and being shot down on this issue only makes them more determined and resentful.

Re: The Trump Dump!
Well, if not Oprah, how 'bout the black chick from the Ghostbusters remake. Sassy, and knows how to deal with men, right?
Re: The Trump Dump!
That's why I think that Kamala Harris will win the Democratic primary. She's a black (well, half-black half-Indian) woman AND has a career in politics. The Dem donors like her too. She's the best of both worlds for the "woke" AND the friendly corps. I could see her getting Hillary Clinton's and Michelle Obama's support, and trashing any opponent as a White Men or a White Woman. Tulsi Gabbard, who's not white, is not as liked by the donors as Harris.Sunder wrote: ↑ The debate over Oprah on the left basically broke down into two camps:

I'm not a big fan of Harris, since she's Hillary 2.0, but anything is better than Trump, and at least she's not Kirsten Gillibrand.
Re: The Trump Dump!
This is an interesting article about Harris
Name recognition is easy to build: not many people knew who Obama was in 2006, after all. I could see Harris running against Warren and using Warren's lies about being Native American to get people on her side.Sen. Kamala Harris has not officially said she is running in 2020, but she hasn’t denied it, either, and she’s showing many of the signs of someone who is preparing for a run, including campaigning for her Democratic colleagues in key races and signing a deal to write a book. The Californian ranks low in polls of the potential Democratic 2020 field, and she doesn’t have the name recognition of other contenders. (Her first name is still widely mispronounced — it’s COM-ma-la.) But betting markets have her near the top, reflecting the view among political insiders that Harris could win the Democratic nomination with a coalition of well-educated whites and blacks, the way Obama did in 2008.

Right now Biden is getting good poll numbers. He's old, but not older than Trump. And imagine Comhcincs joy.
Re: The Trump Dump!
Right now. But in a primary against Kamala Harris? Biden is not great at speeches and he's going to be shamed as an Old White Male by the SocJus. I don't see liberal women or minorities being incredibly willing to pick him over a half-black woman. Let's face it, identity politics are here to stay.CaptainFluffyBunny wrote: ↑ Right now Biden is getting good poll numbers. He's old, but not older than Trump. And imagine Comhcincs joy.
Harris might get him to be her vice-president, though, to get some of his appeal to moderates in the general election. Can someone who has been vice-president be elected again the same office?

It was fiscal responsibility until it was time for a new expensive war. But Trump managed to go massively over budget just with trade wars.CaptainFluffyBunny wrote: ↑ One of the biggest reasons I had respect for the Republican party was fiscal responsibility. Not so much anymore.

The first-past-the-post, winner-takes-all system is itself part of the problem, since if a fringe, extreme candidate wins a primary they still get the support of all the people who don't want the other candidate to win.d4m10n wrote: ↑The nutters already have at least a couple of parties all their own, but they tend to function as spoilers in major elections, given our first-past-the-post winner-takes-all non-parlimentary system.CaptainFluffyBunny wrote: ↑Or maybe the socialist nutters forming their own party, but the entryist bastards find it easier to hijack the democrats.

Re: The Trump Dump!
Yeah, the USA would profit from a more representative parliamentary system, but come one, it's never going to change. Plus, the two-party system will never grant a real democracy as long as they offer the same main key policies (geopolitics, upholding the statu quo of the US political system) while arguing during the elections mostly about less important, cosmetical/moral issues (guns, weed, gays).
By the way, speaking of Trump and Russia, the US is planning to house a new bank system asking foreign owners of bank accounts to give their personal data, while not allowing banks from other countries to demand the same. Of course, noone's buying it, but it has proven to be quite convenient for Russian investors.

The US already has a giant loophole that allows for people to launder money through real estate anonymously by creating LLC.s There is speculation that the real dirt the Russians have on Trump is that Russian oligarch/mobsters have been buying up Trump properties at a high rate and there is some illegal activity behind it. Remember Donald Jr. saying a few years ago that Russians were their biggest source of money.

This is turning into a purge. The democrats need to regain power, then demand that every email and record they can get their hands on from the FBI and inspect them for disparaging comments made against democrats. By the time the two sides are finished firing people the FBI will be completely gutted.

Brennan is a complete piece of shit. I think it is hilarious that Trump snubbed Brennan by doing about the only thing he could do to piss the guy off. People like Brennan scare the fuck out of me... way more than Trump scares me. Brennan and Comey had so much unchecked power I think they felt they were actually running the country. This is not good. I feel like a purge is actually good for America. There is not enough oversite of Federal agencies because Congress is full of lazy whores... who really don't care about the American people. At least Trump shits on these guys once in a while. Maybe it will help them keep their noses a bit cleaner.

No... I don't see the "deep state" this way. I guess I really don't like the description of "deep state" in any way.free thoughtpolice wrote: ↑All the special prosecutors are part of the deep state so they would clear her just like all those demonrat democrats in the FBI. What I believe is that large government bureaucracies are prone to misdeeds. This happens to any organization that is not under pressure to perform. I guess there is some pressure that the public puts on the CIA and FBI to perform, but, the truth is that we really have very few ways to measure and verify their performance. Congress is supposed to oversee these organizations, but they do a very poor job.
Brennan, Comey and the like are self-promoting whores. Of course they are. If they were not, they would not rise to the top of these types of organizations. I think that government organizations are particularly flawed since private organizations normally have pressure to perform. A poorly run business will often go out of business, or fire their CEO, etc.
In general, I believe that the lack of competition is one of the reasons government services are so shitty. They have no competition and they put up barriers to the public getting efficient service. Facts is... everyone tends toward being lazy... people are just human. People also tend toward collecting power and status.
So... Brennan.. and the like... are self promoting whores... for the most part.
I would mostly prefer a strong oversight of these organizations by Congress, but very few politicians are effective or useful on this topic. Maybe Rand Paul does this a bit, but both Dems and Reps are very good at passing off their responsibilities to career bureaucrats. So, I am sort of okay with Trump pissing on Comey and Brennan. They deserve some kind of punishment for their fraudulent, unethical, and/or criminal behavior.

Re: The Trump Dump!
What fraudulent behavior is Brennan guilty of? Comey screwed the pooch during the election, but he was in a tight spot, and he probably helped Trump get elected with the investigation reveal and his failure to let the American people know just how interested Russia was in getting Trump elected. A lot of people that work with Comey and Brennan have a lot of respect for them, which should say something to their character and performance.John D wrote: ↑No...

Re: The Trump Dump!
As to Hillary, they did investigate. There are dozens of private investigations on her as well, all trying desperately to find the dirt. Mind you, I wouldn't be unhappy if they did. That woman did the country a grave disservice by putting her ego ahead of any other consideration, playing unfair in the primary and by losing an election that should have been a cakewalk. Fuck her. Not literally.
So back in the day President Clinton and Hillary were invited to a baseball game as guests on honor. The game is about to start when Bill Clinton suddenly picks up Hillary and tosses her onto the field. The Secret Service agent urgently then whispers in Bill's ear "No, Mr President, the first pitch"

Re: The Trump Dump!
Keep staring at the swinging watch John D. Trump good. FBI bad. It wasn't Trump hobnobbing with the Russkies, it was Hillary Clinton. Trump always tells the truth, even when he is lying. Everyone one that criticizes Trump is lying, even when they tell the truth. The CIA lied about the WMDs so they must be lying now.
Count to 10, open your eyes and forget we even talked about this.

You didn’t watch the video. :(Old_ones wrote: ↑Amazingly I didn't hear about this. Imagine that, a world where the dreadful M$M told us about a president who publicly compiled an "enemies list" and abused his power to punish them instead of some plebs outside Maxine Waters' house attacking a piece of fabric.
This is a distraction. Flag burning is no different than religious blasphemy: its an attack on the sanctity of an idea that has no real world consequence, or importance. People like you who post this kind of shit, as though it matters, are useful idiots for corrupt politicians who want to draw a false equivalency between the menace of a lawless president backed by a corrupt political party, and the annoyance of a bunch of twats spouting nonsense.
By the way, before you respond with false claims about how Hillary and the democrats are just as corrupt, here are some facts for you.
Investigations with associated indictment and guilty verdict count
Trump/Russia collusion Indictments: 35 ; Guilty verdicts: 5 (so far all plead, but watch for this count to go up in the next week)
Hillary Clinton/Benghazi* Indictments: 0 ; Guilty verdicts: 0
Hillary Clinton/email Indictments: 0 ; Guilty verdicts: 0
*really several investigations that I are often lumped together

One of the candidates for president in 2016 was actually a crook surrounded by corrupt people. Lets see if a non-scientist like you can make sense of the data and figure out which one.
The issue was that Waters stirred up demands for physical harassment. Her supporters turned up to a right wing no show and violently attacked peaceful people passing through. They burnt the flag - but more importantly they stole it and destroyed it chanting racial identitarian slogans. And Waters went on to condemn the no show right wingers in preference to the actual violent actors.
And Nancy is gushing. Because of colour.
This is why there will be four more years.
