The gentleman at the back is called Sven Tinkledrink, and he and the other chap (Gus van Pectogrope) have just finished a floor show in an Amsterdam nightclub which involved baby oil, two yards of Bockwurst links, and a flagrant disregard for anal hygiene. Sven is exhausted (physically, mentally, and spiritually), and so Gus is approaching the audience to ask them what they thought of the show. The clip is noteworthy for being the last known footage of Sven prior to a severe rectal prolapse, which occurred during a particularly grueling "Scheisse und Pissenkopf" routine in Berlin and which led to him spending the remaining three years of his life with approximately two thirds of his large bowel swinging around his ankles. (Of further note, this allowed him to develop his solo act wherein audience members would restrain him in various stress positions using his own innards. Particularly popular in Thailand, Sven performed this show nightly during a six month residency at the "Bigboy Peek Peek Longcum Rainbow" hotel, casino, and dwarf sanctuary in Bangkok.)comhcinc wrote: ↑I believe you are getting the hang of this. I think that depends on whether you believe that bigfoot is a necessary axiom for understanding anything else about reality.

The Auchentoshan three wood is my favorite non-Islay scotch. Its about $50, if I remember, and it's rich and has a nice nuttiness to it and good complexity. For the price it is one of the best single malts I've ever had, although Laphroaig gives it a run for it's money (that's an Islay scotch, of course). The Balvenie portwood 21 year is also amazing, but you will pay a lot for that whiskey. I would say it's my favorite, but I've only had one bottle of it because it is too pricey for a man of modest means like myself.dogen wrote: ↑ Hey pitters -- I've long enjoyed drinking good scotch whiskey, and in the past couple of years have been going about things methodical-like, trying out the various distilleries on Islay (because I love the smoky taste). The only non-Islay whiskey I've had recently was Oban, which I loved. So, I figure I need to explore other styles a bit and broaden my horizons.
So, shitheads: name the non-Islay scotch that you love, so that I may taste the goodness thereof. Etc etc.

I think this applies to a lot of young trans people if they were able to be honest with themselves. We have gone a little too far and people think it's okay to take a fetish (ie sexy fun times) and apply it to their whole life. That might work for some of them but I think a lot will find themselves ultimately unhappy with what they have done to themselves.

That stuff has grated on me for a while now. I just sorta assumed that better, more honest thinkers outgrew the need for a Newtonian point to hang all of their beliefs on. When I hear a first-principles, syllogistic argument, I assume I'm firmly in the realm of evangelism, political or otherwise.Shatterface wrote: ↑Mon Jun 25, 2018 8:07 amMost people manage to pay for their groceries and set their watches without a deep understanding of number theory and we get through most days without killing or raping each other without securely grounding our ethics. Pointing out contradictions in nonsensical ideas is one thing. But needing a rigid logical edifice for fuzzy stuff like ethics or ontology seems like a red flag of some sort. Like it's more of a justification than an explanation.

There was wry humour in her tweet.comhcinc wrote: ↑Maybe...but seems to me she was trying to get people to watch/buy her new videos. In it Buchanan is quoted as making the shocking point that immigration is artificially altering the demography of the United States :o
He specifically mentioned the “political, social, racial, ethnic — character of the country”.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/24/opin ... ction.html
The author helpfully characterised this as “Make no mistake here, Buchanan is talking about protecting white dominance, white culture, white majorities and white power”. Which, Von Däniken style, leads to the click bait headline. MSM in action.
And guess which Swiss 🇨🇭 pipe layer lapped it up on the Voldemort thread?
Re: There are 2018 genders... and a bitch ain't one
Maybe. Though there seems to be some justification for arguing that, for example, number theory - or at least the elements of "reality" that numbers seek to model - undergirds many of our values and perceptions and behaviours. Why there there is some justification for trying to acquire some of that "deep understanding" - for example, forewarned is forearmed or, biblically/metaphorically speaking, "the fear of gawd is the beginning of wisdom".Shatterface wrote: ↑ Most people manage to pay for their groceries and set their watches without a deep understanding of number theory and we get through most days without killing or raping each other without securely grounding our ethics. But, for instance, I've just finished reading a popularization of the mathematics of symmetry - The Equation That Couldn't Be Solved: How Mathematical Genius Discovered the Language of Symmetry; highly recommended - that, as an example, notes that the kinship relationships of the Karieri people, an indigenous Australian tribe, were equivalent to a particular mathematical structure, the Klein four-group (not to be confused with "four-person anti-Nazi Resistance groups" ...) Moot how the Karieri managed to hit on that structure, which presumably has or had some value, and I doubt they had any actual "deep understanding" of what lay behind it. But hard not to argue that, maybe, the inchoate or barely perceived aesthetic aspects of that structure motivated its use.
And the book is replete with many other similar examples - perceptions of symmetry have motivated much art and many choices of values over a very long period of our history. And framing our search for workable ethics and value systems in terms of mathematical axioms provides a useful analogy that permits, ideally, an understanding that both are frequently little more than articles of faith that we have no choice but to proceed - provisionally - as if they were true.

On the contrary...
Re: There are 2018 genders... and a bitch ain't one
She scrapes a 7 for the effort. The production qualities, especially for an amateur effort, are very good. Caolin (sic) reuses his atmosphere footage a bit much and the incessant mood music is too prominent. But meh.
For a two person show, the breadth is very good. Nice number of interviews including the nasty blacks.
She obviously has been asked to do the 5 year old thing and thus speaks too slowly.
The major issue is that it didn’t feel like it was supporting a strong narrative. She didn’t want to push the agenda, hoping her subject matter would provide clarity. But besides “the blacks are being racists and are murderers” there really wasn’t that much depth. Despite the interesting interviews.
Still. Impressive for an independent alt media. And a lot better than the Beginners Guide to Islam.

A violent video has emerged showing the moment four women punched and kicked a man to the floor at Leicester Square Tube station.
TfL staff could be seen trying to restrain the women as they repeatedly lashed out in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The British Transport Police (BTP) said four women were arrested at the scene but have since been released under investigation.
The video shows the group beating the man to the floor before stamping on him as horrified onlookers screamed in panic.
The man could be seen lying seemingly unconscious on the floor as one woman tells another: “no more, no more, enough, no more”.
He suffered a broken eye socket and cuts to the face, The Sun reports. It's not clear what sparked the incident.
Four women were arrested at the scene.
A BTP spokesman said: “The women – a 26-year-old from Romford, a 22-year-old from Dagenham and two other 22-year-olds of no fixed address – were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm, violent disorder and affray.
“During their arrest, two police officers were also assaulted and one of the 22-year-olds was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting them.
“All four have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”

I like Pat Buchanan. IMO, he's wrong 9 times out of 10, but that 10th one, man, he knocks it out of the park. Also an excellent writer - succinct, great vocabulary without being pretentious. He's able to see behind the kabuki of the political stage to the players' real motivations; has thought long & hard about an issue forcing you to as well.
IIRC, what he said about WWII was, the Western allies shouldn't have fallen for their own wartime propaganda about the Soviets.
A few years ago, he observed we had no reason anymore to be allies with Turkey, and presciently warned Turkey would soon be trouble for us.
Buchanan was also caught up in the 2000 presidential election scandal. The notorious "butterfly ballot" in Florida caused thousands of intended Gore voters to mark Buchanan's name by mistake (he got like five times what he did in any other state). Buchanan acknowledged most of those votes, thus FL, thus the election, should have gone to Gore, because (paraphrase) 'I'm not anywhere near that popular.'

The Metro goes for:
A gang of women wearing dresses kicked a man to the ground with their stiletto heels at a London tube station after a night out.
https://metro.co.uk/2018/06/26/man-beat ... to=cbshare
Maybe 'women in dresses' is going to be the code we have to communicate in, just like 'Asian' rape gangs.

There's a nice article over at Quillette by Rafael Avila de Espindola, who resigned from the open-source LLVM compiler project over concerns with the Code of Conduct. He provides a really outstanding characterization of why organizational pushes toward diversity totally miss the mark:
Full article at https://quillette.com/2018/06/26/divers ... en-source/Problems arise, however, when objectives are confused with indicators. A similar confusion occurs in other areas. In economics, it is known as ‘Goodhart’s Law‘: “When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure.” In the case of diversity, this confusion is particularly unfortunate. The use of discrimination to meet quotas at the expense of merit is exactly the opposite of what made diversity initiatives laudable in the first place.

Many of the comments hit it out of the park, too. Once again, it's striking that the SJW movement appears to be driven by people with an unquenchable thirst for public adulation, but with no discernible talent whatsoever. It's like the movement would collapse if we discovered a cure for cluster B personality disorders.People see an active and productive group of people doing something they don’t understand in the least, and some of the more ridiculous among them who can’t get any status from their coding ability do it a different way. They are trying to solve a problem, and it is their relevance. Free software projects have always had an ethic of valuable contribution; show me the code. That is hard, extremely hard. So the goal is to control and be important without having to do the hard work of developing skills to be able to contribute in a positive way.

On a different note: thanks for the whiskey recommendations. I think I'm definitely going to try out some Speyside single malts; drinking Laphroaig last night, I was reminded of TCP and resolved to go for something a little more palatable.

It's a solid ruling, grounded in the law and the constitutional powers of the executive branch. Mindless, emotionally-driven apoplexy of Lefties in 3...2...1...
But, speaking of "emotionally-driven apoplexy":

I think the only Trump derangement syndrome is the fact that so many people support the lying crackpot.

But yeah - crazier than the proverbial shit-house rats. In some related news, another fairly recent post at Quillette on "Why women don't code" by Stuart Reges which has produced the expect anathematization from the usual suspects:
Though that - women not being able to code - is of course a stereotype, but, as is the nature of such, there's a fair amount of truth and justification for it. But some interesting comments in the Quillette article, particularly from several women; not sure how much justification there is for their "complaints" - no doubt there is some "asymmetry" there, some sexism - but one might suggest that many are somewhat overly sensitive.

At WEIT, Coyne rightly slams JPB for his God obscurantism. The comment stream has, naturally, been bogarted by the usual SJW suspects straw-manning their new Emmanuel Goldstein.

This is good, but at 60%, it'll fuck you up if you over indulge. Ice sinks in it.

LoL. Pray tell, where have I EVER said that Trump was perfect? I have only said, repeatedly - and more or less, that he was, and is, the lesser of two weevils - a concept that many, including you, seem to have some difficulty with. And that by a very long shot.free thoughtpolice wrote: ↑Oh those crazy lefties and their irrational hatred for Trump.Steersman wrote: ↑Hallelujah brother!
