Re: In 2017 Idiocracy is a Documentary
Anybody watching this RedPillBlack fiasco.... witch hunt?
As far as I can see, Candice had an idea for a website which was absolutely fucking horrendous, in just the typically normal way a normie would tackle bullying online. I have heard dozens of politicians and public figures suggest just this kind of thing; not because they want end free speech or ruin the lives of people they don't like the opinions of. They just don't know any better and haven't thought it through.
At the time a lot of us tried to reach out to her to let her know what an awful idea it was. Anyway she got red pilled and became a conservative.
Now it seems like some people only just twigged to who she was and are subjecting her to purity tests. That cunt, Jeff Holiday even asked her to change her splash page to just say "Doxxing is bad" and Dave Cullen has been spamming her with, "will you acknowledge that Social Autopsy was a doxing service?".
Apparently, a website which she was trying to get funding for and was never actually working (which is why she was asking for funding) is proof she is a scam artist because she never bothered to remove the placeholder pages.
Suddenly the "skeptic community" seems to have turned into mind readers, knowing what her motives were and exactly what she has lied about, seemingly without a shred of evidence.
She may well be an opportunistic attention whore who is telling everyone what they want to hear, but that remains to be seen. From what I am standing, it looks like the skepti-left are going after her because she is actually "conservative" and has talked to PJ Watson. And the Libertarian alt-light are going after be because has sinned against the first amendment in the distant past.
She obviously hasn't apologized enough or done enough penance.

Nope. Any chance a few SJWers are trying to capitilize on any divide to take her down and are fanning the flames?VickyCaramel wrote:Anybody watching this RedPillBlack fiasco.... witch hunt?
In any case, the conspiracy theorists can be the absolute worst. You give a dog a bone, and they won't let go of it for the life of themselves. Pizzagate, "The Jews," 911 truthers. They accumulate and exchange bad ideas.

In 2017, this means nothing.n addition to the scrubbing of the InfoWars article about Ms. Mercer and the Common Core strap-on, the truthfulness of this item was doubtful because no legitimate news outlets covered the story.
Re: In 2017 Idiocracy is a Documentary
I've been noticing murmuring on twitter but not investigated. Candace Owens seemed a bit unhinged from the get go. Too quick to pull a 180. Too happy to jump to conspiracy where more mundane explanations would do. Now I'm hearing her awful idea of a website is still up, and wonder what her game in all this is.
Re: In 2017 Idiocracy is a Documentary
This is a fascinating analysis. I didn't watch the video (I just...can't). How does atheist rate on the hierarchy? Above or below Muslim? How would a white male atheist compare to a black male Christian? I want to be a victim too!piginthecity wrote: The argument that Palooka is making runs as follows:
1) Atheism is largely made up of white males.
2) White males are currently excluded from something called "The Table" of something called "The Liberal Community".
3) White males are currently underprivileged by this exclusion and require a vehicle in order to enter this "The Table".
4) "Atheism" can be a vehicle for white males to access this "The Table". Or, as he puts it a "Critical Gateway" to the "The Table".
5) In order for "Atheism" to function as such a vehicle, then it must first be moulded into an "intersectional" shape, which means it must adopt all the neo-Marxist ethics based on group rights with which we are all too familiar, and, goes without saying, expel the likes of you and I.
Now, in all my years studying this phenomenon, it has never, ever, even once, even for a nanosecond, occurred to me that logic such as this might be the motivating force behind the (white male) SJW's.
If true, this means that, to them, their first and most important identity and loyalty is that of a "White Male". Their chief motivation is to improve the status of "White Males" such as themselves. All the fuss about "intersectionality", all the thought policing, all the "Fuck Yous!" all the rage-blogs of Myers, the simpering sanctimony of Shives, the impenetrable word-salads of Nerd of Redhead, the weird twisty-turny machinations of Dicky Carrier, all of it, has one purpose only, and that is to increase the status of "White Males" within the communities which they value.
The entire SJW project is about empowering White Males !!!!!!!!
Not only that, but you and I, in opposing the SocJus are betraying and sabotaging White Males. Those of us in that demographic are in fact Gender Traitors !!!!!
If this is a true reflection, then first of all I admit I am a complete idiot for not having a clue about their motivations for all these years. And secondly it's no wonder that the White Male SJW' are the most batshit insane of them all because of cognitive dissonance.

There was a similar fake story built around video of some woman shouting about pomegranates that made me suspicious.
Hard left and right dipshits and shit-stirrers aren't satisfied with having plenty of genuine things they can take their opponents to task with, they always have to make up extra shit that backfires in their stupid fucking faces.
Just fucking verify everything. Trust is not the default anymore. Everyone is trying to sell you bullshit.

She has found a place for herself sitting next to Alex Jones on InfoWars, so I am amazed she didn't blame the illuminati, but this kind of thing isn't normally cause for a witch hunt.

Jeff Holliday is 'That Cunt' ? (Sounds like a 1960s TV show). Is this based on his behaviour on this issue - or does he have form. Would you care to unpack this for me Vicky?
Anyway - I had not been following the the RedPillBlack scandal either - but here is youtuber Tree of Logic's take on it:
nb Tree identifies as a 'race realist', and a conservative, and (if I'm not mistaken) alt-right. She does not lump herself in with the skeptic crowd on youtube (and is pretty much in opposition to them). So, this is not a left/right issue per se.

Well despite her asking for kickstarters to make this work, to design the back end. And despite her saying in her story that they had never developed a backend... it seems that some people seem to have jumped to the conclusion that a standard set of placeholder pages on a web domain is a fully functioning tool for doxing. It doesn't seemed to have occurred to anybody that she isn't a web designer and she probably paid somebody to put those pages up, and may well have had to pay somebody to take them down.deLurch wrote:With RedPillBlack, why are various youtube personalities thinking that Social Autopsy will come back? Somehow they seem to have jumped to the conclusion that because she didn't take a flamethrower to the website and then douse it with holy water, that it really isn't dead until a stake has been driven through it's heart.
She has said that her heart was in the right place although she was incredibly naive. Thats certainly the conclusion most of us came to before she did when we first heard about Social Autopsy.

I believe I understand what is happening with the Rohingya. Put very simply it is a cultural clash and the Rohingya supremacism has written cheques that they never had the resources to cash against the Myanmar supremacism (IOW Buddhism (88%) vs minority Muslim (5%)).
I am not saying who started it. That is actually immaterial. The fact of the matter is that it is occurring within a culture where a quick escalation to violence as a dispute resolution mechanism is common, and given the incompatibility between the cultures and the inability of the populations in conflict to merge, the result is inevitable.
Meanwhile the West twitters and wrings it's hands in incomprehension. But of course the West firmly believes in "diversity" and "multiculturalism" so no surprise there.
Anyway, unless the West wants to invade, bombs, boots on the ground, etc. etc. the Rohingya are going to be exterminated. There is not enough sympathy for them within the rest of Burma to maintain a viable existence.
(As I noted above this is very simplistic. The reality is much more complex and I am pretty sure I have missed much. I am not going to pretend I understand everything. I do not. What I do understand is enough to predict the outcome in this situation )
My only advice is fuck the main stream media and that is it. Were is the outrage of the ethnic cleaning of Hindus from Bangladesh yet we are supposed to be outraged that the Burma reacts to 14 of their police stations getting attacked by muslims (37 dead) trying to force their own ethnostate in a foreign land where there have been many abuses of the locals.

So absolutely nothing new.
Obviously Candice tends to have a bit of a firey personality. Appears to be highly on the defensive. And like many other people loath to face up to admitting past mistakes. She has admitted her errors to the extent that she felt comfortable with at the time, and kind of left it behind her. Clearly this is too much for her at once to address in a calm non-defensive manner.
If people soft-shoed the "Hey, we noticed the website framework is still up, and it looks bad." She might have bothered to take it down.

I am reminded of some the debates in parliament where they have been talking about online harassment. It is easy to forget that free speech with anonymity is essential but a double edged sword. It is also easy to forget that any curb on free speech is a double edged sword. The Social Justice Warriors have never framed this as a free speech issue, they frame it as a bullying, harassment and "won't somebody please think of the children" issue. They do this deliberately to sucker people in. Just because somebody starts thinking about this and coming up with dumb solutions, doesn't mean they are conspiring with George Soros and the corporate elite.

Yes, let's be honest, the vast majority of people aren't Machiavellian geniuses, they're average, they respond to social cues rather than planning them. Also I don't even think that most of the "corporate elite" deliberately plan anti-bullying devices as a way to screw with online free speech. It's more of a cultural zeitgeist: the idea that people are stupid and need to saved from themselves, mixed in with the Ivory Tower mentality of many politicians and/or political analysts and with a very generous dose of sincere commitment to the project of an Utopian future where feelings are protected from harm.VickyCaramel wrote:They could have been valid question. There are scammers and profiteers but even they are likely to at least believe in some of the things they say (I'm pretty sure that Anita Sarkeesian sincerely sees herself as a victim and wants to bring forth the Intersectional Feminist Utopia).
Ultimately it comes down to the authoritarian belief that humanity needs to be saved from its worst impulses by all means necessary, which is very widespread among rich, successful, or simply highly educated people. Think about Ana Kasparian's genuine opinion that she's "better than you", or about Hillary Clinton's entitlement issues. I'm pretty sure even George Soros sees himself as a philanthropic millionaire who promotes freedom, democracy and good governance, and thinks of the advantages that he and his cronies get as a bonus, maybe even as something he's earned and deserves.
Even among the SocJus fans who knowingly lie and manipulate, any lie or manipulation is a tool for the Greater Good, as a way to bypass a roadblock in the fight against Evil, as something which is needed and justified since they're on the Right Side of History. Hypocritical behavior is glossed over, pushed back into the subconscious, justified in various ways.
The same is true for all faiths: even the Saudi princes who drink and party with dozens of women but finance Salafi groups on the side don't laugh at how stupid the cannon fodder is, they see themselves as "sinners" and support the reactionary religious groups as a way to deal with their conscience. They still genuinely think that as muslims they're better than the kaffir, and as True Muslims they're better than the Fake Ones (which, for the Saudis, usually means the Iranians).
The idea of an "Old Man in the Mountain" who secretly plots and twirls his mustaches while cackling maniacally about how the Sheeple will never figure out what he has in store for them is pretty cartoonish.
Re: In 2017 Idiocracy is a Documentary
I think Snidely Whiplash, Boris Badenov or even Professor Fate (Jack Lemon in 'The Great Race') are better fits for the trope of evil villain throwing people out of their houses and tying women to railway tracks (can't think who in the silents who best characterised this though).
The 'Old Man in the Mountain' is more about manipulating and killing people.
Machiavelli probably gets too much of a bad rap in regards to this sort of thing too.

Yeah. Many SJWs & fellow-travelers sure do seem to have a set of misplaced priorities. Somewhat apropos of which ... ;-)BarnOwl wrote:Apparently there's a large structure fire at the shopping center up the road, with 33 units at the scene. And - some more people in that crowd have clearly disappeared up their fundaments:

But some interesting push-back on the "trans women are women" front, warming the cockles of me heart:
I see that the author of that piece - one "GallusMag" who I assume is of the female persuasion - had a twitter account but clicking on the Twitter link in the article gives "Account suspended"; expect some of the thugs among the transactivist crowd have gone crying to Twitter, and had her banned. Sad state of affairs, though maybe the tide is turning.GenderTrender
There is only one protected class of women and it is… men
Trans women are women. Say that over and over. And over.
What is a woman? A woman is anyone who identifies as a woman. What are they identifying “as”? That is different for each person. Woman is defined in a unique way by every self-identified woman, as long as those definitions do not include the reproductive biology of sexual dimorphism, which is a social construct. Women are not female, because some people classified as female are men, who are male.
But Trans women are female and Trans men are male. Because women are female, and men are male. Female and male are not biological categories denoting reproductive specificity because there are no such stable categories. .... Also categorizing people based on sex is salacious and untoward because you’re referring to their genitals. Which you shouldn’t do. How rude! What is wrong with you? Female and male have a unique meaning for everyone who identifies as such, one that is unrelated to lowly and salacious mammalian sexual categories, which don’t exist outside our wrongful attempt to create them. There are no does and bucks. Only deer. Some with front holes, others with rape sticks. ....

Taner Edis is a name I'd not heard for a while. He always struck me as being a reasonable voice - and more than that having something interesting to say.
Wikipedia says that he was born in Turkey to Turkish and American parents. So those that don't dismiss him for being Turkish can dismiss him for being American instead.

Edis has given several lectures about Islamic creationism, one of his premises is that creationism in the United States is quite mild compared to Islamic countries. In Turkey for example, despite being known as a secular country, it has high levels of belief in a young Earth. This is because the textbooks and curriculum in the schools do not offer both evolution and creationism, but only creationism. Teaching evolution is not part of the syllabus as all.

If you're interested here's a 2007 Center for Inquiry conversation between Taner Edis and DJ Grothe on the subject of science, secularism and islam.
It's also interesting to hear that in their commercials the Center for Inquiry was proud to define itself as "Politically Incorrect" and took time to highlight how its views were "infuriating" to lots of people. Weird how today the focus has changed towards "inclusion" and avoiding triggering.

Re: In 2017 Idiocracy is a Documentary
I have to say that what Edis says in the interview about a very small chance of secularization in islamic countries is even more true today. He also makes the very good points that fundamentalism is much more common among engineers and applied sciences than about theoretical scientists and that muslim creationism is more common in countries which have more contact with the "west", like Turkey, because culturally isolated countries, like Saudi Arabia, don't need it, since there is little to no scientific knowledge in those countries at all.Kirbmarc wrote:If you're interested here's a 2007 Center for Inquiry conversation between Taner Edis and DJ Grothe on the subject of science, secularism and islam.

Today Edis would likely be called an islamophobe in certain sectors of the left simply for saying the truth.

I mentioned a short while ago that Dalhousie University found itself in the awkward position of having a muslim female student who had expressed openly anti-white racist sentiments on Facebook. Having clearly contravened the student code of conduct, and having refused an informal/restorative resolution, she was going to have to face a disciplinary tribunal. I predicted the university would bend over backwards to get her off the hook. Surprise, surprise! They have.

Dalhousie drops disciplinary hearing over student’s Facebook post
Concern over hateful and violent social-media messages Ms. Khan was receiving, as well as a growing sense that a disciplinary process would not lead to respectful and constructive campus dialogue, prompted the decision, said Arig al Shaibah, the vice-provost of student affairs.
