Is revealing your RL name on a public messageboard enough to consider it public knowledge?
There are lots of nuances to this that depend on defining what the words mean in the first place.
(and unfortunately doxxing doesn't seem to be in the dictionary!)
There's never going to be a neat, agreed, definition of something that involves an element of ethical judgement. People will make that judgement based on all kinds of different grounds, according to their own agendas, so exactly the same behaviour will be OK to some and "bad" (doxxing) to others, and there is no Court to appeal to for a ruling on any given case, other than that of public (internet) opinion. Which is not exactly known for its consistency or its considered, thought out, well-informed, judgements on, well, anything really.

As ever, what is "ethical" is down to us individually, perhaps informed by what we believe others think, and what we can live with in ourselves. E.g. I have never doxxed anyone AFAIK, but I'm happy to comment on the size of Rebecca "Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers" Watson's huge tuchis, so should I be forced to become just plain "Cowherd" for that? I mean, I use my real name in other places (including the internet) but I'd never use it here because I don't want to be forever associated with all you arseholes*. Surely that would be cruel and unusual punishment.

*Though I mean that in the nicest possible way.
Just meet the standards you demand of others. Or at least honestly try to. That's all I ask.

I think it's like expecting humor out of the Soviet Union. When you're grim, repressed, and obsessive, you'll see crimes where others see absurdities. That stupid Intent is Not Magic incantation they love explains a lot about their attitudes -- they're waiting on the millions of backlogged apologies the world owes them.
I think that's an unfair comparison to the Soviet Union.
Quite a bit of dark humor circulated among the masses in the USSR, usually focussed on the day-to-day absurdities of trying to deal with an unworkable system.
Soviet citizens developed a habit of joining any long line they saw on the assumption there must be something to buy at the end of it. One guy finally gets to the end of the line and asks for a loaf of bread. The woman behind the empty counter says; "This is a butcher's shop. This is where we don't have any meat. The baker's shop is over there. That's where they don't have any bread".
Loses a little in the translation perhaps, but it contains a level of self-awareness not found in Baboon-ism.

Nope. Not with a baboon like Ron Lindsay in charge. He's either completely complicit or, now that he's realised that he's allowed vipers into his nest, he's too terrified to make a move.
He's a corporate lawyer. It's my guess that he doesn't give a shit about the cause's authenticity, only it's image and ability to take/make money from the atheists. Some so-called charities are when a person and their friends take on the directorship and other upper eschalon roles at a high salary. Then, with some of the leftover donated money and volunteer labour living on profuse thanking, to actual secular causes (eg: stopping theocratic laws). I would really like to see a comparison chart of all the registered AND unregistered *cough! amy! watson! cough!* atheist/secularist organizations, showing how much money went to salaries (and a breakdown of that), how much to other overhead, and finally how much of their intake money went to actual activism (eg: cost of bus ads, lobbying, or suing to change laws, etc).

And I don't consider convention holidays given to women (only!) to be actual activism. However, using donated money for child care at conventions in order to assist access to parental caregivers (usually but not exclusively women), IS an actual act of activism, improving access to what conventions were meant to be (before the feminist infection), a place of learning and socializing for atheists/humanists/skeptics/secularists/etc.

True, and the sheer amount of room told on the Wermacht (even psychologically), but space with no weapons/munitions factories in it isn't much use.
The fundamental battleplan of the Wehrmacht absolutely relied on the red armys total collapse and capitulation, much as happened in western europe. They considered the Russians sub human and incapable of any kind of concerted resistance. They were wrong.
Not really. The Red Army was an almost total shambles by late '41. It was the weather and the Wermacht's lack of preparedness that saved them that year.
In order to come up with a Wehrmacht win, you have to assume first that Stalin would continue being a dick and not at some people realize he was out of his depth (which seems unlikely given what we know about his panic at Moscow) and that the Red Army would fail to learn from their strategic blunders - which history shows was not the case.
I don't think Stalin ever stopped being a dick. The only good decision he made in WWII was to not shoot Zhukov! I'd love it to get hold of a good wargame of it all. I reckon I could pull off a Wermacht win. Mind you, I thought that about playing the Confederacy at Gettysburg!

Are those links primarily to your own work, your own blog, your own sites? I believe that's considered a no no, and what got The Atlantic kicked off reddit for several months. You can check the faq, but I believe you need to have a very healthy mix of other sites, plus your own links.

He came very close to shoot him a few years later and banished him to the countryside instead, but the stage had already been set for a death sentence. I've recently seen a quite dramatic reconstruction of the trial behind closed doors - comrade Stalin presiding.

They range from $80 to $500, depending on several factors such as weight rating, wheel size, braking mechanisms, seating and storage options, etc. This particular model ranges from $185 - $225. Weight rating 300 lbs (US) and 7.5 inch wheels, etc.

As a noobie, I admit, I believed the rumours. I didn't know a single thing about the split, all I knew is that there were apparently 'pervs' on the slymepit who had some sort of weird vendetta against Ophelia. In fact, FTB tries really hard to portray the 'pit as being the same as that reddit guy who posted violent misogynistic upskirt pics of 12 year old girls, and other stuff. A nest of rapists indeed.

What made the entire thing so fishy, however, is the labeling of Dawkins, Abbie Smith, thunderfoot, and various other well known names as rapists. I remember thinking this during the Elevatorgate threads at Pharyngula. Why were people responding to "mansplaining" or "privilege" or similar arguments as if they were valid? First it is obviously an ad hom: an argument is being dismissed because the speaker belongs to a particular group, not because of any flaw in the original argument. But second, it reveals that the person who is making the accusation of "mansplaining" is also a *bigot*. Unfair discrimination or prejudice on the basis of sex is sexism. Sexism is just one kind of bigotry, and sexists are just one kind of bigot. They are bigots.

So when someone is being accused of "mansplaining" or "privilege" why don't they respond with, "That's an ad hom, and you're a bigot. Address my argument please or I will ignore you."? I think the reason they don't respond that way is because most people don't feel too privileged, they worked hard to be where they are in life (at least from their own view). Being accused of privilege is an opportunity to share that story and try to win people over. It doesn't work though, because it was a trick from the beginning, the bigot doesn't care. That's my theory anyway, and I'm assuming that it isn't just that people who did respond that way were immediately deleted before I could see them.

As far as I'm concerned, A+ just jumped the shark with this one. How they can say stuff like this in light of videos like this one: ( is beyond me. Damn that evil society, requiring people to keep their teeth clean. Sensory processing issues most definitely are inherently disabling.

TheAmazingAtheist (TAA) has so far during this neo-anti-feminism drama kept his hat out of the ring (to my knowledge). But lordy-lord-lord was he ahead of his time back in 2010 when he made this:

Please, TJ, make some more?

No he hasn't. That's a nice little tell. He's probably not looked too closely at what's going on and is getting fed his opinions from his favored side (*cough* Ophelia *cough).
I CAN tell him/her how many times I've seen “Rebitchka Twatson” online in anti-FTB circles.
Exactly ZERO.

Here's Google take on the matter (Note the suggestion, I guess Google is also controlled by the evil patriarchy):

When people accuse me of privilege, I bring out all my "oppressed" cards. They usually act from the assumption than I'm a white male. Funnily enough, they cannot believe that a person with all my so-called oppressions have a dissimilar opinions...which go to show how open minded and progressive they are. Cause all us colored people think the same way...

Shit - I'm laughing my ass off now. That was just fucking priceless!
Im just wondering if he did that on purpose, for the laughs, or is truly that stupid?
That reminds me of the time I was building a power supply from an old television transformer and touched the exposed 240 volt lines. They told me I screamed, but I don't remember.

I wouldn't worry, you have jen mcreight to speak on your behalf.
I imagine that takes an enormous, underprivileged, weight off you shoulders.

This deserves re-posting. Accusations of "privilege" are and always have been a convenient silencing tactic, nothing more.

Unfortunately, I have found that this does not work. Using 'check your privilege' is another way of asking 'when did you stop beating your wife'. No matter what your answer, you are screwed. It puts one in a defensive position, having to explain why your views should even be listened to. It just gives them more fuel for the fire. Not to mention it is also a blatant derailing of a conversation.

Has anyone else pictured Grifter Christina get the "Bush at Iraqi press conference" treatment next time she steps up to a podium?
I'm imagining the look in her beady little eyes as a cloud of flying Fluevogs comes streaking towards her out of the audience.

People leap to Melody's defense when I make a remark about how much weight she gained, just to piss her off for being creepy, but no one gives a rat's ass if anyone makes a joke about Matt Dillahunty looking like a manatee stuffed with bean bag chairs.

OMFG sexism!

My wife and three kids were killed in a car accident. Wiped out by a distracted driver as quick as you can snap your fingers.

Then my boyfriend and his mother were killed in another car accident, again, when a driver was bending down to change radio stations.

A few weeks ago, my three dogs were killed when a driver fell asleep and drove through an intersection.

SO IT TRIGGERS ME WHEN THAT JACKOFF DILLAHUNT MAKES VIDEOS WHEN HE DRIVES!

In other news, my driver's license was suspended by fascist government assholes.

I'm contemplating setting up something for the atheist/skeptic community to donate to (stop laughing for a moment) that will go to either Smile Train or Operation Smile. There are very few organizations (outside of things that help my local community and those in dire need within my community) that I actively give money to and put the word out.

Just something I'm throwing around in my head due to ShoeGate.

Because when men talk to other men this way (which is all the fucking time), it's accepted as ribbing, all in good fun, or just "straight talk."

But, when men talk to women the exact same way, all of a sudden they become magical creatures with this elaborate hit point system. When you commented on Melody's weight, you literally took 20 hit points off of her. You monster!

Well, that's what they'd like you to believe, anyway. Truth is, people like Melody *gain* hit points when people are mean to her.

Theyre all a few years old. More than enough time to become a born-again feminist super hero.
It wasn't a few years ago Ed referred to Renee as a git. Some hero. I mention it in the blog. But that's just for for the people who read it...

I just came from the gym, 26 minutes late, in fact.

A couple years ago we had a woman complain about how "hostile" we guys were to each other, when we were just doing the guy ribbing thing.

I can see how, in the absence of that social dynamic, someone may possibly grow up to be thin-skinned and under the mistaken impression that criticism is harassment.

And, not coincidentally, grow a big fat ass.

Presuming Greta Gissafiva is like a normal person, and does not need special shoes to write in, I'm wondering why she should say that nice shoes are important for her work, considering the other side of her job mostly involves her standing behind a podium.

Also, I'm looking forward to a blog post from Ed waxing lyrical about a huge pile of pies he recently bought.

Checking out the reddit. I'm glad someone is posting links to the youtubes that we find on here because I often skip them so I can catch up on the thread and end up not getting back to them. Subsrcibed, and upvotes for all!

You REALLY pissed them off this time

Stephanie, Ophelia and Greta have a post about it (funnily enough, none of the male bloggers has one, could it be that shoes are a girl thing?)
and the OPs and posts are, if possible, even angrier than usual.

I'm going to save this comment for the next time someone talks about how the anti-FTB side insults and harasses women, and the FTB side are all respectful and female-supportive

Banned from Reddit? I've known plenty who've been banned from subreddits, but you're the first I've heard of getting banned from the whole site.

I think that's an AngloWorld thing. In PuertoRicoLand, both males and females make comments about your body weight and we don't roll into fetal position about the comments. People here (specially females) get all worked up because someone told them the obvious.

Eh, nah. it depends on the context doesn't it? If two people are friends and do that, they do that. Mykeru is no friend of Matt's... so they just don't care about matt. Don't some of them not like him anyway?
