Okay, look. No one here shall chat at any place that they don't already chat on. Sometimes, chats are a forumtoforum thing. I get it. Can we please stop going on and on about a simple suggestion? It's not like I ever said people who didn't want to chat should be forced to, anyway.

That honestly sounds like the gist of it. They seem dead set on going scorched earth for the landscape of reasonable thought, and all they're doing is digging out the foundation from beneath us in order to build their tower of self-importance.

Excellent point on the GOP thing. I miss the republicans. Right now you've got fanatics that have gutted the party and are wearing it's skin like a cheap suit... hoping no one will notice. And of course, that's what we've got going on here too with a different banner to yell under.

The question is, which will break first? Will Pope PZ rule supreme when those who seek theocracy fall down, or will it be the other way around? Because if the GOP and related organizations influenced by religion still have any traction, well.. PZ et al will take down a lot of people with them. That's not including those caught in between ignoring whoever is left as a result of that fall. We'll be steamrolled.

I've made it clear that I am a young female in one of the posts you hate so much, just saying. There's just a lot to reply to here. And no one was yelling at you, that is being dramatic. It only addressed one person, really (one who wishes to create such a place...) Does it matter how many days the posts span over? What matters is if they're all in one chunk on a page one after the next. For it to be a bother, you'd have to be going to my profile and digging into all the posts at once. I don't dominate the forum or anything.

No, no one thought you were trying to stalk them (gawd! you DO fit in with the A+ crowd), just yelling at us to change our setup.
Scented Nectar, did you know that no amount of times you accuse me of yelling at you to change your setup (the fuck?) makes it true? For some reason, the suggestion of a chat is still getting your panties in a twist, despite the fact that people here already chat, even (something I didn't know).
And no, I never said nor implied that people here thought I was attempting to stalk anyone, however, like I said, I've gotten that reaction before. A very good video, a lot better than his initial videos that got him kicked off FTB.

The only thing I'm slightly disappointed in is him not using the "the four horsemen are white supremacists!" snippet from Hutchinson. I think that fuckup more than any other example is capable of convincing most of the people, who currently aren't aware/care about of the rot in the community spreading from FTB, that something is seriously wrong with this ideology.

Well, let me go on record as saying that I discovered and loved Tf00t for the way he was tearing apart the stupidity of the "creation science" folks. The actual science videos were just icing. Since he's basically flogged them to the point that there's nothing left to cover, seeing him go after the same kind of hypocrisy-for-personal-gain scheme in the skeptic community make sense.

He just has a delightful way of tearing the issue down to its core elements.

Now, that whole dewoo films or whatever the hell he was called (don't care enough to get his name right), well.. Tf00t did get a bit unhinged during that mess. Glad to see he's reined it in.

Another thing. Esteleth's point reminds me of that Space Moose comic, with a character saying "your rights end where my feelings begin." Essentially, they object to people who want to ridicule or satirize radfem dogma and don't think people should have that right because it "hurts feelings." Not only does this attitude confirm Paula Kirby's observations regarding "totalitarian thought" in FTB circles, but it's extremely hypocritical. The huge amount of vitriol and invective coming out of their camp is intended to "hurt feelings" after all. PZ has has heaped enormous amounts of ridicule and mockery towards Roman Catholic and other religious viewpoints and they don't give a damn if they hurt feelings.

There was a case at a UK university where student authorities sought to silence atheist groups from ridiculing Islamic beliefs. I can easily see how an Islamic PC advocate can make the same argument as Esteleth, word for word, to silence or ban comics like "Jesus and Mo" in the public sphere. It seems to, based on their actions, that the FTB/A+ camp isn't saying "your rights end where my feelings begin" but is actually saying "your rights end where MY feelings begin -- not yours, MINE!"

At the risk of going all Steersman on you, when you title the video "An Atheist Cult: Those Radicals From Freethought Blogs, Atheism Plus, Etc. " and make statements like you did at 1:21 to 1:25, 2:57 to 3:00, and between 5:15 to 6:53, you have to expect that they may not be able to discern the subtlety "they are acting like a cult" and "they are a cult."

It is not that I don't agree with you. I do. But, I think you are expecting a little too much from them to grasp the difference.
That is a logical and reasoned assumption

For what it's worth I like the old bugger. Sure, he may argue that water is in fact dry but meh.... Sometimes he actually makes you rethink a position.
Seconded
Do you also imagine him with a grey Gandalf beard and and eartrumpet, sat hunched in a rocking chair on a porch with a tartan blanket on his lap and constantly sucking on hard boiled toffees?

Re: Thunderf00t's video.

At the very end he calls for people to download and/or mirror the video, given the usual silencing tactics that are likely to be employed by FTB and Skepchick. I tried to download it but for some reason my video downloading program is crapping out. If anyone else can do it, please have at it. *shines ScentedNectarSignal on backdrop of clouds*

Perhaps you need to be informed of the reason for the Slymepit before you make incorrect assumptions as to its purpose and style.

The Slymepit is, essentially, the bastard child of PZ Myers and Greg Laden.
These two individuals single arseholedly managed to bring together a disparate band of opponents of demagoguery and sycophancy to create the only force in skepticism with the power to withstand the unholy malevolent shitbaggery that the FTB-Skepchick axis of idiocy has unleashed on the world.
And what is the power we slymepitters possess?
It is the ability to laugh at the pure distilled hypocrisy of our opponents.
It is our collecting examples of Myers telling sexist jokes while lecturing women how to be proper feminists, of wringing his hands at opponents who do not accept the idea of the patriarchy conspiracy and rape culture - all the while having a longstanding policy to threaten uncooperative commenters on his forum with being raped with a dead porcupine.
It is exposing the sham of feminist Stephanie Zvan's defending Greg Laden for calling a female commenter a "bitch" and telling another to "get off the rag and kiss my ass".
It is the exposure of Ophelia Benson lying through her teeth to defend the despicable actions of her friends and condemning others as mysogynists for using the same words her friends do and in the same context.
It is the fact that we are skeptics who allow every viewpoint to be exposed here and for not banning people for simply reading the 'wrong' forum.
But the most important thing to recognize about this forum is that we are not, like PZ Myers and Rebecca Watson, doing this for the money.
We are doing it for the LOLs.
For whatever divergent views we may hold about the disgusting hijacking of US skepticism that Myers and Watson have managed over the past few years, we are united in the opinion that the sheer hypocrisy of their actions compared to their high minded words is, well, fucking funny.
So, join in with us.
We appreciate people bringing some new tantalizing course of Ophelia or Surly Amy freaking out at theirs shadows, all the while figuring out how to win sycophants and influence conference organizers.
Go search Ladens or Svans old posts from the pre-elevatorgate days when they were being targeted by the online feminist hit squad of that time (the brain of which was, believe it or not, fucken Physioproffe!)
Theres lots of juicy morsels awaiting discovery.
Don't come here whining about the forum now.
We are interested in the LOLs.
Bring them and you will be considered one of us.
...my bitches.

That is all.

Thank you, Thunderfoot!
Now forward to 7:00.
WTF is it with those glasses? Whenever I see someone wearing those things they function like the lurid coloring of some creature that's trying to announce that it's poisonous (which, come to think of it, is pretty much exactly what is going on with the glasses).

Sorry, but the video is equal parts brilliant and soul-crushing. I'll try and stop now.

My thoughts towards Steers are well documented. LOL. I can tolerate him, though.

A good comment from TF00t's vid:
The right to free speech ends when someone is offended? Ha! HAHA! HAHAHAHAHA! Can you imagine where the atheist movement would be if that was the case? Fuck my life!

These people are a fucking disgrace! I wish Hitches was still around just for the possibility that he would SHIT ALL OVER THEM.
