Pro-tip for cat in heat:
Grab neck skin, hold firmly, massage area between tail and anus, wait for meowgasm.
Should buy you 30 minutes/1 hour rest.

PZ has labeled everyone here in the pit as MRAs or misogynists. He claims this forum is a "rebecca watson hate site" If that doesn't indicate a pattern of claiming even the slightest statement as misogyny then what would? He really has done that. Anyone who thinks it is unrealistic to assume PZ would not tear into another person who had behaved the way he did on stage is not paying attention. I don't think it's unreasonable to make this assumption based on PZ's actions/behavior. You may disagree but humor me and tell me what you think he would say if it was someone else in his place say franc, justin vacula, or mykeru.

Let me also remind you of what PZ stated just over a year before accusing us all of being like Marc Lepine -
The problem, as we’ve seen in online behavior by the self-centered pigs, is that there’s no shortage of men (and women!) willing to form a support group for misogyny and rape culture.
He called that post "Predators among us". Myers is as predictable as a tickle me Elmo doll.

Ridiculing someones argument, tearing apart their irrational logic, etc. without resorting to demeaning personal attacks is not trolling and is completely legitimate.
I think that Jack is stating the Gen Y philosophical position known as

That being said, I have no time for those who want to piss people off for the sake of pissing them off. So I agree with you on that.
Eh. I guess I can agree with your assessment on my attitude about trolling without needing to do much kicking and screaming.

Another couple of thoughts on PZ's video at the conference...
1. The one adjective that would best describe him in this performance is "creepy". Didn't that become reason for banning from conferences back when they were dissing monopod guy?
2. Fantasy time... I'm having an inordinately fun time imagining how this whole scene would have played out if he'd unknowingly called sacha up to the stage and she went.

Well, there's a simple explanation for P.Z. Meyer's modus operanti with is encapsulated by the term-of-art "making shit up". Part of this is that all information he gets nowadays is through the communual reinforced echo chamber he exists in and maintains by blocking, banning and otherwise sticking his fingers in his ears when he hears anything he doesn't like. The whole Atheism Plus working model is built around massive multiplayer confirmation bias.
But mostly, he needs enemies, even if he has to invent them, put words in existing people's mouths or allude to various outrages without ever actually linking to them. Anyone who P.Z. Meyers thinks might disagree with him (which isn't the same as actual concrete points of disagreement) is the other.
Thing is, there's something seriously wrong with Meyers. Even someone who believed twice the erroneous crap he does would realize that running a little internet fiefdom filled with 20-something twits and ruling it like the Squire of Gothos on a sugar high isn't going to do much for his social standing with professional adults in academia. One can just imagine what his colleagues are saying when he isn't in the lunchroom.
I mean, P.Z. And Opie Benson and the like love to go on and on about how hateful and rage-filled their critics are, but we really aren't. Maybe a year ago when there might have been hope of getting through to these people there might have been some "frustrated with the willfully dense" conversations, sort of like we would have with Damien if we still took him seriously. At this point though, it's all mockery. The only way anyone would actually hate or be rage-filled with Meyers and the bunch would be by taking them seriously, which no one does. THe only anger that creeps in is when those who know the least about everything that has transpired don't know enough to know no one takes them seriously, such as the editors of Slate. Although, they are probably just cynical rather than clueless.
Point is, all the "porcupine up your ass" rage has come from that camp. Especially from P.Z. Meyers. I can't say I have a clue about P.Z. Meyer's motives and whether his plumbing isn't working and he has to make his wife stand on her head and drop it in, whether some sort of sense of personal or professional failure drives him, or whether he needs more Loc-Tite on his mental screws, but doing what P.Z. does apparently fills a deep need to lash out, slap down, bludgeon people and just throw his anger and contempt around. A normal human being, and apparently one with as little time on his hands as P.Z. claims, wouldn't lovingly maintain his dungeon and lie so gleefully about people who don't live on his shrinking ground and especially about MRA. In fact, as has been pointed out, his painting MRAs as every stereotype of the reactionary woman-hating Morlock male, and almost entirely without reason, is protesting way too much. He absolutely never links to the vile sort of misogyny he claims is coming from the MRA camp and, when he does, he points to some bottom-feeding comment that, for all we know, he wrote himself...hmmn.
That P.Z. Meyer's thinking has become so insular, endlessly sniping at enemies with no real external referent demonstrates not only someone just going bat-shit nuts, but doing it while arguing with his own personal demons.
In short, Meyers is a sick fuck. No one takes him seriously, and now that he has thrown it all away to vent, he's not going to get much better because the more his standing falls, they more he will be waging a no-prisoners war of attrition with the imaginary monsters in the closet between his own ears.
Some people wage that internal war under the cover of various forms of externalized hate. P.Z. has managed to do it through the conceit of being a Social Justice Warrior.
Then we wonder in vain what P.Z. Meyers is getting out of all this. The problem is, whatever he is getting out of it is entirely emotive and makes no rational sense.

Nope. Despite my reputation as a rage-vibrating loose cannon that farts in elevators and knocks the softie cone out of the hands of toddlers and is far too licentious to really check hard for typos, I can be selective.

See, this is what red-flags me that a venue isn't a level playing field. If a writer gets pissed at Shermer and rather than linking to Shermer's actual post they link to known delusional bullshit artist P.Z. Meyers, I give not so much as a tiny dry gerbil turd in support of that echo-chamber writer in the form of a comment.
That's also why I don't read FTB and certainly don't ever post a comment there.

Well, he thinks so maybe, but even that isn't rational. As Justicar has pointed out more than once, his readership and overall status has declined precipitously. He would have made more money if he had maintained the reputation of his site and finished his fucking book rather than minister to kiddies and sell shitty Peez-n-Ollie t-shirts
I really doubt there is a enough less-than-lotto money to make an egomaniac like Meyers to make a fool out of himself. Obviously, he hasn't figured out he's a laughingstock yet.

What Laden does is victim blaming par excellence, especially on such a lack of information. What a frothed up batch of shit he is. I bet this horrible little man is now busy jumping up and down on his slightly-too-tiny-for-his-ass office chair, giggling "she had it coming, she had it coming" until the thermos jug he keeps by his desk is so full of piss that it needs its emptying for the day.

I don't ever want to be seen as agreeing with someone like Laden, but I do have an issue with a woman who gives access to her son, with mental health issues, to four firearms/ammunition after she taught him how to shoot. That is a recipe for disaster. I have a son with similar issues and I would never have a gun in my house and if I did, it would be locked up like Fort Knox. I like guns, I'd like to be able to own and fire guns. I gave that up when my son was born. If I hadn't, me or someone I loved would be dead by now. There are places where you can store your guns safely away from a disturbed family member. If you can afford a $1000 rifle, you can afford to lock your guns up at a range. If she needs one gun for protection, get a trigger lock and keep the key/combo secure.

There is a reason why this Laden character was too poisonous even for FTB. He is a creature from the sewers of the internet.

*Despite* this (and I'm not saying I entirely disagree), Greg Laden calling this woman a murderer is just plain asinine. Period.
