You used the misogynistic, woman hating language of Freudian analysis. What, you think all women get uppity because they need a good screw? Bitchez be crazy, yo.

Or is this just your phallocentric male privilege talking? Seriously, can you not see how the notion of penis envy is offensive and degrading to all women? I think you should apologize to every woman on this board for the insensitivity of your comments.

I'd be dead curious to know what she writes like - does anyone know of maybe a short story, or something, which she might have had published?

ERV: The Atom Age will be in OKC on 11/4. They're in the line-up opening for Cobra Skulls (whoever they are) and will be playing at the Conservatory. Would it be too much to ask if you can call over and check times and ticket pricing, please? This is the band that ravenscape's son is in.

We should get some of the Okie atheists up in there!

I would buy her book. I don't care if it makes her rich and famous, Steffy, if (if, LOL) you are reading this write a sci-fi book and I will buy it.

I can see it now.... Planet Vagil!
On the planet Vagil the pure and innocent race of Femmjoys have laboured under the tyrannical yoke of the grotesque slavers known as "Tehmenz".
Yet there is hope in the form of Svandarr. A beautiful, intelligent and only slightly overweight Femmjoy who unites the oppressed race in a war that will shake the galaxy to it's core. All without leaving the comfort of her bedroom.

Hi Steph,

You're right about one thing in your recent article, you weren't by any measure a "leader" in what happened. At the time it looks like your status was even lower than it is now, not even a bottom-feeder. You hadn't really even emerged from the mud. It is nice that you've left the original link in todays article though... I suppose you can count on the FTB commenters to never click on anything.

Here's the link you described then as a "good summary" and now as "positive steps that didn’t target Moss" and some better quotes.

http://theangryblackwoman.wordpress.com ... -moss-did/

======================================================
Angry Black Woman:
You can do some Googling and poke around her LJ to find out more, but if you do so you might miss her [linked]useless apology[/linked]. You won’t miss her threatening to call the police because people have been making threats of violence against her person.
And though I know this is a horrible thing to say, I can’t help but think: How dare she complain about physical threats? You called a 9 year old boy a pussy you depraved sicko! You’re lucky no one knew enough to pop you in the mouth. It’s wrong, yes, but what more can you expect when you talk smack about someone’s child you don’t even know?
I also want people to know what Rachel Moss did and I don’t want them to forget it. I want any Google of her name to bring up this and other posts about this issue. I don’t want to ignore it, I don’t want it to blow over, and I don’t want to moderate my feelings on the subject. What she did was wrong on so many levels.

Blog about this. Blog about why it’s wrong. Ask others to do so. Use her name. (After all, she used other people’s.) Write to her. This post has an email for her at the bottom. No threats of violence, obviously. But she needs to know just how many people know what she did.
======================================================

Great summary there, no doesn't seem like part of campaign of harassment. No violent threats ladies *wink wink, nudge*. Sweetness and light. Anyway, lets take a compare that with what you wrote in 2008.

======================================================

Svan - 2008
Then there’s Rachel Moss, whose motivations for coming to the con (twice) are, well, opaque despite her explanation [linked]Angry Black Woman[/linked] has a good summary of the debacle that started when Rachel Moss decided to post pictures of WisCon on Something Awful with something masquerading as commentary.
======================================================

Well, that looks suspiciously like you were following instructions from ABW and dutifully playing your part. In your own pathetic way attempting to contribute to the campaign to google-bomb Zap. Trying to fuck with her employment opportunities. It looks like that to me Steph.

It came as no surprise to me that you were happy to pick up your little pitchfork back then and join the mob. It fits perfectly that blessed with your own flying monkeys you do the same. I find it hilarious that you cry your crocodile tears when other people point out how despicable you are.

Hmmm. Leagues better than Greg's effort, that's for sure. Not that that's much to be proud of. Not a bad little story, IMO - a tendency, like Greg, to tell rather than show, but not too bad.

Oh, look who's first in the comments to gush praise 'pon her!

I think if Greg Laden likes something you write, it's probably best to start looking to see where the mistakes are...

@Cunt

You know, as far as Steffy's concerned, what Angry Black Woman wrote there were probably just harmless 'ambiguous colloquialisms'.

If you read those excerpts of Laden's "novel" while picturing him bent over a very large 15 year old desktop (that he pulled out of the recycled electronics bin) with Windows 95, a candle in his trailer, typing seriously, imagining himself as Hemingway....it's side-splitting stuff I tell you.

Oh he's just raping Clive Cussler, Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir. That's generic men's adventure prose.

Really, read any of Cussler's "Dirk Pitt" series or the "The Destroyer". They all read like that. Except those three write fun wastes of time, and Laden's a moron.

You're a lot braver than me, whenever I think of Greg Laden or see that picture of him with the lopsided stupid grin, I start remembering the "men are damaged women" and get so angry I have to go do something else to keep my mind occupied.
Tigzy wrote:

That first sentence sounds really odd to me, for some reason I feel that the "it has been.." part should refer to the incidents, not the story. The jump from the first part of the sentence, which focus on the incidents and the second which seems to focus on the story is almost physically painful. I wonder if it sounds like that to a native English speaker too.

That's because he's a shitty writer. Look, Laden's idiocy:
The incidents associated with the story told here are still under investigation but it has been classified as Top Secret by INTERPOL. If you find find yourself in possession of a copy of this manuscript you are required by international law to hand it over to the most readily available federal or national authorities in the country you are in, unless you are in the Congo, in which case you should burn the manuscript immediately.
And now with a quick edit, keeping the 'tone':
The incidents documented within are still under investigation by INTERPOL. They, and this accounting have been classified as Top Secret by both INTERPOL and INTERPOL member nations. Unauthorized persons in possession this manuscript are required by international law to turn it over to appropriate federal or national authorities. If you are in the Congo, dispose of this manuscript immediately.
Could be better, but yeah, editing matters, and there's only so many ways you can polish a turd.

Thanks,

This response of yours was a lot more informative than the tiny article in The Local. It does confirm what I noticed a couple of years ago. I have to admit Norway took me by surprise though. I was (and still am expecting) this sort of thing to happen elsewhere with increasing frequency.

Have to disagree. I know you are deeply hurt.

Saying "Bob is totally my bitch" is of recent usage. The meaning of bitch as "a malicious, unpleasant, selfish person" is the most common usage of the term and is generally directed at women.

The language police are trying to ban that usage as "offensive" because they are offended by there being language to depict that women can be malicious and selfish people. Why not just call them malicious and selfish? Well, we can. Some women are malicious and selfish. Some women are bitches. They do it different and we all know what it means. Just as we get a sense that there's a difference in degree (or the sensitivity of the person using the term) between being an unpleasant person and being an asshole.

But isn't it the same as using "the N-Word"?

No, not even close.

Anyone who claims it is and uses terms like "jerk" is either a dick, a cunt, an asshole or some combination thereof.
Nah, don't hurt my feelings at all. I don't think I commented on when the various definitions came into use, anyhow - except the etymology part. I call people "bitch" all the time, I just don't use it specifically for women, or even as a female-type-style gender slur. And I bitch about shit, all the time.

Some Love From Sasha Wiley-Shaw

From Facebook:
I have really hit the wall on on-line harassment - of girls and young women, of my friends and sister activists, and of myself. I don't take any of it to heart in terms of actually being meaningful, but it reminds me how desperate some people are to bolster patriarchy - as though the idea that women should be seen and not heard is anything but a dying remnant of centuries of sysetmic oppression, and as if the dinosaurs who try to enforce it are anything but barreling toward extinction. Show solidarity by sending someone who is harrassed online a note about why they are so powerful that other people fear them enough to try to silence them.
Thanks, everyone, and while I'm at it - yes - I've seen the newest MRA/Renouf production, and if my desires matter to you, please don't watch it, share it, go to the page its on, link it, etc. Whatever you do, please don't send it to me anymore.
Right, Sasha. You and the Atheism Plus goon squad show up in a herd of more than a dozen people, outfitted with boxcutters and dogpile one guy and, presumably, assault a security guard the previous week, and you're the one harassed.

Sure.

Merlot is the end-all go-to excuse, because it's true. We're on a nice bordeaux (La Rose Gadis) right now, 14.5%, so all is forgoten. Even the spelling of 'forgotten'.)

Rystefn wrote:There was a bit more conversation, but I'm too lazy to cut out and quote all of it.

I am unsurprised to see thinly-veiled threats of the sort "someone might do something terrible to you one day for this." As I said before, I don't generally make a habit of associating with folk who tend to think violence is the solution to all of life's little annoyances. More to the point, I don't let the unjustified rage of others dictate my behavior. I will draw pictures of your prophet, I will deny your holy spirit, I will sleep with people of the same sex and different colors, and I will fuck your girlfriend. I am aware that there are raging idiots out there who are perfectly willing, even eager, to do me violence for those things. I will do them anyway, lest they think that's the appropriate method of getting their way.

Oh, and if you get territorial over your girlfriend, stop being a dick. She's a person, not your fucking property.
What I was trying to point out was that one day you may be surprised. I also tried to point out that some people may react in ways that surprise themselves because they did not know they were going to react that way.

I personally do not have a problem with your behaviour any more than I have a problem with the behaviour of the black bears that live in my area. You just appear to be unaware of where it may lead to.

(Of course, as an aspie I can not claim to understand humans, in fact I find animals much easier to understand. I am only going by my real life observations).

You should not take what I have said as a thinly veiled threat. Just as advise. In my case I stay away from this couple I mentioned earlier because I find his partner too attractive. In the end, based on previous experience, I know that it can get ugly fast, with serious consequences. Quite frankly, I am amazed that more people do not wind up dead over this sort of thing.

Now you have been told. Proceed as you will, knowing that in future you are making an informed decision.

YMMV.

For shits and giggles, I went to the Special Snowflake Society and randomly checked a few forum posts. In almost *every* one, the thread ended up with people infighting and tossing up "fav words/phrases" to belittle and malign. Yeah. I should have just stuck with having another shot instead (What? Regarding the sex conversation, it looks like it's now just pretty much a dialogue, rather than a general free-for-all, so taking it to another thread might be the friendly and respectful thing to do.

So you're saying its ok to partake in an orgy here, but it's not ok to be a group of voyeurs watching the coupling and occasionally being offended or commenting about the position?
