An update on my guy (ignore if you could not give a shit :)) - surgery has been scheduled for January 25th. I really love how they freak us out then we get to wait nearly 2 months before finding out more. Anyway, he's going to have the 3-4 cm lump on the side of his neck removed and looked at immediately for malignancy. I'm not completely certain but I believe based on this, they'll then put a camera down the back of his throat to look at an "anomaly". He's been told he will be in the hospital for 2-3 days and he's already attempting to buck that. I told him I would tell the nurses and doctors on him if he didn't comply. He's not happy about that.

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled mayhem!

It is the fact that we are skeptics who allow every viewpoint to be exposed here and for not banning people for simply reading the 'wrong' forum.
But the most important thing to recognize about this forum is that we are not, like PZ Myers and Rebecca Watson, doing this for the money.

To be fair, while I was in the Army, freaky fucking medical shit was usually taken care of rather quickly. Other people's mileage may have varied. But in all other regards, yeah...shit ton of fucking waiting around, twiddling our thumbs.

4) "blah blah blah contraception" (Poor Puertorican women were guinea pigs for the contraceptive pill, my grandma was one. It is said than Sanger herself chose the location because if a "whole bunch or poor ignorant women could do it, then anybody could do it").

...it really bothers me when fucking special snowflakes like Melody Hensley complain about "sister punishing" or privilege. That fucking bitch is the textbook definition of privilege. A useless, worthless cunt that gets to complain about stupid trivial shit because of her comfy, cushioned life.

In college I was lucky enough to join a extracurricular flight school associated with the college.

The person that ran this flight school was an Olympic swimmer in 1932. During WWII, she joined the WASPS (Women Airforce Service Pilots) where she flew, I believe, more than 25 different kinds of military aircraft, from fighters to bombers, ferrying them from where they were manufactured across the US to Nova Scotia where they would be flown across the Atlantic.

After the war, she won the Powder Puff derby and at some point that helped her become associated with the college I went to, where she started, led, ran, administered this flying program which involved not just scheduling students, but writing the curriculum, managing aircraft, hangar and maintenance, finding instructors (beside herself), and still flying and instructing probably 20 or more hours each week.

Among her students were some of the first women that became commercial airline pilots, as well as a couple of future astronauts (though none of those were women to the best of my knowledge.)

She also voted and strongly supported Ronald Reagan. (Which was when I was in school.)

Ah, Steersman, The beguilingly insufferable Steersman. How to quantify this character? In short - well, he appears to have a compulsion to take the contrary viewpoint to...well, pretty much anything. As a result, he has the rare distinction of being banned at both A Voice for Men and major portions of the FTB sphere. It's clear that more than a few here can't stand him, and have him on permanent ignore. I personally believe that he makes a valuable if unloveable contribution to the Slymepit in at least getting you to check your assumptions...sometimes. Which, if nothing else, does go some way to curtailing the kind of groupthink that pervades FTB like the smell of Ed Brayton's underpants left stranded in an elevator.

Furthermore, Steersman will just go on, and on, and on, with a SIWOTI syndrome as well developed as Mr Darcy's tumescence upon espying the fair form of...erm...fuck, what was her name? The big titted one out of Pride and Prejudice, who's mum played Aunt May in the Raimi Spiderman films. Anyway. Forget about that. It was two sigs before her current one. All caps and bolded, telling us there are too many posts here and that we should open an IRC (to relieve the number of posts, I think she meant.). Next was a rather kooky sig, saying people give her a flight or fight reaction and that NO, she will NOT take beta blockers because it's physical not mental. That was only up for a few minutes. After that came this merchandise one. Not spam though, probably referring to my mentioning to her that she's new. So, no real spam or any other legit bannable offence, but certainly food for me to have an opinion about. Apparently a rather strong one, which I wasn't expecting to have today! :)

What yelling, SN? I see what might be a spammy "New merchandise" but it doesn't appear to be a link, and it's not particularly big. If it actually is a spam link that I'm not seeing due to my browser settings, then Eucliwood, take this as you one and only warning before getting banned for spamming.

It was two sigs before her current one. All caps and bolded, telling us there are too many posts here and that we should open an IRC (to relieve the number of posts, I think she meant.). Next was a rather kooky sig, saying people give her a flight or fight reaction and that NO, she will NOT take beta blockers because it's physical not mental. That was only up for a few minutes. After that came this merchandise one. Not spam though, probably referring to my mentioning to her that she's new. So, no real spam or any other legit bannable offence, but certainly food for me to have an opinion about. Apparently a rather strong one, which I wasn't expecting to have today! :)

Judging from lots of reactions I'm seeing from people it seems to me as thought the FNG is generating a lot of heat and light without getting people engaged on anything serious. I smell crazy troll, or maybe just crazy attention seeking, given some of the stuff I've dipped my toes into.

Definitely don't like the idea of encouraging people away from what everyone here has built up over the last six months with a lot of love and attention.

Eucli, I doubt if you're ever going to accomplish whatever you're after with this. Believe me, I know the drive to try to make yourself understood when people seem to be bound and determined to take shit how they're going to take it, but you're wasting your time. The best way course at this point is likely to drop all conversations and start fresh. Depending on what you're trying to accomplish here, of course.

Historically I rarely follow that particular bit of advice myself, so I can't exactly judge harshly if you stay on it. If you've got thick hide and no allergies, sometimes it's fun to just keep poking the hornet's nest and laughing at impotent rage. Hell, doing it to the FTBastards is one of the more popular passtimes around here.

Scented Nectar, did you know that no amount of times you accuse me of yelling at you to change your setup (the fuck?) makes it true? For some reason, the suggestion of a chat is still getting your panties in a twist, despite the fact that people here already chat, even (something I didn't know).
And no, I never said nor implied that people here thought I was attempting to stalk anyone, however, like I said, I've gotten that reaction before.
