Steerzing in a New Direction...
Re: Steerzing in a New Direction...
Mykeru has re-emerged. He is in a bad way.
Some of you were once his friend, maybe you could help?
"Things have gotten to the point after being terminated on the altar of diversity inconclusivity where I'm looking towards eviction or homelessness or joining the Ukrainian International Legion. I also fully appreciate how terrible my family is."
"I tried to reach out to talk. At first to my family, unfortunately my mother suffers from ad hoc omniscience where she just has to say "I told you so" even if she did no such thing. And when she's questioned on it she starts screaming which brings back memories of all the times when I was a kid that she would threaten to crash the car into a tree.
Actually being in existential crisis, and mine was precipitated by losing my 22-year career on the altar of "diversity and inclusivity", teaches you is how little support there is. You can't even talk to anyone without an agenda. Social services is a joke, Medicaid is a nightmare, and after a point all seems that people do after leaving you to die is to start calling in welfare checks just to poke you with a stick to see if you're still moving."
"I've started filling out my forms for the Ukrainian International Legion, because that's basically the only option I have left to die in a way that isn't absolutely embarrassing."

Re: Steerzing in a New Direction...
Anything is possible. One has to ask why firearms charges were mentioned when the weapons were locked away and unloaded? I don't think any lab results on the supposed drugs found have been made public. The only evidence of molestation is an interview with the child in question with the father present. This sounds like it could be a trumped up case and the prosecutor has been overstating things. Maybe they're as guilty as hell but even then they could get off without physical evidence.John D wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 10:05 amHard to know the truth in the Carrera case. There are a number of things working against her if she goes to trial. She is a porn actress and she had meth in the house. is this really an example of the problems in our system of justice?
Either they are guilty or they are not. Surely it can't take three years for the state to come up with enough evidence to convict. They could have been released with ankle monitors to stop them absconding until the trial. If found innocent, who is going to compensate them for the years spent locked up?
They will have to be found guilty now, so that the three years can be taken into account.
I wouldn't be surprised if her ex-husband is lying about the whole thing... but I wouldn't be shocked if she is guilty. Quite a mess.
It sounds like the prosecutor could be intentionally delaying because it is not a good case. Of all the government jobs, prosecutors could be the most corrupt. There have been many cases here in Michigan where prosecutors go after people who are clearly innocent just to get their name in the news.
Old Story - My wife was an assistant manager at a day care in the 1990s. One day the cops showed up. They were investigating a claim by one of the kid's fathers. He claimed that his wife was taking their daughter to this day care where they were molesting her. It was a bid by him to get custody. They interviewed all the employees. Fortunately, their standard procedure was to always have two workers in the rooms at all times. The cops left without any other visits. Still... really scary shit. Just getting accused of such a thing can ruin you. That was one day that I had respect for the police.

This cause of this is not unknown and is very curable. Overly liberal DA's, activist judges and SocJus policy wankery. Vote for someone else. Could be cleaned up very quickly.Lsuoma wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 9:44 amThere was a partial fix-up after McCarthy and after Nixon, but I'm not certain anything like that could happen now. Re Matt's point on Seattle, he's spot on (fuck that hurts! :-) ). I've lived in the SEA metro area for 20 years, and have seen it decay. Before coof my commute took me along the Blade, if I wanted the shortest route. There was open defecation, drug dealing, drug using, sex, violence there pretty much every day. There was a death by shooting a couple of weeks back and the police didn't even turn up for the 911 call. The McD's there was nicknamed McStabby's.
Now it's spreading N and S along 3rd. Downtown Seattle has failed. Other parts (Laurelhurst, Madison Park, Madison Valley) are VERY chi-chi.

So many places are shitholes now.

Though some places more so than others, often less to do with economics than with "religion". Trump may have had something of a point with his "shithole countries":

More than a bit of justification for banning immigration from Muslim countries, at least restricting it to those willing to piss on the Quran, figuratively or literally:
However, - not to flog a dead horse, belabor a point or anything like that ... - Lsuoma may have something of a point with his "great tailor of the whole cloth". AP and "VAIDS" ring any bells? ... ;-)

I don't have a vote in Seattle (or even King County) - I'm registered in Island County, since that is where I spend at least half - to become >90% on retirement - of my time right now.

It's certainly the City Council that has allowed this to happen, but even with a black, female SPD chief things continued to deteriorate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmen_Best
Admittedly she was only there two years, but she was basically forced out by the city council.
But SPD is as corrupt as fuck too, surprise, surprise!!!

Re: Steerzing in a New Direction...
It's been a few years since his job cracked up, my best guess has been that he has to kill 10 or 20 years till he's 65 and then can start to draw on his 22 years seniority federal pension. Until then, I'd recommend moving here to Po folks Arkansas where beans and cornbread are cheap

You just had to add in that last sentence. Kind of implies that Candace Owens believes that. Do you know of something she's said on the subject that indicates that? Zelenskyy is very entangled with the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, has questions to answer about tens of millions that he tried to hide and has been busy urging his justice dept to prosecute former president Poroshenko. It is possible to believe that Zelenskyy is as corrupt as f**k and that Putin has no justification for invading. The pro-Zelenskyy media hype is reaching advanced levels of ridiculousness. It would seem prudent to any reasonable person to ask some questions about the person/govt you are funneling billions of dollars worth of weapons to and risking nuclear war to support. In the contemporary US environment anything short of black and white thinking aligned with the universal narrative is cause for public crucifixion.free thoughtpolice wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 4:30 pm

Re: Steerzing in a New Direction...
It's been worrying me how little notice is being taken of this looming nightmare. The Democrats and RINOs in the US have been quietly advancing this. Microsoft and other companies have been filing patents for the requisite technology in sync with bills in congress. The dispensing of covid relief and the reliance on electronic transactions during lockdown were used as cover for implementing the infrastructure by govt and major institutions. This is happening and it is frightening when you look at the control it enables and the obvious willingness of the current shower to use authoritarian tools.
I think Amore is being optimistic about alternatives. Cryptos are almost certainly going to be regulated into the ground and cash will be severely restricted or withdrawn. Bartering services is one alternative but it has limited usefulness.

My main reason for posting that is to show how much the alt right want to downplay the outright illegality of Putin. Honestly, do you think Putin is invading Ukraine to stop the corruption of Zelensky and Ukraine oligarchs? Considering the the tragedy that Putin has forced on Ukraine and a lesser extent why are the alt-right types distracting from the real criminal here, and that is Putin?ThreeFlangedJavis wrote: ↑You just had to add in that last sentence. So anyway it's an enjoyable coincidence that this man whose stories I had been hearing for several years and who I met for a single night several years later and passed away just a couple of years ago ago, forever known to me only by the name John D, and you know maybe the sailors and Marines had different jobs and different boats to get across and different shortages and abilities to move certain things certain ways, I don't know, John D is dead. But to hear about flat bottom boats from another person I know only as John D it's fun and interesting. This is also the last person I've known to use the n-word in earnest, also a place where I saw a car load of very rude loud people stop at the pump of a convenience store in a particularly egregious way, and I'm sure these two things have nothing in common.

Re: Steerzing in a New Direction...
That image matches my day.
GF & I are still on the fashion eyewear job. But most of our work is on the computer right now. So when another company called with a few days of work... we decided to double-dip. Today we were in a warehouse in New Jersey. Packing chocolate bars & vegan cookies & fancy candles & shit... into gift boxes going-to #influencers for International Women's Month... festooned with logos from a corporate YouTube channel. While also emailing furniture rental places & photo printers & such/ for the other client. Today's paycheck covers the entire month's rent. heh heh.
At the end of the day-- the youngling who hired us... asked if I could unbox a barber's chair she had ordered... and see how-hard it is to assemble. She ordered 7 of these things. And they're going to be used in
A FUCKIIING CRAZY PROMOTIONAL EVENT where these chairs will be placed in barbershops & men will be offered some sort of ARMPIT 'TREATMENT' performed by.... Fuck... who knows?
And so we conversed about what possible angle could convince men to let some stranger do weird shit to their armpits.
I said howabout a NASCAR tie-in... with a pit crew working on the armpits... like during a race. (I thought this was the dumbest, most-cliched thing an agency would think-up.)
And she said-- "Actually, that's what the agency came up with. They're calling this a 'Pit Stop'." (Look at the ginger armpit in that picture. Glorious.)
I also suggested celebrities the brand could hire--- ones who men would line-up to offer their smelly armpit to:
Colin Kaepernick was my #1 choice.

Well then why didn't you post an example of someone on the "alt right" downplaying the illegality of Putin? If Putin's actions are inherently wrong then why does Zelenskyy need to be portrayed as a saint? Truth matters if you want to make sense of the world and make the best choices. Hysterical propaganda and the enforcement of black and white thinking is dangerous to society. One can understand Ukrainians adopting those methods, but not outsiders. You are conflating people telling possible truths counter to the narrative with conspiracy theorists again.free thoughtpolice wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 11:17 amMy main reason for posting that is to show how much the alt right want to downplay the outright illegality of Putin. "Though all these publications cited Politico’s now-debunked article that claimed the intel officials believed the laptop was Russian propaganda, the intel letter that Politico reported on actually suggested the opposite:
We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement — just that our experience makes us deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case. (emphasis added)
The media’s decision to ignore the letter’s line, “… we do not have evidence of Russian involvement,” is surprising."

...There have only been 5 covid deaths for the 900,000 people on Vancouver Island or approx. 6 per million. We aren't particularly isolated, a fairly large part of people here commute to work off the island and people were frequent travelers before the pandemic.
Also, most of the people live in communities in a fairly average density.
Social distancing, travel restrictions, business shutdowns, and care home shutdowns came early. Also people cooperated with the restrictions.
Because we stopped community spread we were able to to have 0 active cases for a month in late spring/early summer and even reopened some schools for a period before the summer break with no spreading.
We now a handful of cases that have come in from outside but it appears there still is a handle on community spread.
No doubt we have had luck. a fairly good response by public health officials, and it can't have hurt that people have been by and large have followed the rules.

Re: Steerzing in a New Direction...
So yeah my icragenarian active-farmer John D passed away more like 5 years ago, and our mutual friend passed away 2 years ago. I did make the most of my one night visit drawing out stories and seeing pictures, and regret that I lack the memory and historical knowledge to be of much used to you pictures otherwise, but in my mind he took one of these kind of craft John looking at and helped get it across the Pacific as an odd lot, that's my story and I'm sticking to it
Re: Steerzing in a New Direction...
Now, the mutual friend who is now gone for two years is a severe woo-believer of the first order, and the reason I sought to the web for advice on how an unbeliever can cope with a woo monster. This is why I first sought out the JERF circa '07 leading to the decline in rational atheism that has left me with this slimy bowl of doo-doo jokes as all that is left of my erstwhile probly-never-existed peer group of freethinkyng would-be atheists. I limited myself from ever talking about her while in life, but I may try to open up a little about a life rubbing elbows with woo in a big way.
Re: Steerzing in a New Direction...
So addendum, John D not last person I heard using forbidden-to-certain-races word in casual conversation, that would be my old next door neighbor who grew up minority-white in Jackson MO schools. Must be tough to communicate when some of your classmates are allowed to use a different set of language than you are, haha
Re: Steerzing in a New Direction...
Jackson Mississippi I mean. Jackson MO is where Joseph Smith got kicked out of. Related: Does September 11th 1857 ring a bell to anyone?
Re: Steerzing in a New Direction...
Bzzt! That's when a wagon train that originated from right near fuzzy's place got ambushed in southern Utah by Mormons dressed as natives, depending on who you talk to got people to surrender and then just shot them up anyway. One or two dozen children were adopted out to various Mormon families and then when the truth about some of this started coming out years later were sent back this way. Anyway some of fuzzy's dear friends are involved in some of the efforts to preserve the memory of this event which obviously our Mormon friends would like to keep under the rug as St George Utah expands over the site and others would like to make sure it gets preserved in memorial

Re: Steerzing in a New Direction...
So in the '70s fuzzy had exotic gf that went on to do exotic things. fuzzy, once every few years types said exotic-name into goggle, and sees it pop up in some somewhat-exotic domain. Excitedly, fuzzy shares this moment with his current lady friend who often shares details of every last broken toenail of great nieces and such things. Cold shoulder and response of death, because fuzzy is not allowed to have a past. It's just one of the many many women that fuzzy has done the fuzzy with as encapsulated in this response. I am now pouting in my room in punishment for having had the gall to share detail of my past just because someone I knew had their picture in the mass media

Millions of children were very well protected before the vaccine. As Fauci has explained, the stats on kids in hospital, or dying, are "with" covid, not "from" covid. The risk to children dying from, or being significantly harmed by, covid who don't have very serious health issues is so close to zero that, if I was going to spend much time worrying about it, I wouldn't let my children outside for fear of them being brained by random objects falling from the sky.

Young, fit athletes have had their health ruined by covid, and some children (not many so far) develop Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children. No one knows what the long term effects in children will be. As I looked for some data just now, I found this study taking place over the next 3 years.

Why take the risk when you can get your child vaxxed. The chances of an adverse reaction are minimal.
As for the MOGAD case: as I said, I'm no medic, just quoting the tweet. I suspect the vaccine may have triggered the outbreak, but it just needed something to set it off; in this case the vax.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revised its data this week to reduce pediatric deaths from COVID-19 by nearly 24%.
On Tuesday, the agency was reporting on its COVID Data Tracker that 1,755 Americans under age 18 had died from the virus since the pandemic began in spring 2020. Now, it is reporting 1,341 deaths in that category.

The CDC said the number was revised March 15 due to a “coding logic error,” according to a footnote on the agency’s COVID Data Tracker. Pediatric death counts were not the only ones to be lowered — total deaths were reduced by roughly 70,000.
“An adjustment was made to COVID Data Tracker’s mortality data on March 14 involving the removal of 72,277 — including 416 pediatric deaths — deaths previously reported across 26 states because CDC’s algorithm was accidentally counting deaths that were not COVID-19-related,” Jasmine Reed, a spokesperson for the CDC, told the Washington Examiner. “Working with near real-time data in an emergency is critical to guide decision-making, but may also mean we often have incomplete information when data are first reported.”
According to the CDC’s weekly provisional data, only 921 children have died for reasons “involving COVID-19,” an even lower number than the official data tracker now presents. The provisional data reported by the CDC typically lags by some period of time.
Far fewer children have died during the pandemic than any other age group. Children under age five are the only group of Americans still ineligible for vaccination against the virus, but children make up less than 0.1% percent of total COVID-19 deaths, according to CDC data. The mortality rate for minors, even those who are unvaccinated, remains lower than for vaccinated older adults.
The CDC has encountered other issues with data reporting before. The agency was criticized in February after The New York Times reported that a large portion of the data being collected by the agency regarding COVID-19 was not being made available to the public. Earlier this year, Dr. Anthony Fauci admitted that hospitalization data for kids could also be misleading, as many of the children hospitalized with COVID-19 were there for reasons other than the virus.

Back when Star Trek was entertaining. Haha. It was so over the top it was enjoyable. When Scotty talks into the mouse and says "Hello Computer!" and when he says "There be whales here!" Haha.Matt Cavanaugh wrote: ↑

Star Trek IV was very silly, and arguably the most entertaining one of all for that reason. (Weird how clean San Francisco looked back then.)

I was living in Salt Lake City when ST4 came out, and the theater fairly roared with laughter at the line excusing kotra-addled Spock's behavior with "he did too much LDS in the sixties."
