Fuck off, Jamie!
Re: Fuck off, Jamie!
Some of the same twitterati [that I do admire] are telling me we have to remember Kimmel is innocent until proven guilty, and we shouldn't take pleasure in seeing feminists and the legal system crawl up his asshole have also been telling me that it's good Alex Jones has been kicked off twitter, and that Trump is certainly, definitely a Kremlin puppet and not just a rich idiot asshole.
Sigh. Trump's election has fucked us all over in so many ways.
And still, fuck Hillary, she was shit and should never have been Presidette.

Is one of the holes in BeckyBooze's wetsuit a hole directly in front of her front hole? Cuz in that case, the entire San Francisco Bay ecosystem is at risk and fucking EPA should pay for a new wetsuit.

I used to think that Watson could take a break and rethink her life choices, so she could achieve something useful in the world.
But there seems to be a narcissistic core to her personality - and despite the lack of attention she has received in recent years - nothing has changed.
Ah well. May she receive the relevance she deserves.

Australian female politicians are a tough bunch.
One Liberal MP has reportedly told the Australian Financial Review that the Whip’s office has received four complaints from female MPs saying they felt intimidated when asked to sign the petition, which they refused to do.

Carrier has set a trap!
Although one problem is that if you set a trap, it isn't really a good idea to announce to the person you hope to trap that you've set a trap. (Because now you can be sure that when Heina Dadabhoy's lawyer is deposing him, one question to him will be "What evidence do you have to support your claim that my client conspired with Amy and Lauren to defame you?")Dr Richard Carrier, Ph.D., peer-reviewed author and brilliant legal strategist wrote: "But I believe Dadabhoy is acting with deliberate malice. She may have lied to the other Defendants about our interactions—and my interactions with others. Her involvement might be even more sinister. I have so far reserved for future use in court evidence I have that Dadabhoy might have coordinated defaming me with Amy Frank and Lauren Lane. I am awaiting the opportunity to catch her in perjury before I reveal it."

I've seen this all over the place today, and while I have no clue as to what is happening in South Africa, I am not sure this is the best argument to ignore it.An average of 52 people die in SA every day due to violent crime that's just over 19000 people a year. Farm murders stand at 1.8 a week.
Very few planes crash, so let's focus on breast cancer, there is little to be gained by spending time on airplane safety.
Very few Americans had lead in their pipes, so it's okay to ignore Detroit.
In 2017, just 17 unarmed black men were killed by police, so we really need to focus on murders in general.
Re: Fuck off, Jamie!
I’ve just been watching the Drum. I find it incredibly ironic for the ABC to go along with the idea that NewsCorp and Sky News were bullying MPs to switch away from Turnbull. This is the same (publicly funded) station continuously broadcasting the most incredulous people they could find in Dutton’s seat. What a joke. Privatise the ABC. (And I don’t even think Dutton would be good for Australia, let alone the LNP).

Don't you think that the depths of hyperbole that lead to the statement"Paris is a shithole" simply make the 'message' here less likely to be heard?
Despite their problems, Paris and London are huge tourist destinations where people go for fun all the time- most are not going to by that 'London has fallen' whatsoever if they have any proximity to the UK they will know that it hasn't.
Genuinely wonder why this kind of highly polarised approach (i.e. where the leading story is ridiculously OTT) seems so popular with a certain crease in the spectrum. Wouldn't you rather just present factual evidence for a problem without PJW heights of over-amped rhetoric?

This will induce affluent white americans to rant in public that affluent white south africans deserve to be dispossessed, raped & murdered.
What with the hysteria over illegal immigrants babies in dog kennels, the Dems are bound to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory this coming November. Another Evergreen or Melissa Click college campus melt-down -- or better yet, another negro career criminal shot while resisting arrest -- would seal the deal.

This sounds much like what happened to New York in the 1980s. The city had become a literal shithole. But... people still visited and vacationed there. Some people even enjoyed the danger, drugs, crime. Some people said that the streets full of porn theaters was just part of the New York experience.DrokkIt wrote: ↑Don't you think that the depths of hyperbole that lead to the statement"Paris is a shithole" simply make the 'message' here less likely to be heard?

For me, I went to NYC in 1981 , hated it, nearly got mugged in broad daylight and concluded I wouldn't go back. But, they started to clean things up. Crime went down. Porn theaters closed. Proactive policing meant that you wouldn't be menaced on the train platform by thugs. So, my wife and I have returned. When we go we spend a butt-load of money because it's not cheap. But.... I wouldn't go if it was the NYC from the 80s.
I am sure there are still lots of people who love Paris, but I think they are going to have to turn their problems around. The people who live there are not going to tolerate this for long. Just my 2c.
and... regarding South Africa. Just stating the statistics that there are still only a few farm murders misses the point. Like many violent countries, SA farmers used to feel safe because most crime was urban and gang related. This is why people still live in the Chicago and Detroit area. It is because we know most of the violence is gang related. We feel like it is statistically unlikely to hit our suburban homes. But, farmers in SA are feeling like they are being specifically targeted by brutal animals. Most people can't live like this. And... to top it off... framers in SA get in trouble for defending themselves. At least in the US they call you a hero if you kill someone who broken into your home. At least we can violently defend ourselves. I suspect the number of white farmers in South Africa will quickly plummet. They will sell when they can. The ones who stay will have turned their farms into an armed camp. Of course, farmland must be losing value like crazy right now.

I was listening to an interview with Terrence McKenna - in which he said that 15 seconds after taking DMT he was no longer an atheist.
I think Crowley came to the same conclusion after his experiments with yoga, hashish and peyote.
Anyone else think that with the right drugs their lack of faith would dissolve like an aspirin in water?

I don't know. What you got?
Re: Fuck off, Jamie!
Yep. I have read most of the Bible, the Koran, the Gita, the Book of the Dead... etc. I have a keen interest in religion and religious thought. But, I remain an atheist. I think the reason for this is that I have never had the kind of emotional event to change me. I am highly stubborn and skeptical. So, even though I spend lots of time and mental energy on religious topics... a never "dive" in.MarcusAu wrote: ↑ I was listening to an interview with Terrence McKenna - in which he said that 15 seconds after taking DMT he was no longer an atheist.

But, I am smart enough to know that I don't really have "control" of my motivations and feelings. For example, I have given up trying to explain why I am so dedicated to my wife or my dog. I don't know what forces power my emotions. The fact that I spend time caring for them somehow just makes me more dedicated. Weird stuff.
I have witnessed people who have had life changing revelations from drug use. I knew a guy who converted from Islam to Christianity after one single LSD trip. And he was totally committed. So, I just don't know. Would certain drugs actually change who I am in a fundamental way? It is possible. If so, is this even the right thing to do? I really don't know.

The real number of farm murders is not represented in the crime stats and the realstic figures demonstrate that farmers are many times more likely to be mudered than the rest of the population. They may even be the most at risk group in the world. The farmers I know don't go anywhere without their weapons. It is one thing to fear being attacked but quite another to know that your children may be tortrued to death and your partner brutally raped and killed while you are forced to watched. The added element that makes the farm attacks noteworthy is that there is some evidence of major political players being involved.

Read the whole thread by Claire Lehman. The problems involved go deeper than racism against whites, and Southern's and others histrionics are hurting rather than helping white farmers. One of the easiest ways to get the vast public to dismiss a serious problem is having an obvious demagogue represent a cause, especially if they misrepresent the facts.Guest_b8931fdb wrote: ↑I've seen this all over the place today, and while I have no clue as to what is happening in South Africa, I am not sure this is the best argument to ignore it.An average of 52 people die in SA every day due to violent crime that's just over 19000 people a year. Meyers announces he is going to Steph Svwzan's Women in Secularism conference this weekend.
I looked at her kickstarter, and her stretch goals for it were interesting.
For Steph, it appears that a free lunch for conference attendess is more important than providing travel grants for the under-privileged.

The thread discusses how Southern misrepresented facts. As to Southern, her reach is only with people already in agreement with her. For most people, it is an easy excuse to dismiss the real problems along with her hyperbole. Imagine if Alex Jones discovered an alien cabal, a real one. Who the fuck would believe him? Some people are have a very toxic brand.ThreeFlangedJavis wrote: ↑Firstly, what makes you so sure Southern is misrepresenting the facts?
