Are you fucking kidding me. We lost and we lost big time, (except Trump, maybe too little to late but I hope not.) A Conservative government (UK) has Turned our (normally joke of a police force) into the Stasi, also see the rest of the EU. Police forces everywhere monitoring 'Islamaphobia' after spending my life fighting the blasphemy laws of the UK. The elitist, globalist, corporatism scumbags ruling all politicians and the MSM, what is even more weird is the left and liberals are their footsoldiers.
So you admit that the clusterfuck you live in is caused by a conservative government and its corporatist supporters (because those sure as hell ain't fans of the socialist left), and then in the same breath blame the left for it? You are funny. Unhinged, but funny.
Neolibs or Neocons what is the difference, they are all elitist establishment corporatist arseholes. That cunt May has been shocking though, pure evil, she has turned the police force into both Stasi and Islamic moral guardians. Got rid of what little free speech we had, I hate her and it is a pity there isn't a hell for her to go to. At least Corbin will only destroy the country, May has sold us all out and she better be replaced soon, funkin' bitch.

Hey, wrasslin' fans, I just finished watching GLOW on NetFlix. Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, a fictionalized show set in the mid 80s. Wife enjoyed it, I've seen a lot worse. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.
The first season was better than the second but the second was still okay. Oddly enough like the real Glow, the in-ring stuff started out bad (as it should) got okay for a while but then fell off again. It that was done on purpose it's pure genius but I don't think it was.

The GLOW documentary, about the actual 80's TV show, is also on Netflix... and it's much better than the fictionalized version.

They proved his point.

"I'm worried about talking to women and I measure my interactions very carefully because I don't want to be pegged as a rapist."

"Only a rapist has to worry about being accused of rape. Henry, you need to measure your interactions with women carefully, rapist."

When shit makes you happy: My 35-yo mare was colicking this morning so I put her in a stall, hit her with some flunixin, gave her a salty mash. She had an appetite so that was good. Not dehydrated despite standing alone in the middle of the field all day yesterday. (She's a bit senile.) Then I checked on her 4 times today. It's hot here, people, pushing 100º. I have to hose off after. (That's sexy just to imagine, I know.) Anyway, the old lady's lively and there was a big, black manure in her stall that obviously had gotten stuck. I'll keep monitoring her, but hopefully that dry dookie was all there was to it.

Hey ladies and gents.

How've you been?

As for me, it's been fine. Until this morning when I woke up to hear my dad convulsing in the bathroom from pain. His lips were a blue-ish colour and he could hardly speak. It was horrible.

Afterwards, he took some of his painkillers and went to bed. He didn't want to go to the hospital. We overruled him. We called an ambulance and they came to pick him up. My mum went with him. Now I'm just waiting to hear if he's okay.

So, how are you? :romance-grouphug:

If I understand him there is no sense in which the story of the tortoise and the hare can be true. It is false in every sense because the story does not describe events that happened in the real world. But what about "the moral of the story"? Can't it be true that procrastination is bad? Or that "slow and steady win the race"? That is what I assume Bret would call the metaphorical truth of the tortoise and the hare story. Or any mythological story for that matter. Or any work of fiction.

Falling apart, piece by piece. Pitch, I am sorry to hear the latest news. I hope it goes as well as it can for your dad. It's great he has you all there to love him, and make decisions like that when he needs them. Sometimes folk need that kick up the arse when they're in trouble, but don't want to admit it to themselves or others. I hope your mom phones soon with good news. And take comfort in the fact that somewhere, franc hoggle is right now seething at your group hug emoji.

High school. Comparative Mythology. If memory serves, we didn't spend much time on the fables themselves; it was more a matter of looking at their evolution from an oral to written tradition.

Note that my experience is likely very atypical. I attended a *really* good school.

I'm pretty sure I was taught them in elementary school. It was the late 60's/early 70's. I don't explicitly remember being taught them, but I am familiar with them, and it had t be from school.

I don't think that I was ever formerly taught this fables - but I definitely knew of the 'Tortoise and the Hare', 'The Fox and the Crow' , 'Renard the Fox' and 'Country Mouse / Town Mouse', 'Peter and the Wolf'. So I'm not really sure where Aseop starts and ends.

I was younger...but probably around 7 when I first heard of them.

I don't know. He was given a hose through his stomach, connected to a bag, that helped him draw urine from his bladder; he couldn't pee normally because his urinary tract was clogged. That was two, three weeks ago. The day before yesterday he found no urine coming through the tube due to some greasy, gray substance. He didn't think it was significant because urine came through eventually and it was "normal." He wasn't in any pain and we thought that was it. Turns out that gray goo was caused by the infection. It got worse yesterday and you know what happened this morning.

All I heard from my mum was they intend to remove the hose. What comes next I don't know. I just know I feel like crap. The waiting's the worst part.

Anyway, as I said, I appreciate you guys for your support. :D

My mom had a pretty serious kidney infection a couple of weeks ago, she's currently doing great. They're painful, but generally treatable. Best of luck to your dad.

I wasn't taught them at school, but I recall my mom reading them to me when i was quite young. I went to a public school, but in a very religious district, and there was apparently some agreement that the school district would stick to basics and let the churches cover morality.

Though I didn't know it at the time, this Disney cartoon is an Aesop's fable. I must have watched it when I was about six or seven.

Arnie and Pit Crew wish you all the best.

Question for the 'Pit.

I think I was, probably in K-3, so a 5-9 year old thing.

As an extracurricular activity, I would come home and study Fractured Fairy Tales.

We were taught Les Fables de La Fontaine, which were a retelling of Aesop's. I think starting at age 5.

And Pitch: all my warmest wishes, you need to stay strong for him.

Now, for a night of being unable to sleep because of all the celebrations.

Update: He's stable. As suspected, it was the grey goo that was the culprit. They got it out and now his condition is stable. He's sedated in the ICU.

<a huge sigh of relief>

Good to hear PG. I'll hoist a pint in celebration as soon as the sun passes the yardarm.

That Edward Everett Horton has a lot to answer for.

I went a catholic school. They didn't teach any of that heathen shit.
Same here. Vaguely might have heard of Aesops Fables and that somehow the tortoise beats the hare but no more .Can't remember how.
Still don't know much more than that without Google.

We were too busy reading Wittgensteins's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus in infants school.

When I was young, Jonathan Livingston Seagull was all the rage, particularly among the charismatics of our catholic parish.

It's a complete piece of dogshit.
