It was in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1921, when white people famously burned to the ground a “Black Wall Street” that had the black side of town doing better than the white side of town, leading to a loss of millions of dollars. There are so many things wrong with this. Not all land was "stolen". Some was not utilised, some was bought and some taken, with compensation, from indigenous types who where turning it into eroded desert. Even if this were not true, the land had to be carefully managed and developed at great expense and effort to be productive. South Africa's farmers have fed the nation and earned export revenue. Their farms are often the result of generations of effort and can be very expensive and require great expertees to run. The government frequently ignores the required criteria for land claims and now land is being given to people with no real claim to the land at all. A lot of it goes to collectives whose only interest is in raiding the government granted operating capital and who are so ignorant that they think they can let labour do the farming for them. The result is more often than not dead fruit trees, weed covered or dusty fields, rusting machinery and empty state of the art processing sheds.The only farming that goes on is with a few subsistence crops and emaciated, worm filled livestock. The once neatly maintained windbreaks of beautiful trees quickly become firewood. Often, the heartbroken white farmers offer to help the new owners rather than see their legacy turn to dust but are told that Africans be doing it for themselves, so fuck off. Obviously the bulk of the workforce is eventually no longer required, so the neighbours now suffer from theft and a farm sized hole in their security.
I have more questions! If they advertise wear your own skin, why do they all have heavy makeup on? Why do they wear pants? The ones I saw once in LA just wore black paint on the bottom halves as well. (Unfortunately there were men as well). The effect on food security will probably be enormous, rural poverty will increase and land management and the environment will suffer a lot. The game on these farms won't last long. Game reserves bounded by redistributed land will suffer a big increase in poaching, maybe even stripping of their fences and possible negative effects on their water supply. It really is just a shortsighted land grab. Of course the politicians go on about how they are going to help the new owners succeed and this is no Zimbabwe, but then they always say that and it nearly always plays out the same way.
I am not worried about us two sys admins. Nor the many mainframe operators (none of the college grad are trained so they are in high demand). It is the one Jr Sys Admin & the two "managers" I am most concerned about placing.

The prospect that the PETA women don't wear trousers because they can't actually find pants that fit is a concept I had not considered before. Maybe if they ate a little more meat it would have been less of an issue.
