So if you want to know how they might of sounded at the time - just imagine all the dialogue as read by Ozzy Osbourne.
Yet another reason to know that illiterate country bumpkin didn't write a single line of those works.

That is the narrative.
But let's look at the tweets they are using as examples.
Out of the 4 tweets listed one guy is complaining about getting sent 5,000 Tweets from CNN. Another guy calls it spam because his phone is going off left & right for tweet alerts.
I am going to have to agree, that twitter is not the place to repost long documents. People would be pissed if I opted to repost War & Peace on twitter too. Some of them are obviously NPR fans & followers.
One guy was clearly confused, but admitted to his stupidity as soon as it was pointed out.
NPR is a trusted news organization so their tweets are probably highly ranked and flooded people's twitter screens.
NPR should have used tweetlonger.

ESPN Magazine's annual Body issue just came out, and the US Women's Hockey team is gorgeous.
I think they airbrushed out one of Caroline Wozniacki's nipples in one of the action shots. That or her areola is so small it would be completely covered by her middle finger.

Couple more like that, and you'll be considered for a Pit Art Master award.

Just noticed this one - sounds very similar to part of an older 120mm loading drill (Chieftain).
That one is actually from the accelerated free fall course - "look, reach, pull" was the standard opening drill followed by "size, shape ...". "Punch, arch, clear" was for reserve deployment. Which I had to do once.

No doubt it sounds more exotic when spoken by Phil in French.
I do reall bellowing "BBDA clear" for the 66 - which was, with the exception of a session with the CharlieG, the biggest bang I got to enjoy.

I date back to non jelly-bean greens which required a matching set for parade starch and creases, gun groups based on buggy M60s and personal weapons that used 7.62. Heck. It was a fine day when the officers F1s were replaced with early model M16s.

Coraline Ada of the Contributor Covenant (Code of Conduct) writes of her amazingly awful year at Github.
And it does sound pretty awful. Her description that it was all about one perfectly reasonable criticism of a survey question just doesn't sound accurate. (Sounds delusional).
But Coraline of Opalgate, called to the carpet because she lacks empathy towards others? Yeah, that I can believe.
where.coraline.codes/blog/my-year-at-github/ <-- her url (wow ".codes" cost $69 per year!) (this is also a test of the URL parser)
Young Yasmin is an outspoken Somali-Australian who leveraged her oppression points until they bit her bum. Winner of multiple Young Muslim of the Year type awards she was a woman on a mission.
Her self immolation started when she stated on TV that "Islam to me is the most feminist religion. We got equal rights well before the Europeans. We don't take our husbands' last names because we ain't their property."
Sharia Law was "about mercy, it's about kindness"
She then shat on ANZAC Day with her (now deleted) tweet "Lest We Forget (Manus, Nauru, Syria, Palestine ...)".
Bleeding hearted liberal ABC axed her show in what our immigration minister described as a good start:
The Immigration Minister said the cancellation of Ms Abdel-Magied’s show was a “good start” in cleaning out the broadcaster. “One down, many to go,” he told Sydney radio station 2GB this morning.
She then declared the Westminster System a failure:
the controversial former ABC presenter called the government a “neoliberalism capitalist project” during a speech at a Canberra leadership forum this week.
Speaking on a panel at the Australian National University, Ms Abdel-Magied suggested the Australian parliamentary system had failed.
To which a Liberal Senator suggested she move to a Arab Dictatorshp - something she found "baffling".
Young Yasmin is an outspoken Somali-Australian who leveraged her oppression points until they bit her bum. Winner of multiple Young Muslim of the Year type awards she was a woman on a mission.
<snip>
The squishy left are in tears. Australia has so far been circumspect enough to avoid requesting a clit-stat report.
Interesting - seems old Yassmin should be in line for a Cunty for 2017. However, not really cool that she's apparently been the target of a bunch alt-right dickheads. No shortage of assholes in all camps. Apropos of which, Cathy Young comments on the phenomenon (IOWWDI):
And there's quite a good post over at Godless Mama on the topic, on the syndrome, particularly within the atheist-skeptic movement:
... what stood out to me most at the time were Tyson’s comments regarding the criticism he has sometimes taken for declining to profess his atheism:
Tyson wrote:I have seen the conduct of outspoken atheists and there is conduct they exhibit that I do not, and so if there’s an emergent sense of what an atheist is, and that sense is being defined by those who are most visible, then I have to say there’s got to be some other word for me, but not that word.'
As much as I respect Dr. Tyson, when I heard these words I admit was slightly put off. .... Fast forward to today, and my heart breaks to admit that I now identify 100% with Tyson’s position. The label of “atheist,” along with the labels “skeptic” and “rationalist,” have become so weighted with the baggage of bad actors that I too am left wondering what to call myself so as to not bear the guilt by association. ....
My point here is not about atheists but about movement atheism, which has become corrupted by the rising prevalence of voices that, at the end of the day, espouse a lot of views that are strikingly and chillingly similar to the religious ones we claim to oppose. Being an outspoken opponent of magical thinking, of interference by religion in the public sphere, and of the many toxic ideas put forward by religion is still an important and worthy cause. But it is time to let go of the idea that religion owns the market of bad ideas. It is time to let go of the conceit that atheists are more willing to challenge their own beliefs than theists. It is time to do away with the notion that to the extent atheists have a PR problem we don’t bear at least some measure of accountability. Above all, it is time for those of us who believe in the cause of movement atheism as a means to making the world better – to eliminating justifications for bigotry and hate and violence, to guiding humanity towards making better choices based on evidence and ethics and empathy rather than on ideology – to clean our own house, to repudiate the voices of bigotry and hypocrisy within our own ranks, and to amplify those voices among us who are intellectually honest, morally courageous, and who better represent the most noble aspirations of our movement.
Think that "bad actors" might reasonably be applied to no few social-justice warriors, and not exclusive to those on the left - Nawaz maybe being a case in point. Seems entirely understandable that people, out of a sense of civic duty or pride ("goeth before a fall ..."), rise to the occasion and put in time and effort for their causes. But it also seems quite understandable that, particularly when there is remuneration and perks, there's a tendency for the tail to wind up wagging the dog.

No three point check in the SLR IA.
Weapon fires, weapons stops, cock lock look
Rounds in the magazine no rounds in the chamber - release the cocking handle and continue firing
After three or so rounds, weapon fires, weapons stops, cock lock look
Rounds in the magazine no rounds in the chamber - adjust the gas setting down and continue firing
Weapon fires, weapons stops, cock lock look
No rounds in the magazine, no rounds in the chamber - replace magazine
Weapon fires, weapons stops, cock lock look
Rounds in the magazine, rounds in the chamber - execute full or partial clearance
Etc ...
It was of course basic stuff. The point, naturally, was to do it instinctively - regardless of stress.
As an instructor you would gradually speed up and hike the aggression and try to get the recruits excited and confused like in a game of Simon says.

I can't find the stats I once saw online, but I think it was like this: while it is true that higher income households have a higher average number of cars, which are more expensive, the percentage of households that have a car at all was not significantly lower in lower income classes. (Only the poorest families have no car, but in large cities many richer families also dropped their car. The picture is nowadays even more skewed because of the increase of car sharing programs).
So it's mostly bunk, and people with an old wreck arguably profit more of high quality asphalt than those with a new, high-end car.

So poor people don't use roads? They get from place to place simply by walking, or by flying bus? Their food delivered by drone, all the amenities of life brought to them by apparently mysterious, non-infrastructure means? Fascinating.

A rich guy who owns five cars can still only drive one car at a time.
There are good arguments for prioritizing other forms of transit over road upgrades (the biggest ones being that new roads intended to alleviate traffic from existing roads always end up creating new traffic, and that roads unlike rail only decrease in efficiency the more people use it at once), but you can't neglect roads, because poor people use them as well. They drive. They take the bus.

Well, if they want bridges instead of walls, maybe they could build a massive bridge to and from nowhere, running parallel with the US/Mexican border, but instead of a large span being held up by applying knowledge of physics to building materials it has large supporting pillars 2mm apart from each other. Hey presto, and maybe Mexico will pay after all.
