It is also of interest is that the drive from Columbus to Milwaukee is only 7 hours. Easily driveable in a single day. The extra nights on the road he is begging for are for pure promotion. Get a few free drinks. Maybe some free food. Maybe arrange for a talk as long as they are going to a pub. Do a little book signing. Sell some books.Really? wrote:I always love how he points out that he is willing to take his time to sign and inscribe his books. How kind of him to offer his fans such devoted service! Ghostbusters headed for $70M loss, sequel unlikely. Maybe making a crappy movie and then attacking your audience wasn't such a good idea.

I don't think that is true -
- 1) saying a movie sucks
- 2) being critical (if not outright rude) to someone
are both not inherently political (or right-wing) viewpoints.
It is more likely that the powers that be at twitter (and probably not the Trust & Safety Council) decided that it was a better business model to suck up to celebrities and provide them a safe space.
And so they ignored their stated commitment to free speech when they felt it would effect their bottom line.
I agree he was banned for being a dick not for politics, but I do feel that his politics made him a target.
They have discussed it a couple of times on Leo Laporte's podcast. Laporte, who doesn't do a lot of politics because he is good at his job, kinda defended Milo stating that at least Milo used his real name and the really nasty trolls don't and they just create new accounts and go about their business. Pretty much everyone else disagreed with him. Funny enough that all died down and then last week jason calacanis was on twit and during a discussion about twitter stated milo shouldn't have been banned and twitter was making a mistake playing politics. He even used the term regressive left.

You know it's the attacking your audience that was the issue. Honestly if they have wouldn't have done that and just made a shitty movie I would probably have wanted to see it because I like Ghostbusters.

I’ll be driving from Columbus to Milwaukee to attend the debate. But I don’t have to go direct. I can go a circuitous route. So I’ll be giving those tickets to anyone who can arrange the following:
A place to crash for a night on my way to Milwaukee.
A gathering of fans or any other interested folk who’d love to hang out and chat with me about history or philosophy, at any pub of your choosing (or any house or place you prefer).
Apparently, he will give the tickets to the first four applicants who can provide a sofa bed and some groupies. Too bad he's not going through MN, as I am sure Stephanie Svan would be able to give him a warm reception.

However, I do think there's something to the idea that shaking up the presidential electoral status quo might a worthwhile way to get some change in the medium-run. I also think it's fairly safe. It's not like the Republicans are going to magically go along with her because she wins a few more states. (I think if the situation was reversed, actually, the Democrats might be more willing to capitulate if they lose a few more states than normal so maybe it doesn't work the other way).
But I do think that losing say, Georgia and Arizona means that the GOP has to fundamentally rethink their presidential level strategy. Or it might not matter at all, because they'll just think that Trump is an outlier. Probably the latter so all of that is a moot point.

There may be some truth to his being targeted for his politics - but it suits his purposes to obfusticate rather than clarify things and Twitter is running silent so who knows how much?
I do think that Twitter did themselves no favours in the way they handled him. But it's their business they can screw it up how they want.
Anyway, if you have a link to the podcast or any info as to who Leo Laporte is - don't keep it to yourself.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.bbc.co ... ent=safariMore than a third of female students 'have mental health problems'
One in three female students in the UK has a mental health problem, a survey suggests.
This compared with about a fifth of male undergraduates, the YouGov survey of 1,061 students found.
Overall, some 27% of the students said they had a mental health problem. This rose to 45% among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students.
Universities UK said institutions were working hard to develop good services that linked in with the NHS.
Of those students who said they had a mental health problem:
77% had depression
74% had anxiety
In May, statistics published by the ONS showed student suicides had risen to their highest level since numbers were first recorded in 2007.
These figures - for 2014 - showed there were 130 suicides in England and Wales among full-time students aged 18 or above. Of those, 97 deaths were for male students and 33 were females.
Note that the headline is about female students while the stats show suicide among male students is three times as high.

The culture of "naming and shaming", of "calling out", has created many such echo chambers in the fields where PR matters.

That second option may work for romcoms that women actually want to see ( #NotAll ) - but not for an action-comedy which traditionally they are less interested in.
Perhaps also the tide is turning with shaming men.

I suspect most women are just as averse of political bollocks in their summer flick as men.Kirbmarc wrote:That's because you have many SJW echo chambers in the art/entertainment business. Feig probably works with a marketing team which more or less ideologically aligned with him. They were probably convinced that the "misogynistic man-baby trolls" weren't going to affect the ticket sales, and were going to just generate more drama.

I'll say it again: Go read the leaked Sony emails. Their stupidity runs so deep the Ghostbusters marketing was merely the topmost atom on the tip of that iceberg.

Re: The Refuge of the Toads
Oh shit, I thought I was keeping up on my recent vanity search after semi-ghosting my favourite internet lover, The SlymePit, but I missed this one until the quote, so I've been a cad to you all, not writing or calling after the good times. :shifty: You're all still my best internet place I've ever hung out in even though I've gone on to strange other pastures on alien planets.AndrewV69 wrote:Unless the game manages to disappoint her, I do not expect to see her for awhile. Any word on Scented?
The PC version doesn't come out until tomorrow, so a whole bunch of people have started to play before me.
However, this has meant that I've been watching a huge ton of gameplay. I'm now very prepared for things tomorrow. I have strategies planned. I've become a backseat driver watching others and yelling at the screen: "what the fuck, you idiot, don't walk away from that, there's a fucking [whatever] right there!", "omg, what the fuck's this idiot doing????", and "oh you fucking moron, you won't find your mining beam in your SHIP's inventory, go to your multi-tool's inventory you retard!!!!".
Having not been a true gamer before, as in first person shooter that I've played for more than just a couple hours in the early 90s, I was a little nervous about stuff that others might know and take for granted, but which might fuck me up. Now, I'm very confident about going in tomorrow morning. I guess I've been an old fashioned girl all along, just waiting for the right game to come along and make me fall in looooove. Oh good god, who'd have thought that would happen to a cold-hearted cunt like me!
I'm probably going to record a response video to my first gameplay. Not for sure yet, but most likely. If I do, I'll post it here.
Hey, does anyone want a planet or animal or plant named after them? I might call my first planet "The SlymePit". I guess I better keep reading up here today if I want to see any answers to that. Actually, just say "scented" somewhere, since the way I've neglected the Pit lately, I'll probably just F5 for that.
Oh, I'm feeling all mushy and sentimental like I'm saying goodbye to an old lover because I'm now getting married or something. Someone please take me out to the back of the barn and shoot me if I get any worse, ok? :P

This is a nightmare for any SJW. The rapist is of a "protected class" ethnicity, making it really tough for SJWs to attack any decision.pro-boxing-fan wrote:Apparently, a judge with sjw tendancies might have some bias.
