Is it not commonly understood that users are not merely anonymous to other users but to the platform as well? What's interesting is he says this is the second time someone has done this to him, which begs the question of why he didn't try to press charges the first time, and why he didn't turn off the fucking autoplay function.
But I also strongly agree with the point that this has happened to him before, and it appears he has done nothing to prevent it from recurring on his own computer.

You just don't get it Kirbmarc. Every sound for which you cannot prove the origin with certainty must be made by a bigfoot. Well you can't have a woman on the cover otherwise it might offend Muslims. Even to use the word 'erasure' would be islamophobic.
Anyway, why two transwomen? Do they outnumber men two-to-one?
Plus they call the dude 'male' instead of 'cis-male'. That's hate speech or something. I am so triggered right now I am literally crying and shaking.

Re: The Refuge of the Toads
The NatGeo cover is a bunch of people who are not half as interesting as they seem to think they are.
I'm sure that it could be placed in context by comparing it to covers of years past - the hippies in the 1960's come to mind.
I think they might find changing society is not quite as easy as they are hoping. And this revolution (if that's what it is) seems trivial in comparison to others.
Is it silly season where everyone's about to go on holiday - and it was a slow news week?

It can, and frequently does, feel quite isolating when virtually everyone around you is bought into a closed mentality. This person knows me well, and knows I'm not a right winger (not that there is anything wrong with being that) so it did seem pretty harsh and judgemental.
I did sort of prove my point though, complete intolerance.

Re: The Refuge of the Toads
So there's a discussion on KiA about animation, and apparently the SJW author mentioned something about Disney's infamous ink and paint girls (that for approximately half its life, Disney didn't allow women as animators and would only hire them to work in ink and paint). Naturally, because an SJW said it, there was pushback, but in this specific instance it was wrongheaded because they're completely correct. Some idiots even trotted out the "times was different back then" defense not knowing that this was very much a Disney-specific problem (the arts, after all, tend to be more liberal than mainstream society). Fleischer studios had women animators in the 1920s, and for a period they were bigger than Disney and lead the industry.
What was funniest to me though was someone trotting out a defense that I've seen Karen Straughan use before, which was that owing to the nature of society back then, with men as breadwinners, it was wrong to give a woman a job at the expense of man.
Thing is, Straughan used this argument to explain the "mysoginy" of Middle Eastern craphole economies where high unemployment is a rule. It doesn't work at all in Western liberal democracies where economics is far from zero sum (any conservative economist would have called bullshit on that). Shit, I thought the official anti-PC position which I was all in favor of was hiring the best person for the job regardless, but fuck these retards if they're just going to go SJW in reverse.

Never heard of the Crit Hulk and an odd persona to write reviews with, in all caps and third person, though he nails it indeed. There seems to be a few people now who notice JJ Abrams weird talent that is rather dangerous, in a sense. He seems to deliver a good film, which is entertaining, but has actually destroyed everything in the process, with empty characters that have no motivation or emotions, just attitudes and facial expression. So he gets invited again and again, yet wrecks havoc. As long as he does it stand-alone films, the damage is limited, but allow him to direct something in an established franchise and he can destroy much more in the process — as he did in Star Wars and Star Trek.jet_lagg wrote:Aneris, have you read Film Crit Hulk's essay The Force Alluded To? The guy can be an insufferable SJW half the time, but I've always enjoyed his ideas on film. As a fellow Star Wars geek he nails everything that's wrong with Abrams' version, and points out many of the same issues that you've noted.
I've been hearing a lot of good things about Rogue One. I had planned to skip it based on the trailer and just how tedious Edwards' other films can be, but might go this weekend after all.
