Youtube Red?

You mean RedTube?

I don't think Youtube has though this through enough. Personally, I think having a pay option to get rid of advertisements is a good idea. However, as you have stated, $10/month is a little steep for youtube videos. And I doubt that Youtube earns $10 in advertisements per month from the average viewer of youtube.

I have to assume that they are hoping to bring in enough money to raise the level of quality of youtube videos in their private access area. But the bulk of the internet just doesn't care about seeing PewDiePie in a haunted house.

Gregory at #30 sais....
The Patriarchy is not synonymous will all men everywhere, but is instead a term with a very specific meaning used to describe a toxic social system that tends to afford undue and harmful privilege to certain specific manifestations of the performance of masculinity.
Please perform your specific manly manifestations of masculinity with a clear conscience this weekend.

So it appears that College Humor put together a paid advertisement that might not actually be as supportive of the 1 in 5 statistic that is being pushed by the group paying them.

Can you image what would happen if that idea was run with. Signs posted all over campus that 1 in 5 students are killed by bears. Calling anyone speciest if they challenge the claim. Only a BRA (Bear Rights Activist) would disagree.

It appears that Laughing Witch has taken down her ebegging fund. I guess she knows that it makes her look bad. Or at least that donations had trickled down to the level that the harm that ebegging did, no longer offset the income.
https://fundanything.com/en/campaigns/b ... ense-fund/

However she has stated in other recent videos that she intends to open a patreon account. It isn't up yet.

Her bizarre explanation for taking it down, from this YouTube video:
Laughing Witch wrote:Now, we've taken it down, because Google corporate has gotten back in touch with us and told us that they took it very seriously and they're cleaning it up immediately, and they're even going to his video and capturing and removing threats that people are making in his comment section. You know, like, rape and murder threats, that kind of thing. Which we knew was coming, right? So the investigation continues, so this is from the inside, this is why there was a fundraiser.
Can anyone translate this word-salad into something coherent? They took down their fundraiser because Google is cleaning up comments on someone's YouTube video?

Parklife.

Gregory also excretes the following:
that men have never been subject to any kind of collective guilt for misogyny or rape culture
Yes, no feminist has ever applied the concept of collective guilt to all men.

I have come to the conclusion that the universe would be better off without humanity, and I hope that a giant asteroid hits the Earth and wipes us all out. I just can't stand the stupid any more.

You also get Google Play Music (Which I already subscribe to) as well. So I see it as a free add on to my current subscription. There are some other goodies as well - Which includes the ability to download and store videos - also to just download and store the audio stream. I listen to music while I'm driving/running and this is a good way to grab music from unpublished indie bands who aren't on any other streaming service.

Kind of the same goal of Original Sin in the Catholic Church. Make everyone feel guilty, so they feel ashamed and must make amends. And who tells you how to make things right? The same ones who told you that you have Original Sin.

The goal is to collect as many servile lackeys as possible to do what they say based on their whims. It is all about control.

Not my favorite episode. However, despite the limited special effects of the time, I far preferred the original Star Trek to The Next Generation. The original was about exploration, space battles and action.

The Next Generation was a bunch of semi-utopian pansies melting around their own interpersonal drama. They talked about how awesome the characters were outside of the show, than they actually demonstrated in the show. Riker was supposed to be the swash buckling man of action on the ground, but he just pansied around on the ship. Wesley was supposed to be some math super genius , but just stat around at the console like some dorky kid who presses buttons.

All talk. No demonstration.

I haven't seen any examples of threats in her Youtube channel comments either. I know she's claiming to be deleting lots, but if that were the case, you'd expect some to make it through in the most recent comments.

LW just posted a sample of the phone harassment on YouTube:

Of the four messages, one of them seems like it might be a genuine business cancellation (i.e. not hate-related), although the original appt he claims to have made might have been a wind-up. Another one hardly seemed to meet the criteria for harassment as the dude simply expressed surprise that they were still in business and then started to crack up. Anyway, unpleasant though the other calls were, it hardly paints the picture of an invading army.

Of course, LW claims that:
These are the messages that are not to obscene, just a small sample."

The Next Generation was a five year mission to seek out new life and new civilisations, then sit around a table talking about it while agonising over the Prime Directive.

Kirk didn't need a councelor, he just needed a regular shag; and if the Enterprise bar served synthohol Scotty would have washed his tools in it.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet.

CFI LA, one of the few centers with a permanent meeting space, is selling their building.

Skeptical Inquirer magazine and CFI raised money from donors to buy that building, and build the Steve Allen Theatre.
Now that is going all away.

They are now in Hollywood, near a metro station. They will never be able to buy another place close to the action, with a parking lot and a theatre (which generated revenue in lean times). If they get something better than office space, I will be impressed.
They are painting this like it is great thing.

The 2 occupants adjacent to their building are churches...I wonder if one of them bought it?

If I was paying him to educate me, well that comment would raise large flapping red flags.

Imagine in a commercial setting:

"That wil be $240 sir - please rate your experience on yelp"

Ah... the old Scientology Ideal Org plan.

The people who donated for the space probably liked the idea of having a permanent meeting space. I wonder if the desire to pay full time staff salaries outweighed the desire for CFI to keep that space. I doubt the people who donated, would have agreed to that kind of trade off had they known that going in.

I guess Lindsay is busy making the hard calls before he hands off the operations to his successor. You can always blame the guy who is gone.

The Next Generation was ruined by inconsistent writers (See the Original Borg Concept in their intro episode*all about the technology, presumably strictly utilitarian* vs what they became after a few episodes: vampires with a female queen) and an early flirting with Political Correctness, in part because that was how Roddenberry saw the original series, until he was actually forced to make it more Space Cowboy/Adventure by the network. I much prefer the original to the Next Generation though I will admit to enjoying some episodes and some concepts. I view the Next Gen as a worthy successor - but just barely. Don't even ask about Deep Space Nine or Voyager.

You see right now, I'm bored. I can see how vulnerable LW is to a specific type of trolling attack. I am certain that if I were to call and leave a message on the business phone, she would play it on youtube as an example of harassment. However, that could be my goal.

I could call LaughingWitch's bath tub company and say this on the answering machine:
- play Rick Astley, and nothing else. See if she uploads that.

- pretend to have that 'deaf accent', you know that half-human half-seal bark, and then say "I-AAHHH THRAAAHTTTAHHHN YOUUU!" So she gets a 'deaf threat'

- speak in gibberish code, "RED SQUIRREL THIS IS MOTHER GOOSE, YOU'RE COMING IN HOT! ABORT."

- say "Thunderf00t told me that he wanted me to be his emissary to you, as he doesn't like that other guy you tried to use. Anyway, he's very sorry. He wants you to please call off the cops, the feds, and the google ideas goonsquad. He's willing to delete all videos about Anita Sarkeesian, like you said. He's willing to resign from the head of the fascists on youtube, and as the baphomet leader. You have my number."

I promise you that LW would play EVERY one of those, as examples of harassment, on her youtube channel.

It's one of 4chan's specialties to trick people into thinking that they have some sort of insider information, and play into people's fears, only to have the ultimate point be something retarded like dragon ball z...

Yale Mission Statement:
Like all great research universities, Yale has a tripartite mission: to create, preserve, and disseminate knowledge a place of comfort and home for the students.

No longer working at a college and being fired from a college are two separate things. I would imaging that moves academic careers are somewhat frequent for those who have not settled in.
This is from 2011. The video was re-uploaded.

Grant money ran out, according to his own explanation. The social justice retards took to claiming that he must have done something really sinister that got him fired.

I really do envy someone who gets to have such stupid enemies.

I understand that. I believe he re-uploaded this as "evidence" that he was fired, also Jenny McDermott pointed to this as evidence that the Dawahfilms campaign worked and he presumably was found guilty of islamophobia.
My guess would be as deLurch mentioned that he just completed a temporary position/ research contract.
I wonder if he or Cornell has ever addressed this allegation, or whether he just couldn't be bothered.

Perhaps the only way they could come up with to get Surly out of the building, was to sell the building.
Oh noes! Where is Surly Amy going to sell her art. I mean hold her important atheist/skeptic meetings?

The Next Generation was a bunch of semi-utopian pansies melting around their own interpersonal drama. They talked about how awesome the characters were outside of the show, than they actually demonstrated in the show. Riker was supposed to be the swash buckling man of action on the ground, but he just pansied around on the ship. Wesley was supposed to be some math super genius , but just stat around at the console like some dorky kid who presses buttons.

All talk. No demonstration.

You were going so well until the final word.

So at the Bay Science thing the organisers decided Quiz-a-thing wouldn't be a stand alone act like in 2014, so it got paired with "who's the expert'.

The latter had on the night "tech" problems. So did the organisers wave them down? Like hell! Quiz-a-thing got over an hour wiped from its schedule and was massively truncated so the who's the expert show could roll on.

Did the crowd riot? Bwhahah.

I would have paid good money to watch Becky twitch and spasm as "her" mins ticked away.

Next QuizThing is in SF Nov 16 for 8 bucks. Becky will throw free tickets at Patrons.

QuizThing will also be released as a "podcast" - but given twato's mumbled enthusiasm, I wouldn't hold your breath. Poor fucking 'caught in the headlights' Adam.

There will be another Becky live feed available to $5 plus patrons on the 15th. This has been the first in recent memory. Remember, Becky post-SGU redid her rewards, killing off her high overhead drawings and poems and making $3 the entry point for access to her vlogs. She also promised $5 people access to a revitalised monthly live stream. That lasted two months, just long enough to sucker the punters in, before misting away to oblivion. Here without a moments self awareness she throws one to her legion. Meanwhile her site still provides the terminus siren call:

"On the first Saturday of each month, I'll host a live stream on Spreecast, and you can join in! Shows will include special guests, and you may be able to hop on video chat and ask questions, if you behave yourself. "

Moving on.

Apparently she has had "so many" bad experiences with TV production companies. I wouldn't have thought rejection notices would count? So she is toying with getting an agent.

That is all.

*snip*
Bollocks. It was all about transferring earthly thoughts, fashions, and races onto aliens. Yes, it was terribly acted and the special effects were shoddy. But the same is true for Dr Who, and in both cases the reboot was/is much better than the original in terms of storyline/arc, character progression, and of course special effects.

Original ST and DW used what they had, technologically, but that is no reason to continue spouting that they were any good. Whereas with Star Wars, Lucas was so forward-thinking that no follow up has yet come close to the originals after nearly 40 years.

The SJW's rabid attack on Cassie Jaye is YA 'bring me Fegelein!' bunker-moment of a shrinking, dying cult.

Turns out Jaye is the writer/director/producer of DADDY, I DO, the exposé of the incestuously creepy phenomonon of purity balls (which was posted at the 'Pit a while back.)

She also wrote, directed and produced THE RIGHT TO LOVE: AN AMERICAN FAMILY, a pro-gay marriage documentary that the SF Examiner described as "[t]he gay movie conservatives don’t want you to see" and exclaims "[t]his is how you change hearts and minds" about acceptance of gay parents.

So great job, Futrelle, you flatuant fat slob, et al. -- way to purify Teh Movement by crucifying backsliders who deviate one iota from SJW dogma!

Becky gets paid to make those videos right? It looks like she is doing them with her cellphone.
She is so lazy she can't set up a tripod so the viewer doesn't get motion sickness trying to watch it. Of course, why should she bother with the special effects when she has such sparkling content?

To each his own. But nothing tops Helen Mirren in AGE OF CONSENT. (Though Juliet Mills in AVANTI is a close second.)

RW does Adam quality videos for the money, but the idea is that since anyone can watch them, her patreons (who stump up the loot) get these special reward value adds. Just to say thanks.

That's what makes them so egregious. You could accept being commercially raped. This is date rape. From an old friend.

The irony is that Futrelle is trying to paint her and anyone who supports objectivity as monsters, when I'm going to go out on a limb and say that most of them are like 99% of Pitters.

We're pro-gay marriage and anti-sexual repression of women/subjugation of women to their fathers.

So what's he bitching about?
