I put it down to directors and what they want.Kirbmarc wrote:By the way, leaving aside the SJW outrage, Cumberbatch was a much worse Khan than Montalban. Montalban's performarce was probably the best acting in a Star Trek movie, and he made Khan into a nuanced, miluti-layered, charismatic and even slightly sympathetic bad guy. Cumberbatch's Khan was simply a raving loon with little more than superficial charisma.
For example, Liam Neeson in The Prequel That Shall Not Be Named, was just fucking awful. But I blame Lucas and the shitty script. Because I've seen Neesen in a lot of movies where he's been pretty good even if the movie was a bit trite or whatnot: Rob Roy, Nell, Schindler's List. But because he seems to take anything offered, you also get crappy performances such as we got in the The Prequel, Taken and few others.
Re: Happy 3rd Pit Birthday!
Rob Roy has the best swordfight of any film period.
Also, Neeson wasn't the only good actor in the prequels who turned in a poor performance, and it's absolutely down to bad direction.

Ford was good.katamari Damassi wrote: Really enjoyed it but didn't go gaga over it. I liked Ford more than I thought. I liked that the villain lacked confidence. Didn't like that Jedi chick was instantly proficient at everything she attempted. Liked the new characters overall. Plot felt like the original trilogy compressed into one movie. Unlike the prequels though, it felt like a SW film.
Adam Driver was not.
Agree on Rey.
Boyega was pretty good.
Fischer was terrible.
But my big thing was it was just so obvious. Way too many things were telegraphed and you knew they were going to happen well before they happened. And the reason is that it became clear, fairly early, that the movie was being substantially recycled from previous movies as the script writers and director just strung together their favorite nostalgic bits from the earlier movies, including some of the lines (delivered verbatim).
Plus, there was a good dozen times that the exact right people met at the exact right time with the exact right McGuffin to move the plot along. And the movie suffered from this over-use of Deus Ex Machina in this movie including the entire ending.
In the end, it felt like a fan 'mash up' of the first two movies than a movie, mostly the first, than a professional reboot of a tired series.
But at least it wasn't full of lens flares...
Re: Happy 3rd Pit Birthday!
I liked Adam Driver a lot. I know a lot of people just don't like his character, but I think his performance was exactly right for it.
Carrie Fischer just can't move her face. It's hard for me to rate her performance without factoring that in. But she had to be in the movie or hell would have been raised.
Also, not related to anything, but tabloids are floating the rumor that Caitlyn Jenner might be re-thinking things. Don't put too much stock in it, but do keep your ears open.

Except, of course, that in the rest of the SJW Universe of Bad Ideas, there's no such thing as a 'ladybrain.' There are just brains. No male brains. No female brains. Just brains. Ok so, if lady brain = the right to be regarded as a woman, then surely one drop of black blood = the right to be regarded as black person. In fact, a group of people in NYC had their ancestry traced, and the black guy had a preponderance of European DNA (whatever that means) whereas many of the whities were straight out of Africa. I think that, according to various waves of migration out of Africa, that some came through what is modern day Israel, whereas others skipped that and jumped from north Africa to Spain etc.
I totally reaped "that" but I am not going to be oppressed by grammar.

If gender differences aren't relevant, why do some people feel like they belong to a gender, even one that doesn't match their sex?
Anyway, seriously speaking, I think that we might be classifying under the same label of "trans" a spectrum of different psychological and physiological phenomena. Especially since right now the SJWs are hindering any serious attempt to come up with a definition of "trans" that isn't based only on self-identification.

Here's a Cait story I found while looking for some backup on that rumor:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-n ... er-7086515Chelsea Manning has hit out at Caitlyn Jenner and accused her of selling out the transgender movement this year.
The US whistle blower, who came out some months ago, took to Twitter to slam the reality TV star, calling her 'the grinch'.
She wrote on the social media site: "In 2015 @Caitlyn_Jenner was the grinch who stole (& sold out) the trans movement.
"All I want 4 Xmas is Universal Trans Lib. #ChristmasEve2015."

I liked him as a kind of pathetic emo Darth Vader wannabe. The film was basically a well-done tribute act, faithfully recreating the old songs, but no surprises.

I'm currently formulating a shitty fan theory that Philip K Dick's The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch was actually a warning about an extradimensional being named Anakin Skywalker attempting (and succeeding) to imprint himself on every facet of our reality as a god via the medium of Star Wars. And that the 'black iron prison' which so haunted PKD was actually Darth Vader's mask.
If I can be arsed to make anything more of it, I may even submit it to the shitty fan theories Reddit.
This new e-liquid is interesting stuff, btw.

I think you're on to something. This is what the SJWs always say. Life is so easy for white people. So easy for cis people. So easy for men. And she, in turn, gives him the gift of her sex. For all the right reasons, of course:
That, right there, is the nub of it. A grotesque and revolting abuser/abuse situation with all of Stubblefield's narcissism and manipulation laid...well, bare. I mean, we can safely presume DJ wasn't exactly an aficitionado of porn, given that he would have been personally incapable of accessing Pornhub or slipping a saucy bluray into the machine. And yet we are led to believe that he thinks 'women in porn are being exploited, and that, besides, Anna was more beautiful than any porn star.'Anna asked him if he might want to see some pornography, ‘‘to see what things looked like and different positions people used and that sort of thing.’’ She said she wouldn’t want to pay for porn or watch anything offensive, but that she would be O.K. with finding free clips on the Internet that depicted couples engaging in mutually pleasurable intercourse. He demurred, typing out that in his view the women in porn are being exploited, and that, besides, Anna was more beautiful than any porn star, and he really wanted to be thinking only about her when they finally made love.
Even if Anna was delusional and borderline psychotic with DJ in those moments of a fantasy love affair in which she was the all powerful nurturing woman. Even if DJ was without capacity to resist or demure from his innocent participation in this pathetic charade. After all the heinous loathing we can muster for the perp. Still and all, WHERE ARE THE DAMAGES?
But Anna is not really a monster so much as she is extremely confused.
No doubt in my mind that if a bloke had done this to a severely mentally disabled woman they'd want him lynched from the nearest lamppost.I don't believe a single word about DJ's communications with Anna. That said, her harsh sentence is an absolute abomination and testament to the cruelty and insanity of our so-called justice system.

And um, how frequently do plastic surgeons lose their license over it (and should they?)

Well the radfems argue that there are no differences between male and female brains. That sexual dimorphism does in fact exist, and that cishet men use women's biology against them in order to oppress them.
Trans folks used to say that gender was a social construct, and that sexual dimorphism existed in objective reality. Now they are trying to say that both biological sex and gender were invented by cishet white patriarchs to oppress women and trans persons.
However, as evidenced by my horrific experience on Love Joy Feminism last week, both groups want to claim that 1) no differences exist between the sexes, which is why women and trans should be treated equally. Hence the incessant crying about how biological sex is merely an illusion, and that once we realize that, we will start treating trans women like real women. But...2) because womyn and trans have been oppressed for thousands of years by cishet white males, we must strive to highlight these differences, because womyn and trans persons need special treatment just to be equal with their oppressors.
Oh, and race can be added to that as well.
It's all a social construct until you need it to get ahead in life. Preferably, over the bodies of white men.

In the long run though, it's probably a good thing that we have all these wealthy people in Hollywood paying good money to give surgeons the practice they'll need for when regular people need actual reconstructive surgery after a car accident or a bear attack.

The food was not particularly great, but I worked from 10 AM till 4AM some days so I could afford to go to culinary school. Cooks are overworked, underpaid, understaffed and generally overwhelmed. We do the best we can under the circumstances, even at high-end restaurants. I guess the point I’m trying to make is that if someone had come into my kitchen on one of those nights and complained that the authenticity of the food had offended them personally, I would have tried to knock their goddamn teeth out with a frying pan. That’s real talk.

It's not even SJWs but has become an 'point of truth' on the left and goes for more than 'just brains.' It's all male-female performance differences beyond mere reproductive organs. And people will contrive & lie like crazy to support that belief.Kirbmarc wrote:
If they believe that what you wrote is true, how do they justify the existence of trans people?
If gender differences aren't relevant, why do some people feel like they belong to a gender, even one that doesn't match their sex?
Anyway, seriously speaking, I think that we might be classifying under the same label of "trans" a spectrum of different psychological and physiological phenomena. Especially since right now the SJWs are hindering any serious attempt to come up with a definition of "trans" that isn't based only on self-identification.
To illustrate a typical case, Myth Busters did thing on 'throws like a girl.' Adam Savage is big-time liberal so he completely contrived the 'experiment' so he could get the results he wanted. And his conclusion was 'there was no difference.'
However, in the real world, we know that men throw harder, faster and further than women. We can see this at all levels, from elementary school (where it's small, but there) to high-school where it rapidly diverges to the favor of young men during puberty. And we have all the records to prove it. Yet it is considered an unimpeachable point of 'truth,' by way too many on the left, that these differences are not inherent to the superior musculature and size of men, but are caused by discrimination against girls & women.
If we go to brains, we talk about wiring. About processing centers. About how men and women's brains solve math problems differently. How women have certain advantages. How men have certain advantages. How the composition is different (grey & white matter). But that's rejected as well. Because the iron rule all differences must only be from socialization and discrimination, not inherent to the populations.
What's funny, or perhaps bitterly ironic, is that it's the same tabula rasa argument the 'Gay is a Choice,' therefore sin, made by conservative Christians. ONly in this case, it's blame laid at the feet of 'the Patriarchy' instead of individual choice.

Yeah, I'd heard of this Stubblefield thing. Reading this overview, it's clear she was involved in an SJW Mary Sue fantasy of her own making.
He demurred, typing out that in his view the women in porn are being exploited, and that, besides, Anna was more beautiful than any porn star, and he really wanted to be thinking only about her when they finally made love.Even if Anna was delusional and borderline psychotic with DJ in those moments of a fantasy love affair in which she was the all powerful nurturing woman. Even if DJ was without capacity to resist or demure from his innocent participation in this pathetic charade. After all the heinous loathing we can muster for the perp. Still and all, WHERE ARE THE DAMAGES?But Anna is not really a monster so much as she is extremely confused.

Look at those filthy actual rape apologists. They don't believe that Stubblefield is innocent, they think she'sguilty but offer justification for her acts. This is what real rape apology looks like.Tony Parsehole wrote:

Actually this is nothing new. The SJWs coddle alleged child rapists like Ogvorbis, find excuses for the pedophilia apologist Sarah Butts, and have among their ranks convicted statutory rapists like HannibalTheVictor.
The SJW movement is the real "haven for rapists".

Stubblefield is a "womyn" and a SJW and therefore innocent by default. She has no privilege or power, so how can she be a rapist?Tribble wrote:He couldn't possibly consent. It was rape. a 4-3 ruling Tuesday afternoon, the Connecticut State Supreme Court overturned the sexual assault conviction of a man who had sex with a woman who “has severe cerebral palsy, has the intellectual functional equivalent of a 3-year-old and cannot verbally communicate.” The Court held that, because Connecticut statutes define physical incapacity for the purpose of sexual assault as “unconscious or for any other reason. . . physically unable to communicate unwillingness to an act,” the defendant could not be convicted if there was any chance that the victim could have communicated her lack of consent. Since the victim in this case was capable of “biting, kicking, scratching, screeching, groaning or gesturing,” the Court ruled that that victim could have communicated lack of consent despite her serious mental deficiencies:

The laws in Connecticut need to change in order to consider the mental age and inability to communicate as evidence of impossibility to give meaningful consent.
People who have the mental age of a minor should be protected from sexual exploitation from people with the mental age of adults, just like minors are protected from sexual exploitation from adults.

Anyway, I'm a middle-aged pasty white woman, so I'll never be suspected of terrorism. OK, eco-terrorism, maybe, but it's unlikely. Contrast my privilege with the un-privilege of unfortunate middle-aged black woman in Chicago who was shot to death just for opening the door for the police. :(
Why aren't the SJWs outraged about that? Talk about your basic travesty of justice.
