Some of the sample questions she posted at Skepchick were biomedical more than chemical at her skeptic post, so the carrot oil one may be an interesting addition, and I'd like to see a chemist take it on. :)

Interesting interview with Maajid Nawaz, who, as a young man, was an Islamic extremist, and now works to counter such attitudes and actions:

Nawaz points out that it's dishonorable to characterize the Charlie Hebdo cartoons as racist, and that the extremist reaction is to the blasphemy of representing Mohammed. He also gives the example of the genocide of Bosnian Muslims, many of whom were blond and blue-eyed, as running counter to the notion of racism.
