Sometimes I like to think that they're all Poes, even PZ, are basically trolling the A/S movement for the lulz. Sometimes I think that sooner or later PZ is going to post a "Gotcha" post and reveal how he has been laughing at your expense the whole time.

Because the alternative is that a group of so-called skeptics have degenerated into a crowd of raving mad idiots, and that's just sad.
No, they were raving mad idiots all along. They just showed up & said, 'Hi, we're skeptics, too. Can we join in?' and the skeptics said, 'Sure! We're such a small minority, we'll take anybody.'

I think the problem is that they were stupid enough to try and handle her stupid claims with kid gloves (i.e. unprofessionally) early on and have gotten themselves into an untenable position. They can now choose to continue to support her fantasies and keep being the laughing stock of all skeptical thinkers, or they can distance themselves and have the harpies and wannabe harpy-fuckers from SJW land rend their vitals in public. I see no middle course.

This will not end well for CFI, methinks.
I'm happy for Lindsay and Melody to rot in each other's vileness. After what they did to Paul Kurtz they deserve it.

I think your first supposition is probably close to the truth. They probably thought it would blow over, but underestimated Malady's need for attention and capacity to malinger. I'm sure Hensley has explored the nuclear option(workers' comp, ADA, hostile workplace, etc)and had a lawyer write CFI on her behalf. CFI is probably terrified of her. CFI is a sinking ship and Malady is the albatross around Lindsay's neck.

I guess I'll be the asshole here. I'm not a doctor or psychologist, and have no special in-depth knowledge of PTSD beyond the average layman's. In my opinion if you (generic you) put yourself out on social media as the public face of an org and then claim a serious, debilitating psychological disorder (not just 'stress', but something right outta the DSM) because of what people say to you, you are weak. If you like to style yourself some strong, independent, bad-ass feminist out to take down Teh Patreearky(tm) but go bedridden for months because someone called you "cunt" over the internet, you are weak. If you go out of your way to shit-stir on the internet (contacting the military/employers/etc) and get in people's faces, then wilt away when you get back a fraction of what you've put out, you are weak.

Not saying that in itself marks her as sub-human. Me personally, there are many situations where I know I'd act with a hell of a lot less bravery and fortitude than people who face those same situations every day without flinching (thinking combat zone, disaster first response, etc.). So I'm not thumping my chest as some ultra strong-willed tough guy looking down on her for failing to meet my standards. But in my opinion if you put yourself out as a would-be society changer in the social media world but get bedridden for months because of mean words on the internet, you are in fact weak, at least in that area.

Just one asshole's opinion is all. If someone proves me wrong it won't be the first time.
You're not an asshole for having those opinions. I agree with you 100%. Maybe it makes us both assholes, but I too think she is pathetically weak. And CFI is no better for bending over backward and trying to cover her ass. Eh, maybe that's what they meant by "big tent".

Okay, sorry about that last one. Way too easy.

Does that mean Peezus would have banned Hitchens? He was a Devil's Advocate against the beatification of Mother Teresa.

And, of course, a Devil's Advocate helps you to stay sharp by countering your own arguments.

Which would explain a lot about Peezus and His Horde.

How interesting, because I know a LOT of female scientists. In fact, my wife's best friend just got tenure at a different University. Nobody thinks about them in regards to their tits. It's all about scientific production.

And yet we have a criticism of science based on her inability to recognize it's very much merit based. Which, in turn, reinforces many of the criticisms of feminism and victim politics in that offense and victimization is far more contrived than actual.

http://i.imgur.com/LUvRbhZ.jpg

Ah, yes, Nerd the Moron. It, in fact, does matter to the actual conduct of the perpetrator:

Although the law doesn’t prohibit simple teasing, offhand comments, or isolated incidents that are not very serious, harassment is illegal when it is so frequent or severe that it creates a hostile or offensive work environment or when it results in an adverse employment decision (such as the victim being fired or demoted).

That shirt will never support a case for sexual harassment. Nor should it. The woman on the (loud and ugly) shirt isn't even nude.

http://i.imgur.com/pJQ5pbd.jpg

Typical SJW. Take something like a sexy, yet pretty-much fully-clothed woman on a kind-of-ugly shirt and ramp the 'stupid' to 11 by making inappropriate analogies.

The shirt, btw, was designed and made by a woman. Which just adds to the irony of the kerfuffle.

Why? Because I know a lot of scientists. Whether it's from my wife's work or my Uncle who was a Physicist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory before he became a tenured Professor at UC Davis.

This isn't hte 1950s with your Coat-and-Tie Scientists anymore. And what I see them wear is stuff like this, or worse. My wife was so bad and sloppy that I, about a decade ago, put my foot down and told she needed to dress better.

Now, if he was a banker, I could an issue. But he's not. He's a scientist. And they operate in an environment that, despite the wailing of the victim identitarians, doesn't give a fuck-all about any of that shit and is focused on the work you do, not what's between your legs, who you fuck and/or what you wear.

For the record; I don't Hensley is "weak" for contracting twitter PRSD, because I don't think she has PTSD at all. Oh, I'm certain she has some kind of mental illness. Borderline personality disorder? Histrionic personality disorder? Narcissism? It wouldn't surprise me if it was one or a combination. I also think she's adverse to responsibility and work, but covets prestige and a fat paycheck.

Well, well, well.

For all the Hordelets' screeching about the 'dudebro' scientist flaunting his patriarchy everywhere (and prolly being a bit rapey with it, too), with that shirt standing as rape kulchuh made manifest, seems the truth of the matter is a little more...nuanced. As one would expect, when it comes to Peezus' disciples.

Given that the designer of the shirt has herself come forward: https://twitter.com/ellypriZeMaN - I took the oppo to ask a few questions. As you can see from her Twitter feed, the shirt was:

1. A birthday gift for Matt.
2. She had sewn a label inside bearing a personal message.
3. She made the shirt because it was part of her hobby, not a business.

Now, it may indeed be that Matt might have worn that shirt cos he's a total dudester with a leopardprint and neon upholstered caravan bearing the sign, 'If you see me rockin, don't come a knockin!' Or it could be that he wore the shirt on an international broadcast as a thankyou to this female artist who had put a lot of work into a gift he appreciated. And who knows, perhaps he also figured that the inevitable exposure might mean this female artist could receive a lot of interest in her work, maybe even to the point of eventually making a few shekels out of it.

Course, any lurking Pharyngulite who may be guiltily veering to the latter likelihood will no doubt be harbouring dark thoughts of the 'internalised misogyny, chill girl' kind. That's up to you, of course, but I'd suggest not giving her too much shit about it; her twitter makes clear that the attention has been a bit overwhelming, and given how opposed you lot are to harassment of women on the internet, you'll probably appreciate that it's best to not give her any grief on the matter - right?

After all. This:
- should be the last word on the matter of Matt's loud shirt. So let it go, baboons. Let it go.

He was brilliant! He was a second-rate painter that could, in 30-minutes, convince you that you could learn to paint something like this:

http://www.brightonco.gov/ImageReposito ... entID=2673

He was one of the most popular TV shows on PBS and had millions of viewers, which rivaled top prime-time shows. He also built a hell of an empire selling videos, how-to-books, paints, painting supplies, etc.

He died of lymphoma in his early 50s.

PZ’s posted before about the rate of rape and sexual assault in field schools and fieldwork. That shit doesn’t come out of nowhere. Most men who wear those kinds of shirts aren’t feminists who have a blind spot. Pattern recognition.
Now it begins. This time tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised if Nerd was outright calling him a proven rapist.
I think we can now formulate the First Law of FTB:

Any thread involving the ostensible wrongdoing of any nature perpetrated by a man inevitably leads to a rape accusation.

Shall we call it the law of Tigzy-Feathers? We could become famous.

Devil's advocate is not just a term that refers to someone who is raising a counter-argument. It refers to someone who is actually advocating on behalf of the (metaphorical) devil.

Sounds like a Seinfeld / Pirate Shirt situation -

Update:
"The man filmed slapping a woman in an early-morning NYC subway brawl has been cleared of all charges.

Pena, who is the tall man in the 8-ball jacket, responded with an open-handed slap that sparked a brawl in the train car. Pena initially faced misdemeanor assault charges and spent four nights in jail. He was released on $1,000 bail Tuesday, his lawyer, Cary London, told the New York Post. Police confirmed the charges against Pena were dropped, the paper reported.

Authorities determined that Pena acted in self defense after an allegedly drunk woman, Danay Howard, hit him with her stiletto, according to Gothamist. Howard was determined to be the aggressor, and is charged with felony assault and disorderly conduct."

I recognize Kinkade's work. He's another one that got into the 'business' of painting instead of 'suffering for art.' He died a few years ago and I read something about some nasty personal and/or business dispute that went on after his death. Don't remember the details but it was tawdry.

How does someone that big wipe themselves after using the toilet? Or wash themselves in the shower? There must be lots of surface area that they can't even reach with their hands or washcloth.

I just grossed myself out trying to figure that one out. Hopefully they at least use a sponge with a long handle.
