I also think the JREF, and in particular DJ Grothe will be in trouble, for allowing sexual assaults to occur on their watch at TAM.
They pretty much hate Grothe to begin with don't they?
I would imagine since the larger pain in the asses have abandoned TAM already their effect should be minimal.
As long as Randi is still the standard bearer, the JREF should be fine. When he does pass( hopefully many, many years from now) Many of the more popular draws will still do TAM out of loyaly and memory of him.
TAM made the smarter of all possible moves. They bit the bullet early. Now their damage was short, sweet and they can continue to grow. Where as CFI tried to play their game and it keeps on grinding them down more & more. Had Ron Lindsey bit the bullet at the first Women in Secularism conference, he would have been far better off.
Yes, the SJW's overreached when they went after Harriet Hall. Her T-shirt had nothing offensive, unless you were looking to be offended.Although the idea that her shirt reduced some to tears, does bring a bit of a smile to my face.
I wouldn't want to be stuck in a foxhole with any of them.(SJW's)

I've had a quick scan of the medical literature and I can't find much that supports marijuana in cancer treatment. It has been shown to have positive effects in managing chronic pain - although in other conditions, not usually in cancer - but it doesn't seem to be that effective in treatment of chemotherapeutic associated nausea, at least compared to alternatives.

The best outcome of this whole saga may actually be the destruction of CFI as an organization.
The way it was set up/funded made it vunerable to SJW manipulation and it shows in the way they responded to Melody Hensleys disastrous role in their organization.
As you suggest, JREF has tackled them much earlier (although they have invited Stollznow to present at TAM this year - that's going to be interesting!)
I think the funding situation is different for the JREF. I think they get a lot of their money from the TAM events and these are much less vunerable to SJW threats.
When SJWs threaten to boycott TAM, it becomes more attractive to the rest of the community.

Actually the medical marijuana research is based on correlation without causation. The marijuana does nothing for pain, or cancer. The Doritos, however, are a miracle cure.
Best of outcomes to you and your mom, Mary.

Given the performance of the CFI Allstars recently, it might actually do the "movement" (steady, Lsuoma) some good to lose them altogether.
It's ridiculous that this personal tiff has been elevated into the Schism Meme of the Week but, as Frankie says, when two tribes go to war...
Radford sounds shot of the whole thing already and he has no good options left - at least not if he wants to be seen as the "good guy". The least worst outcome for him is to win the case and get huge damages - they'll all hate him, but at least he pays the bills. Judging from his emails to Baxter (who may or may not ever have been given authority to act for KS), he hasn't got the stomach for a long, expensive legal battle. It was always going to be one - KS gives no sign that she was ever going to sign that retraction, and Radford's early release blunder was a gift. The e-begging was always going to happen, it's what they do.
And it helps to make Tiff-gate into today's Skeptic Agony, so there's that.

Seriously? You can't tell the difference between
A) AA calling in the press and then putting together a legal team to have state laws changed because one time out of a dozen someone at a bank was a jerk to them AND they still got served in a timely fashion
versus
B) Writing a comment online to a relatively small group of people that some dumbass they all sort of know felt your tweet was worthy of a block.
Well tell me more about how these are the same or I am worse and I'll read it tomorrow when I wake up.

Irrelevant. I go to my bank expecting the employees to treat me with professional courtesy unless I'm being unreasonable. I do not regard the nature of the political or religious affiliation of my account to count as unreasonable behaviour. If an employee mucks me about and then finds someone else to deal with me then it's not the people at the bank who are a problem provided they reprimand their unprofessional employee. If they don't do that and just facilitate his or her behaviour, then the people at the bank are mucking me about.
If it's the policy of the bank to have their employees arbitrarily serve customers based on their foibles then I wouldn't use that bank anymore, and if it's not the bank's policy I would want them to take action against a rogue employee behaving in such a manner so as to give the impression that the bank allow such a thing.
And if I was a part of an advocacy group with a platform against such bigotry I'd certainly make note of it.

You don't understand. A Twitter feed or a Facebook feed? That's private property. You have no right to take those tweets and to put them on another site without the writer's consent. This repeating-exactly-what-I've-said trend among the neckbeards? It is worse than rape threats.
You have to understand that a person's Twitter feed is their safe space. No one has the right to make it unsafe.

For anyone who cares to read it, here is the press release from AA on the Notary issue. I think it is quite good. They are only asking for an apology. What they are getting are lies from Bank Management. As I have said before. This is why I give them money. They do get some media attention. The “worst case†scenario in terms of what happens with your money is that Radford drops the suit, and it goes to sexual assault victim advocacy instead.
Wouldn't the "worst case scenario" for these idiots be "Radford wins his suit, Stollznow is forced to apologize and hand over whatever cash she has left"?
It's funny how they seem to ignore the fact that Radford was perfectly willing to take this to court in the first place. I guess the SJL is expecting him to fold now that Stollznow has managed to beg the funds for a lawyer?

Hmm...I'm a little surprised that I don't see any SJW hoping that "sexual assault" never happened in the first place. Shouldn't THAT be their hope?

I think the Stolznow/Radord thing is only a schism meme to the baboons because it represents women as victims of a patriarchal atheist movement. Personally I don't care. I don't know S/R. I don't know what happened between them, so I don't know which persons court victory would result in justice. I know whatever the outcome; the crowing from the baboons will be deafening.
I wouldn't mind CFI disbanding, if just to get rid of Hensley. It's probably the only way they can. The fun part is Melody will likely never find meaningful work again. All any potential employer has to do is google her to know she's a drama whoring-shit stirring-nightmare. Lindsay and the others will probably do just fine.

I'm no SJW, but I'd rather there weren't sexual assaults. Why would I waste my time "hoping" they didn't occur? They do occur. Given that they do occur the one under discussion may have occurred. Clearly arguing about it online just entrenches the two sides, so get the parties concerned in front of a judge.

I like to picture PZ with bucket and scrub brush removing the offending entry's .
If Pariahgula is now " a party he would wish to attend" perhaps he shouldn't pass out so early.
PS PZ he second storied the toilet too.

Remember when AA was going after the 9/11 cross? Do you remember when Silverman went on O'Reilly to talk about this? Do you remember what meme was started during that interview? "The tides go in, the tides go out". So, to me, backlash is something to consider but don't let it always outweigh potential unforeseen benefits.
And I am speaking to the general you. And more specifically to the atheist butter you. The "I'm an atheist but..." people.

Silverman has been showing up on Fox News quite a bit too. He is on their "religion panel" with a crazy Rabbi and that Catholic nut Donohue. He holds his own with those guys and I think bit by bit he gets a few good points in. Hey, it is better than having no voice of atheism at all. I think Fox is interested in having a somewhat controversial panel, so Silverman gets a seat.

Nothing boring about it. The whole world is a patriarchal, sexist, misogynistic, rapey, racist mess. They're the self=appointed defenders of all that is right and decent.
Hmmm, isn't there a word for that?

Morning Pytters, I am just popping in because I thought you all might have something to say about the Retractiongate. And you do!
What a clusterfuck. I don't know who is guilty here, but all I know is one of those two people, and possibly both, is a giant douchebag. There's no reading of the situation where they are both acting in good faith and genuinely mistaken. Someone is a cunt. Human psychology is fascinating, isn't it?

I still think it is quite possible both parties think they are correct. They entered a personal negotiation phase which broke down. Now they may or may not continue through a civil legal process. It is really interesting to watch.
1) She may really think she was harassed and her employer didn't take appropriate action (or she had too little evidence to prove it)
2) He may think he was having a normal interaction with her and now she is claiming harassment
Once she brought this up publicly he felt he had been wronged and needed to restore his reputation. Once he sued her she was compelled to fight back to maintain her story and prove her honesty. It all makes perfect sense really.
This scenario still fits within the context of the communication we have seen.

My only issue is with the whole "sued into silence" cries from the peanut gallery. Just because libel lawsuits ARE often used to silence unpopular opinions, there's no reason to think this suit was filed in bad faith. I mean, it may have been, there's only one person who knows that for sure. The point is, casting aspersions without evidence is just as shitty and fucked up as filing a lawsuit just to shut someone up. But, you know, PATRIACHY!
