Well “[PERSONAL, REDACTED]†is outed here by Maxwell Smart without as much as a whimper, so you have to wonder how much of a big deal it is. http://heathen-hub.com/blog.php?bt=9266
Steersman is there whining about being banned here so not able to join in. I’ve not bothered commenting over there as Tim Skellet randomly deletes comments with no warning or reason. I assume I’m banned but who knows. Now for years of obsessing over Tim and the “Free from thought†Hub for their terrible censorship… Not.

When you don't live in reality, you get posts like that. If someone says something you disagree with, not only are they wrong, they are actively abusing you and you are no longer responsible for your actions towards them. It's too stupid for words, which is the main reason they ban so many people from their blogs. It's a theme common with mentally ill people and criminals - when your remove responsibility from your life, you have to figure out ways to blame others for your own behavior. When everything you do is someone else's fault, it's tough to learn from your actions.Dick Strawkins wrote:There's a strangely ironic case of conformational bias going on with Svans blog at the moment.

But everyone who has paid attention to her and Ophelia will already know that 'harrasers' is taken to mean anyone who contributes a 'microaggression' towards the online opposition they are facing.
Meaning, essentially, anyone who criticizes them, disagrees with them, offers a reasoned point of view that isn't in line with their thinking, or anyone who paints their opponents in a shade of grey rather than the blackest shade of Satans heart.
In other words, anyone who disagrees with her is liable for doxxing!

I've been toying with the idea of having a SlimePit Party at my place in the future (like late summer). Currently, I'm still stuck in red tape revolving around my retirement. Once that's over (hopefully no longer than another month or two), I'll be in a celebrating mood. I'm considering a coffee party for Pitters in or near Toronto.

hehe, good on Mykeru, I didn't see the whole argument, was it about the goatse? Mykeru is as funny as a mad fuck on LSD, and I laughed my ass off at the goatse. Sure, images like that are disturbing, but so fucking what? Yeah, and you know what's really funny? I didn't post the Goatse. At this point in The Slymepit I guess the only thing to do is lay back and watch the "you fat-shaming, goatse-posting" bullshit narrative formation that would make even the most Kool-Aid bloated Baboon fuckwit proud. The alternative is to expect people to pay fucking attention and not stray from what I actually said and did, but I guess that's too much like harshing people's buzz.treestump wrote:hehe, good on Mykeru, I didn't see the whole argument, was it about the goatse? Looks like it's a wider problem than that:
And PZ even has his own cluster!:Cluster B (dramatic, emotional or erratic disorders)
Not to be confused with Type B personality.
Antisocial personality disorder: a pervasive disregard for the rights of others, lack of empathy, and (generally) a pattern of regular criminal activity.
Borderline personality disorder: extreme "black and white" thinking, instability in relationships, self-image, identity and behavior often leading to self-harm and impulsivity.
Histrionic personality disorder: pervasive attention-seeking behavior including inappropriately seductive behavior and shallow or exaggerated emotions.
Narcissistic personality disorder: a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and a lack of empathy. Characterized by self-importance, preoccupations with fantasies, belief that they are special, including a sense of entitlement and a need for excessive admiration, and extreme levels of jealousy and arrogance.
Impressive. Most impressive.Cluster A (odd or eccentric disorders)
Not to be confused with Type A personality.
Paranoid personality disorder: characterized by irrational suspicions and mistrust of others.
Schizoid personality disorder: lack of interest in social relationships, seeing no point in sharing time with others, anhedonia, introspection.
Schizotypal personality disorder: characterized by odd behavior or thinking.

yeah, I didn't even think you had. I thought it was someone else, but this does seem to be all about the ever-popular-and-never-endingly-mind-numbing "offence-debate". What is offensive? What is not offensive? Am I offending the Jews at the next table by eating a bacon sandwich (and should I tell them to "fuck off" if they tell me they are "offended")? What the fuck has happened to our society that every discussion seems to come down to "I am offended at that!!"? I dunno what's fueling it but "offence" has become a very very unhealthy-obsession-bordering-on-personality-disorder of late.Mykeru wrote:Yeah, and you know what's really funny? It's a tap! She pretents to explore the topic from a neutral ground, and that good reasons guide her way. But her "mask" metaphor we swallow already with the headline turns out to be a ploy to draw connections between pseudonyms and heinous crimes. A couple of smoke grenades disguised as positive aspects of "masks" hide her trickery for a moment. Thereby she "gets them out of the way" so that she can prod the reader towards the negative conclusions.
In the middle she introduces serial killers. You couldn't make this up. As a reminder, serial killers get their pseudonym after they make a kill. Therefore she equates writing under a pseudonym, i.e. leaving a mark, with murder. That's strong stuff. I find it hard to believe that she actually thinks this. But is a nice way to manipulate readers on an emotional level. From there she leaves a few breadcrumbs leading to the concept of the "Abuser". Now people associate "abusers" with serial killers. Nice! Apparently, grotesque Guilty By Association continues to be popular among the intellectual frauds of FreeThoughtBlogs.
The serial-killer-ish "Abusers" are stated as a matter of fact. She doesn't explain what she considers doxxing-worthy abusive behavior. But the readers can fill in the blanks by context: Skep Tickle. That's another trick. Calling this out of proportion is out of proportion. And that is just the upper half. In the lower part and subsequent comments she essentially advocates Old Testamentarian Eye-for-an-Eye morality. The actual reasons why people have pseudonyms aren't explored and she also casually compares the doxxers with authorities and crime fighting, which would be vigiliantism. Eye-for-an-Eye Vigilantism, that is. Which is almost comical, provided that she no sense of proportion at all. Stepping on her toe is probably equal losing the right hand.

Regarding the complaints that some images posted in The Pit are offensive and NSFW, I did a little "just because" check and the my web filtering is blocking the SlymePit on the grounds of "sex", apparently due to people going on about their tits and how much they appreciate good pussy.
If NSFW images are a legitimate concern, then I respectfully ask that people refrain from talk of sex, sexuality, fucking, body parts including tits, cunts, cocks, penetration, blowjobs, taking it up the ass, dildos, pocket pussies, handjobs, ejaculation, clits, wanking and the like as all that, including clinical discussions, falls under the NSFW standard around these parts.
Also, it offends me.

Although humor is important, there's an appropriate time and place for it. In light of Web filtering, we will have to abide by undefined standards requiring people to show responsible prior restraint.
In lieu of objective standards, I will be pointing out that which may be considered officer on a case by case basis. Not only should people apply their item standard to themselves, but everyone to everyone else.
Free and open discussion will continue, just with the reasonable standards of one applied to all, even if no party agreed to that arrangement.

I believe it may have attempted to have some hyperbolic and satirical aim. All that is lost as it's best not to depict pre-Civil War slavery or make allusion to it, as doing so may upset black people and make white people feel bad.

But "should probably be killed" goes a bit too far when tens of thousands tend to agree with you.

Two 70+ year old writers, one a 5 time Hugo winner, the other a frequent nominee, have a column in the monthly sfwa mag. In that column the talk about all sorts of stuff, and one column reminisced about an editor of one mag in the 40s through the 60s. This editor was apparently quite beautiful in addition to her talents as an editor, and they mentioned that, by quoting a 90 year old woman who was wife of an SF author who mentioned that when the other wives discovered how beautiful the editor was, all the wives joined the local organization too.TedDahlberg wrote:Wait, no, he couldn't possibly have written that! *goes to check* Oh, he did. This sexist, unprofessional column by two old white guys drew complaints from a couple of dyke lesbian feminazi authors and their idiot white knight mangina counterparts, there was one flounce and one who said, he's barely a member, he never reads the column or the magazine, AND THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.
There were also two covers of the mag that showed a sword and sorcery woman in a chain mail bikini.
Scalzi is busy investigating, he's famous for his bootstrappy, white men you know have it on the easiest setting, he made it on his own, every white man should man up, stop whining, and be successful like him.

During the Cold War the United States became more and more authoritarian in the fight against communism. During the Vietnam War under the program of pacification people argued you had to destroy villages to save them. Or you could go back to the cartoon character Fearless Fosdick who shot people rather than let them eat tainted beans.
So as freethought blogs unravels it's interesting to watch people in the Pit- subconsciously or otherwise - model themselves after them.
Please do go on with willful mischaractetization, whine about offense, construct ad hoc speech codes, use bullshit shaming terms, White Knight to your hearts content and let the dogpile begin.
But first y'all divest yourself of the notion that I'm your buddy or I'm on your side or whatever imagine relationship that exists only in your own head gives you license to shit talk, accuse me of things I did not say or do, or some how you get a pass.

Hey Guys(and Gals... and non-binary genderfluid elf sheriffs),
Remember the American Secular Census and its report about how terrible the secular community is for women?
They made this post with some 'anal cysts', Here.
They claimed they would release the full results when they got to 10,000 responses. Well, its now been over 6 months. And given how many people tend to fill out online polls 6 months late, I think it is pretty clear they are never going to get to their 10,000 response threshold (or did and broke their word). Either way, I think it is high time for them to release the full results of this 'census', since they are either A) not providing crucial data for a major problem regarding women's experiences within the secular community, or B) prematurely posted 'analysis' for a reaction, rather than waiting for the sample size to reach a reasonable level.
Unforunately, you need to log in via facebook which I do not have to post. But I would like to push these folks to release their info after 6 months have gone by.
