I guess I just have PTSD from long, boring, pointless conversations about how absolutely noble women are for getting their tits out and scrawling "fuck you" on them with a Sharpie.

who said anything about being noble? The point was Amina was braver for posing nude than ReGreta was. that's it.

Nah, that's lame. Let's have a "whose the better inert house-bound asshole typing on the internet" discussion.
I do hate to tell you this Mykeru, but an aversion to natural breasts, more excited over guns than sex, and bragging about how tough you are is so stereotypically Merkin, you could be satire.
I don't get excited over guns. But thanks for the stereotype. I get more excited over hydration packs, or learning a new knot, or getting a $300 Gogo LE bivy tent on e-Bay for half the price.

Mostly the problem with breasts is what they are attached to.

And I can't remember the last time I bragged about how tough I am, but don't let that get in the way of boilerplate condescending horseshit.

Chocolate. Fucking awesome flick about an autistic girl who learns martial arts via watching and imitation. The end fight is amazing, especially when some dude doing drunken monkey style starts kicking her ass until she picks up on it. No wire work that I could see, amazing choreography. Abbie turned me on to it.

2009, but I recommend Symbol, from Japan

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1410261/

It's a REALLY hard movie to describe. The closest thing I can think of is a living Rube Goldberg machine...and then the whole thing is at another level at the end. It's seriously fucked up...but it's worth it.

It's a misogynistic message and most men, I presume, would not want women they care about (mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, the women who post here) to have to hear other mens' assessment of their fuckability (especially if it's demeaning)-- I'm not trying to get anyone to stop-- but I would hope those that show vomiting next to Greta's picture, those that call Ophelia pruney or cobweb cunt, or those who make comments about Jennifer having a horse face consider what they would think of people who did those sorts of things to the women on this forum or woman online. Really-- what would you think of such people? What would you think of those who hung around and applauded such people? If it wouldn't think of them as being misogynistic and/or loathsome... then carry on. For the record, I didn't like the Clarence man-boob stuff either-- and the other stuff I didn't know about. But it is different, because we don't live in a world where men's value is assessed by their fuckability-- and Clarence willingly put his picture up here.

I don't think Justin Vacula is misogynistic at all-- nor most of the people who post here, but I DO think those kinds of things are misogynistic and I can understand why many people don't want to be around do the stuff mentioned above. I think it's unfair that Justin and others are smeared because of their association with those who do that stuff. The goatse stuff is just childish. I'd save it for 4Chan. And I think people are bit too privileged if their biggest worry in life is silly photoshop stuff. I'd just ask people not to do the kind of stuff that would make them think "misogyny" if it was done by the other side to a woman from the slymepit. Even though it's unfair, the stuff I mentioned above can give the appearance that the slymepit is fine with misogyny.
So Clarence's man-tits being mocked is OK coz he's:
A) A bloke
and he
B) Put his picture on the internet so should expect that shit.

I think you'll find the A+ Forum is that way------>
Women don't get a free pass simply for being women. If somebody wants to mock a female Pitter for their personal appearance so fuck? Give as good as you get.

Can anybody change their intelligence or personality? Not as easily as they can lose weight but that doesn't stop insults like "stupid fuck" and "idiot" being bandied around by both sides does it?

And I suppose the image of Greta sprang from the ground and installed it onto the web of it's own accord did it? No, you fucking knob. Greta "willingly" uploaded it to the internet for the very same reason people link to goatse. To shock people. In Greta's case she was shocking religiotards who have never seen a pair of tits before.
Minor correction: Greta did it because she's an exhibitionist and she gets off on displaying herself. The protest was merely a convenient excuse.

I seem to be a perverse type of person, so when I scored a C in the aptitude test for programmers, I naturally taught myself COBOL and PLAN (ICL version of Assembler, very limited too) and every other language and variant I came across afterwards.

So that is really all there is to it. I have never been, not even once, a good programmer. My aptitude meant that I had to work three times harder than those who did. I could and did produce solid code eventually, but there was a cost in time and effort.

What I did discover was that I was a not bad generalist and problem solver and just a teansy bit of a hacker. I kept solving systems software problems and eventually the real Systems Programmers offered me a job doing it legit.

If you really wanted someone to stitch together interfaces, solve immediate issues and you had no expertise in-house to do it, it was worth your while to give it to me, because I could usually solve it despite having absolutely no prior exposure with any of the systems, subsystems, languages, compilers, interfaces, applications etc. etc.

These days I am no longer interested in opening the bonnet and tinkering with, or even inspecting the works underneath much. I just want it to work, and I am only going to do that if it does not.

Metalogic, the reason is that Mykeru has become what he loathes. This is someone who, 2 days ago, was pontificating on the air about "having ideas challenged" and chastising the baboons for killing skepticism through shutting down dialogue.

This is the mild disagreement (in fact, a mere and mild exchange of views) I had with him, upon which he unfollowed me. When I pointed out the above, he blocked me as well.

Hopefully, this is a temporary bout of baboonitis from which he will recover when he runs out of meth.

Yeah, that's pretty damned courageous. And it should be supported by us in the West. If I recall correctly, the calendar in question was in support of an Egyptian woman who posted nude protest pictures of herself.

I don't care whether it's easy for Greta C to get naked, or whether she gets off on getting naked. It was a show of solidarity, 'nuf 'ced. Forget that it was Greta who posed -- be glad that a few women did show support. Please do slam Greta for all the horrendous bullshit she writes, but not for perhaps the one impactful thing she's done. Attack, mock her for this, and you discourage everyone from doing it.

Usually, I skip over the flame wars but, a while back it looked like we were finally going to see my dream matchup here on the Pit. Mykeru and Cunt appeared to be squaring off. Suddenly, I was paying attention.
This was it. This was Hagler vs. Hearns, re-born. This, was going to be one for the ages.

It turned out to be more like Ted Haggard versus Marcus Bachmann.

And now, it's as if one of them suddenly leapt over the ropes, plunged into the Caesar's Palace crowd, and started swinging wildly at whoever came within reach.

Whichever one of you is playing Don King in this whole scenario, blow me.

If that was directed to me, I did not attack, nor mock her. I simply said it was not brave. I have no issue with nudity and if one is an exhibitionist and can "exhibit" for a good cause, I'm all for that. The universe knows how many times I've posed nude (for a variety of reasons - even for art students). I'm not one to throw stones.

The Lives of Others and The Return are two of my favourites
I liked Four Minutes, but not as much as you. The others I have not seen - thank you.

I very rarely go to other threads here, but this (recommended films) should probably have it's own - The titles will be a lot easier to find for others as well. I can recommend quite a few myself.

I confess i haven't followed the "raging sexism in SF/F community" thing (if it exists), but reading Resnick and Malzberg's piece I couldn't help thinking they make more sense, on the surface, than their opposition is making. They even finish by humorously predicting how they're going to be reflexively taken (old,, white, etc.) I don't entirely appreciate the "liberal fascist" thing, being liberal myself, but I don't think they really mean it in a Jonah Goldberg way, more like the Andrea Dworkin way, and yeah, that type of person is "fascist," in the Godwin spirit of the word.

I don't really see how bare women as cover art is sexist, any more than bare chested Conan types are sexist against men. I've probably passed a thousand SF/F or romance Conan-type covers without once thinking they had any relevance to serious sexual objectification at all. Sure, bare warrior woman or male Conan-types objectify. That's kind of the whole point of these covers, but really who gives a shit?

Oh, yeah, the SJWs do. It's this kind of shit that makes me start to seriously question whether this is some new wave of puritanism.

Peezus doesn't see himself as a safely tenured 'old white guy'.
In his mind he sees this:

Haha. On another note, I'm reading through that interview, and it's great, their point about Conan and guys on romance novels is spot-on. I also love how that SL Huang guy just says "L-look for yourselves! I-It has logical fallacies everywhere! HONEST!" instead of making any actual arguments. Didn't Richard Carrier love to do that?

Bullshit. As soon as you realize that the what makes a man "fuckable" is quite different from what makes a woman "fuckable", you also realize that men are valued by society just as much by their "fuckability" as women are. If insults like about "horse faces" are misogyny, then insults about "neckbeards", "virgins" and "losers living in their moms basement" are misandry.

Personally, I don't think either are misogyny/misandry, but I still try to avoid using them as insults, since they hardly add much to any argument. However, I note that the people who scream "MISOGYNY!!!" at the thought of criticizing someone for their looks usually have no problems whatsoever with insults that alludes to how "unfuckable" and worthless a man is. This is the sort of typical SJW hypocrisy I'm getting really tried off, and it's not all that different from the thinly veiled sexism in your* few posts.

You keep going on about people insulting either the women of the 'pit or insulting our mothers, sister, daughters, etc. Why would I care more about someone insulting Abbie or my sister than I'd care about someone insulting Welch or my brother? All of them are adult individuals that I assume are more than capable of dealing with some crude insults on their own. Why are you so focused on their gender? Because women are delicate and weak potential victims that the strong men need to always protect?

Oh, and btw, as for the picture of Greta, I don't see anything there to laugh at, she just looks like a normal older naked woman. Big deal?

Essential for good sex?

I'll have to tell that to my gay male friends.

BTW, giant cock? great at cunnilingus?

I think I've found Taslimas ideal man.

Where exactly are you making the connection between Taslima's tweets and your 'joke' about her needing to be washed?

I really don't see the link.
Any woman could have made a tweet suggesting that she liked cunnilingus. OK it might, like her previous remarks about loving huge cocks, be TMI, but it doesn't suggest anything to do with her personal hygiene as you've suggested with your jokes.

There's a strangely ironic case of conformational bias going on with Svans blog at the moment.
She poses a question of whether people think it is ethical to doxx people on the internet - but frames it in such a way that those who are liable to be doxxed are termed 'harrassers'.
But everyone who has paid attention to her and Ophelia will already know that 'harrasers' is taken to mean anyone who contributes a 'microaggression' towards the online opposition they are facing.

Meaning, essentially, anyone who criticizes them, disagrees with them, offers a reasoned point of view that isn't in line with their thinking, or anyone who paints their opponents in a shade of grey rather than the blackest shade of Satans heart.

In other words, anyone who disagrees with her is liable for doxxing!

Strangely enough, everyone who comments agrees with her!

When she stops being such a hypocritical jerk, I'll think about changing how I talk about her.

Her arguments are full of holes. They use terms such as 'social punishment' without realising those sorts of words have been spoken before and for the same purpose for many years. Destroy the 'enemy' at any cost. They send a chill up my spine.

As someone stated earlier they are so Puritanical they can't see the gross hypocrisy and of their words and actions. After all, the tortures of the inquisition were for the benefit if the sufferer right?

With the right mindset anything can be justified.

Good people do good things
Bad people do bad things
It takes extreme dogmatism for good people to do bad things.

If I still lived in the GTA I would definitely have sent you a PM long before now.
I'd invite you over for a cup of coffee!

I've been toying with the idea of having a SlimePit Party at my place in the future (like late summer). Currently, I'm still stuck in red tape revolving around my retirement. Once that's over (hopefully no longer than another month or two), I'll be in a celebrating mood. I'm considering a coffee party for Pitters in or near Toronto.

no, just recent. I'll look for it now, thank you. other recommendations welcome.
Seven Psycopaths. Set in the US but is British, so borderland case maybe. Still, very good, and not quite what one would expect from the title.

If that's too much US; Troll Hunter, Norwegian horror/comedy (not too heavy on the comedy) drawing on Nordic folklore.

Sorry, Strawkins, The Pit is currently far too busy protecting the worst of the Freethought Bullies from being made to feel bad for using the Atheist movement as a thin excuse to shove her Play-Doh titted and sink-hole muffed physique into our fucking eyeballs, discussions of how women can change the world if more of them would turn their malformed tits out like a couple Sharpie-scribbled oranges in a sack, as well as individual posters making sure that some minimal focus is turned on their past-expiration between-the-thigh clam-sauce generators and devil-may-care "like to fuck and don't care who knows it" attitude.

As soon as everyone exhausts the inexhaustible supply of "I like me some tits and cunt and cock" discussions and jerks themselves off into a state of repose for 15 minutes, we can waste some time with your low-priority shit concerning Freethought Blogs working overtime to fuck up people's lives.
