Mother Charged With Fatal Poisoning of 5-Year-Old Boy: Lacey Spears Is Accused of Intentionally Giving Her Son High Levels of Sodium
http://tinyurl.com/mxjtl9e
So this woman spent about five years torturing her son while sucking down all kinds of accolades, on Facebook and other social media, for being a great mom with a terrible burden. Which, of course, she wasn't.

Now as an adult, I find the in-depth story ( http://tinyurl.com/mcy7e6k ) to be horrifying and is the kind of story that, being older, wiser and sucked in by a Borderline, rings my alarm bells if I hear/read about it because in some respects it's 'too good' (ie unusal) to be true. BTW, I'm not saying she's borderline, I think the assertion of Munchausen by Proxy makes a ton more sense. So, to me, this a crazy person doing crazy person things.

Which brings it back to Rodgers in that a crazy person does crazy things. Yet we have people who can't accept someone like Rodgers is crazy and did crazy things because of being crazy. That anything he did was just whatever his crazy latched onto rather than some societal illness. And I can accept that for this woman, as well.

But I wonder what the SJWs would make of this if I put it in 'YesAllWomen." I'd hate to poison my twitter account because it's work related. But some part of me wants to point out that crazy is crazy and you really can't blame an entire gender, or society, for the crazy acts of a crazy person because to do so is irrational. Which, to me, is one of the ultimate failures of the Social Justice Warriors.

Not that they don't have some valid points. But that they, in their irrationality, take minor issues that contain valid points to absurd levels. I think you'd have to be a complete fuckwit to think that one crazy woman represents all of society and women. Yet that is the 'virtual necklacing' men face because of Rodgers.

http://media.brainz.org/uploads/2009/10/Necklacing.jpg
Commonly practiced in South Africa, Necklacing is unfortunately still quite common today. Necklacing consists of a rubber tire, filled with gasoline, being forced around the victim's chest and arms, and then being set on fire. Necklacing essentially causes the body to be turned into a melted mess, which is why it comes in at number 10 on our list.
Anyway, I doubt this cause will be taken up by the SJWs unless they're able to, somehow, blame white men for it. Inconvenient facts that women and men are more alike in 'bad behaviors' than different just doesn't play well with their "Women Are Wonderful, but Victims" world view.

PZ Myers describes himself as “a godless liberal biologist”. He is associate professor of biology at the University of Minnesota Morris, currently working with zebrafish in the field of evolutionary developmental biology.

More like: currently working with fish bought in the local pet shop for some small-time student project. Hasn't published a peer reviewed scientific paper for over a decade. Still manages to get invited as the token scientist to a Humanist conference in Oxford because those humanists are money-squandering idiots who don't do their homework.

These narcissistic fucks seem to think clothing manufacturers exist to serve them, rather than to make a profit. The market for plus-size exercise apparel is, unsurprisingly, miniscule. Not worth the investment. While we're at it, software companies should be required by law to always release a mac OS version of every title.

http://31.media.tumblr.com/84cd66f5df09 ... o1_500.png

I have a 240 lb weight limit for riders, mandated by my liability insurance. Never needed to, but I'd have no hesitation pulling out the bathroom scale I keep in the tack room.

Once had a 300 lb woman in her late 40s take lessons. We told her they'd be ground lessons only until she lost sufficient weight. She leased a horse from us to play with for a while until she found another trainer who'd let her ride.

Also had a 275 lb, 23 yo student with her own draft horse. She rode well, but her Easter ham thighs prevented her from finding the proper position in the saddle. Held her hands too high, because her gut was in the way. Could not execute a one-rein halt for the same reason. And she was in no condition to handle her 1 ton behemoth on the ground. Plus, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

Getting a draft horse so you can ride while morbidly obese is not a viable solution, yet it's common. It's not just rider:horse weight ratio. For the horse to carry you without excess strain, you must be a quiet, balanced rider. Most of the "big, beautiful riders" I've encountered are simply not athletic enough to be adequate riders. Even that young gal was easy to unseat, as I demonstrated to her once in a lesson (almost -- I just caused her to lose her balance & flail about.) My underwriter is understandably concerned about the rider injuries. I pity the horses.

Indeed - seems that many of them react according to preprogrammed dogma rather than giving any critical thought to what is presented - formulaic in the extreme, the classic Orwellian "Four legs good, two legs bad".
Dawkins could tweet "Went for a lovely stroll today" and the SJWs would find a way to take offense. He's learned how to troll them, and it's great!

If you think about it the whole "Die cis scum" thing is madness.
A small minority of hateful bigots demonises and wishes death upon a large section of the population solely because they don't agree with the circumstances of their birth and we're supposed to let them off because it's 'obviously' a joke? Fuck that shit.

Even more formulaic still when you remember it was originally reversed as the HGWellian "Two legs good, four legs bad" (The Island of Dr Moreau, 1896). But everything comes around again, as Squealer modified it again into "Four legs good, two legs better". I think the point is that you have to believe whatever it is fashionable to believe and memory-hole (G.O. again) the past.

Debunks Sarkeesian and other video game moralizers.
I'm not sure I understand this study. Why did they ask the participants to think of events from the past that did or did not induce guilt? Didn't they poison their own study by putting the idea of guilt in the gamers' heads before they even sat down to play?

That said, it's fully possible I'm just misunderstanding what's going on here; I don't read about scientific studies often. But the inclusion of asking the participants about guilt confuses me. Why didn't they just have them play the games (or not) and then take the diagnostics?

Here's what happens when one watches 1984 and then reads the pure crap put out by Natalie Reed:

Finally looked them up on wikipedia. NOW I remember them. Yeah. they were a classic punk band. 1-2 songs, and done.

And Reed is such an ultra-poser. Really Nat?

Bet she's got a Poly t-shirt that she bought at hot topic.

Just the fact you are observing the Ramadan fasting makes you already cray cray.
I assume you also flagellate yourself with chains on Ashura too.

Ophie's just jealous because Natalie can actually string together more than 140 characters of her own writing.

I find it interesting that Ofie criticizes others for not using lots of words...especially after I just found this spreadsheet about how she doesn't use many of her own words on her blog.

I get so tired of these people. If something/someone is world-famous and liked by millions, liking them yourself makes you a poser who lies in order to make yourself look... educated and cultured?

However, if you like lesser-known things/people, everyone will think you're all cool and shit.

Natalie Reed has just described hipster douchebaggery in a nut shell.
Hehe, yep.

Of course, there are posers from all walks of life who pretend to like things in order to make themselves seem educated and cultured (or "all cool and shit"). But they're clearly cut from the same cloth as Natalie Reed, for whom aesthetic preferences are apparently a good indicator of a person's character.

Note that Dawkins seems to have limited his #CosmicTombstone nominees to people whose work he's actually familiar with. He's a well-educated Briton, and he chose Shakespeare. Not Du Fu, not Li Bai. Not even Cervantes, for that matter.

Shakespeare.

And I know he's written about his love of classical music elsewhere, at least in passing (IIRC he mentions Bach's St. Matthew Passion somewhere in The God Delusion).

Natalie Reed's implication that Dawkins picked Shakespeare and Schubert to "sound cultured" isn't just obnoxious and uncharitable—it's based on no evidence whatsoever.

Also, would the SJWs have preferred it if Dawkins had lied about his preferences? or if he'd appropriated chosen non-Westerners whose output he's had little or no exposure to, all in the name of tokenism diversity?

That was exactly my issue with her verbal vomit. He specifically said "for me" indicating personal preference. It was exactly as if Reed wanted Dawkins to just lie and put out token PoC artists that he knew practically nothing about.

All I am getting out of this is that she is pissed off that men can pay for sex.

So can women:
A gigolo is a male escort or social companion who is supported by a woman in a continuing relationship,[1] often living in her residence or having to be present at her beck and call. The gigolo is expected to provide companionship, to serve as a consistent escort with good manners and social skills, and often, to serve as a dancing partner as required by the woman in exchange for the support (which is contrary to typical norms). Many gifts such as expensive clothing and an automobile to drive may be lavished upon him. The relationship may include sexual services as well, when he also would be referred to as "a kept man".[2]

Dawkins says his favorites, and Natalie Reed accuses him of being a white supremacist who lied in order to make himself sound cultured.

If Dawkins had said his favorite artist was a black Jewish crippled lesbian feminist from a refugee camp in Botswana, Natalie Reed would have accused him of cultural appropriation and lying in order to make himself sound progressive.

Too late Dawkins! Natalie knows you're a rich privileged old white cis-dudebro who loves it when women get asked for coffee on elevators!

You CAN'T WIN!!!

Actually, to be a proper sonnet, one must keep the proper rhythm, meter, and scansion, to wit:
rhythm: the pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables in a line.
meter: the number of feet in a line.
scansion: Describing the rhythms of poetry by dividing the lines into feet, marking the locations of stressed and unstressed syllables, and counting the syllables.
And so, dear Ophie (and Myers, Zvan, Thimbledick, Reed, et al.):

I'll not compare thee to a summer’s day.
Thou art less lovely; more intemperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is xis gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair oft-times declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimmed;
But thy eternal rot shall never fade,
Nor lose possession of that foul thou grow’st,
Yeah shall death brag thou wand’rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to Time thou fade.
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, which gives no life to thee.

LOL Yeah, nah. I do have an affinity for limericks:

Delusional

There once was a nutter quite frightful
Who spent so much time being spiteful
When confronted with truth
Completely debunking her sleuth
She barreled into delusions most delightful!

A Less Fictitious Life

There once was a gal most religious
Whose love for her god was prodigious
She looked deep inside
Found fallacies most wide
She now lives a life less fictitious

Door-to-Door Snake Oil Salesmen

(this one doesn't bounce as well as I'd like)

"Let's spread the word of the Lord!" they exclaimed
"Knocking on doors - surely none could be blamed!"
It's simply a matter of time
Up the walls we will climb
Our inevitable ire will thus be inflamed

Raptureless

Oh, there once was a man most pious
Who felt his predictions had no bias
Of rapture he spouted
While the world simply doubted
He simply ensnared the more gullible of us

Somehow I don't think a single one of these would make it to the #CosmicTombstone :D

The degree of plain ordinary basic stupidity and mile-wide ignorance being expressed in the comments in Stefunny's latest anti-Dawkins post is fascinating. To wit (my emphasis), each separate quote equates to a separate person, and I didn't think links were necessary:
It took me a while to realize that Dawkins, and his friend, James Randi, are slymepitters.
No one quotes Shakespeare’s poetry.
Much as I love Shakespeare, it’s possible that Du Fu was a better poet. I wouldn’t know, because I don’t speak Chinese and am in no position to judge.
As Natalie Reed pointed out on Twitter: “Picking a SINGLE poet to represent human history is fucking hard. But don’t pick Shakespeare. Save him for the playwright category. I’m inclined to agree. I mean, did he ever write any poem that wasn’t in iambic pentameter? It’s really not the be all and end all of English poetry, much less all poetry ever.
Hornbeck's is a classic Dr. Hornbeckian modal thingy:
Wow. If Dawkins had one claim to fame over all the other “big-name” atheists that came before him, it was his “out” campaign. By encouraging atheists to stand up and be heard, at the end of “The God Delusion,” he was hoping to break through social taboos and end discrimination and the spread of misinformation against a minority that was frequently shat on. In other words, he pointed out to us that atheism was a social justice issue. So for him to turn around mock the concept of social justice, is, is…. self-mockery, really.
This list says do much about Dawkins worldview. First, why TWO scientists? Personally I’d keep Darwin and replace Einstein with MLK, Ghandi, Harriet Tubman etc.
You know what’s funny? I can’t stand Shakespeare. Yes, I’ve read him. I was always in honor and AP language arts classes because I’ve always read above my grade. I was reading to Kindergartners when I was in 1st grade, and by 2nd grade was in the 5th grade reading class. So I’ve read a good bit of Shakespeare and I frankly find him boring. I just don’t agree that he’s this “genius”. He was brilliant, yes… I actually love Hamlet. I think Hamlet is indeed a work of genius. But I’m not a fan at all. And frankly, my life will be better off if I never hear, see, or read any variation of Romeo and Juliet ever again.
I think the whole problem with the Shakespeare pick is his gross and blatant misogyny as expressed best in “The Taming of the Shrew”. Disgusting, repellent garbage. Mormons like it, though. Trivia.
