Ive had this bout of plantar fasciitis going for a few months now. Im going nuts not being able to be as active as I want, but then its not getting better because I wont stay off my goddamn feet.

So. Im ordering some Crocs. For just derping around at first, and if things start getting better, Ill get 'work' versions (closed toe, proper back heel).

As I was shopping, I was like "Crocs: Even these damn things arent as ugly, are more practical, and are a fraction of the price of those clown shoes Greta was bragging about."

I've never worn a more comfortable shoe. Have had my pair for about .. four years now? Close to that. And other than being scuffed to hell and back (because I am forever lazy) they're in perfect shape. And they keep air circulating around so your feet smell nice.

You won't regret them.

Thats because after constant complaints to FFRF the facebook group that was FFRF which was around longer on facebook then the FFRF official site was switched to a new group called Friends of FFRF and the old group was forced private and hidden.

Basically the malcontents werent happy once they found out their whines, like the one they had about vacula being a known mra were going not to the actual FFRF but to a facebook fan group. Once someone pointed that out they started whining about that instead and complain to FFRF till the admins had to change the group.. which was too big to change the name... so had to make a new group.

Shoes are definitely something to check. I had plantar faci-whatchamacall for a long while and switching to a New Balance walking shoe totally reversed it over the course of a few months. Just bad cushioning in my case, although my previous shoe *seemed* to feel just fine. But for whatever reason it was putting pressure in the wrong places. Dunno, but I'd definitely thoroughly investigate the shoe angle.

At first I thought he was FTB, but when he referred to his earlier post I got the context. I'm not going to push too hard because there's not much to push against, but his position on 'harassment' is truly absurd, IMO. Hence the 'being bothered' distinction, which I think has a lot of potential to it.

Harassment covers a wide range of behaviours of an offensive nature. It is commonly understood as behaviour intended to disturb or upset, and it is characteristically repetitive. In the legal sense, it is intentional behaviour which is found threatening or disturbing.

Seems that criticism of various public policies and statements, and individuals where they are related doesn’t qualify but that personal attacks and ad hominems do. Although that is somewhat of an impression from previous readings on the topic so I'm not quite sure where the dividing line is, but that seemed to be a salient one.

That's guaranteed. When he did his first blog post attacking the Slympit some of us pointed out he had made a big mistake. Not for getting things so horribly wrong as such but because now he will be allocated a 'side'. He gave himself no choice as for them there is no third way. Initially his 'side' was with them. Now he is an apostate and we know how they must be treated.

Either during or soon after the AI conference it will be open season on him and as they love guilt by association, the whole of AI. His only way out is the hope that as they are so UScentric and parochial they will write off Eire as irrelevant and ignore him.

The sooner people like Nugent realise they should treat these extremists the same as all extremists all over the world the easier it will be for him to grasp how to deal with them. He may well have grasped that some time ago but for them that is too late. They never forgive and they never forget.

Perhaps what the skeptic/atheist community needs is more focus on issues connected to mental health. It's sadly neglected in our wider societies, and there's lots of myths and bunk out there. I'm sure it's a fruitful area of exploration.

I am unaware of any special skills that a cat would be trained for. But there are a fair number of people who put "service dog" coats on what are called comfort animals. To the best of my research capability, "comfort" animals do not qualify for the same exemptions that permit a seeing eye dog, helper monkey or an epilepsy detector dog into all venues. But some people abuse the service dog cloak just so that they can bring their animal everywhere. Service dogs are specially skilled and trained. "Comfort dogs," shit all over the place.

And then, frequently at work I am walking all over (lab is in one building, BSL3 is in another), I walk to/from work twice a day, I *have* to at least get Arnie walkies-- I cant stay off my feet enough to really rest it. Ugh.

Good shoes and support inserts (I like New Balance) help with plantar fasciitis, and here's an inexpensive short-term treatment:

1. Fill an empty 1-liter plastic Mountain Dew/evil Pepsi/Diet Coke bottle with water and put it in the freezer.
