Baboon Dictionary

Post by Jimmy Russel »

So you want to get yourself a blog on FTB? Skepchick perhaps? Or perhaps you are just content to post on A+ forums. First you will need to get down with the lingo, here is a quick guide to get you started.

Strawfeminism: Often used to nullify criticism, Strawfeminism describes a view that may or may not be held by feminists within or without the aforementioned groups, but importantly, a view which is not a convenient view to hold at that exact moment. Just as HIV can quickly mutate and avoid the immune system, so too can the ideas and concepts the baboons hold to avoid having to answer to criticism.

Cyberstalking: Refers to responding to A baboon on an open platform, e.g: Twitter, one's own blog, youtube or facebook. Failure to respond to a baboon on their own blog, where they have the ability to control the responses to their post can be considered cyberstalking. This definition was created by Ophelia Benson. This can also be used interchangeably with 'Harassment"

Check your privilege: Used against someone on a higher rung of the "privilege ladder", can be universally used against a white male. Commanding one to check ones own privilege allows the initiator of this statement to dismiss thoughts and opinions of the target by suggesting that a state of 'privilege' precludes one from knowledge that one might have with a lower level of privilege. Any suggested lacking information need not be supplied, as ignorance caused by privilege is a chronic condition.

Misogynist/mansplainer/slyme pitter/rape apologist/rapist etc: Slurs that may be applied to anyone who disagrees with the dogma, the target's actual views and associations are irrelevant.

Please feel free to add more.

Tone Trolling: Is when a target of slurs, ad hominem, insults and attacks asks the perpetrators to cease personal attacks, often because the discussion was not originally centered around flinging poo. The "Tone trolling" call is an effective bully tactic, because it allows blame to be placed on the victim of attacks, rather than the perpetrators. Asking people to not fling poo is a greater crime than throwing poo.

Victim blaming: There can be no discussion of the circumstances that lead to something bad happening to a Freethought blogger. It's perfectly alright to blame an enemy for anything that happens to them.

"You poked the hornets nest, and now you complain about being stung. That's what you get for being a misogynistic bully."
