Holy fuck! I can't fucking keep up!

Srsly, like holy fuck guys! I've been lurking on the ERV thread non-fucking-stop for like about a fucking week now, and just when I *almost* get to the final page 106, *bam*, *poof*, gone! I srsly wanted to finish that off before I signed up here. Oh well, I guess I'll have to catch up some other time.

But seriously, this is major information overload. And I'm pretty good at dealing with some fast moving blogs and forums most times, but this is the fastest I've seen in our little freethought world of blogs/forums.

Okay, I have some suggestions which might help new people (like, newer than me even) get up to speed without getting tsunamied in posts and comments.

One of the things which really helps a forum like this is an Introductions forum where people can come in as total noobs, say "Hi, looks cool. I'm so and so, I came because of X, Y, and Z, and so what's up people?" This should probably be the very first forum in the forum list. Maybe call it, "Introductions", or "Introduce Yourself", or something equally obvious.

I'm going to post an intro for myself shortly, but I just wanted to get that idea out there.

I'm expecting this board is going to heat up even more than it is right now (srsly), so working out some tried and true methods of getting people on track and up to speed would be a really good thing to get set up. Of course, we can work this stuff out as we go, so I'll leave it at that for now.

Oh yeah, hi everyone!

Cheers,
Thaumas Themelios (aka Wonderist)

Thaumas Themelios, if I recall correctly, you posted some pretty brave stuff over at one of the FfTB blogs, trying to state a claim of fact and reality versus the FfTB ideology.

Well done.

Yeah, that's kinda the problem I was going on about in my post, you're waaaaaay ahead of me. I don't think I'll be able to catch up in a linear fashion as I had hoped, so I'll just have to dive in.

I'll use that thread, thanks. But actually I was more suggesting a specific forum for introductions. That way each person can intro, and there can be a slew of welcomes and a thread to chit chat to the person to get to know them.

Actually, I kinda want to do that anyway... So maybe I'll make a thread and link to it from that thread you suggested...

Cool. If you do that I'll make it a sticky.

BTW, in keeping with Abbie's original threads the Periodic Table forum is locked down so no new threads. Trying to keep it as linear as possible...

Although it's not good news, thanks for the info about the original Slimepit threads having gone bye-byes...
